I been using the same old computer for 5 years. I was shopping for a Mac for a really long time and MBP is the computer for me.

14 years old here, finally got enough saved up :D

made the money by working my ass off spreading mulch this summer for 6 bucks an hour :p

my first mbp was paid for via student loan surplus and student developer discount:) (should have used it on the mac pro though:()
my current one was a replacement machine for the one above compliments of apple:D
I am thinking of buying another (likely refurb, as the edu price isn't as good as the refurb price atm), but the funds would be from my job

my mac pro on the other hand was paid for through my tax refund:D:D

2000 is a lot of money until you have made it ... then it's practically nothing in relative terms

You, sir, deserve congratulations. Working hard for a real wage and earning your own way in life shows initiative and that kind of work ethic will take you far.

I can bet you will also appreciate your computer more than those children who are just handed everything they want without having to work for it.

Best of luck to you and I applaud you.

Yea the MBP has scarred my financial mind. I think of expensive things as not really expensive. I used to think omg a new corvette so much$$$$

now I go, it's only 50k, and if you get one that is say an 06, you could grab under 35k, not that bad.

I dunno.. I have an OK job, nothing extraordinary, and save money. :D It's a lot about priorities too. I'm in Sweden, and at least over here you can easily burn $50 per WEEK (= $200 per month) on partying - from cocktail costs at nightclubs alone. ;)

I have to admit that my Oct 2008 15" MBP was quite a bit cheaper when I got it here... But one could also argue that you also get more for your money now since the specs were bumped quite a bit, especially with Apple going from 2 GB to 4 GB on the standard models. An upgrade I have had to cover myself afterwards anyway.

a good vette aint no 50k. a z06 is 75k, and a zr1 is 111k. that is quite a bit of money

i usually travel to america a lot and buy my gadgets there and sell them twice as much in Turkey (since theyre usually 2.5 times more expensive here) and everyone buys from me since im selling them cheaper.

i just sold a scratched and used jailbroken 3g for 500$ which my uncle sent me since he was going to throw it away.

yeah its a sweet deal for me.

next year ima gonna sell pokemans.

J O B. But im sure most members here have their parents buy it for them but who really will admit that?

Speak for yourself and be kind...my parents are deceased as is my whole family. I am the only one left....so I do for myself.
