Have a perfectly good, fast iPad 2 (3G) and an iPod touch 5. The iPad's on iOS 5.1.1 and the touch has iOS 6. I like having both OS available.

No need for a mini as I'm very content with what I have. Besides, I love my iPad's roomy screen and keyboard.

No. Once you go retina, you never go back.

LOL at the idea of having a retina iPhone (3 generations now), a retina iPad (2 generations now), and then acquiring a non-retina iPad mini.

There is little doubt those of us that have been spoiled by Retina will be checking out the display on these iPad mini's and grading them for acceptability. It could be that Apple will see a higher volume of returns for this very reason. However, you aren't going to know how acceptable or not it is if you don't see for yourself.

I bought one and I know I can return it if it isn't acceptable. I can then opt to hold off or go with an iPad 4, right now I am looking for lighter with a smaller footprint, but I'll reevaluate once I have my iPad mini in my hand.

everyone doesn't like reading from a heavy tablet like the ipad. What is so difficult to understand about that?

It's not that I don't understand that someone else might want the mini, just that it's not for me. Being able to see the text is more important to me than the weight of the device. I don't have the best eyes anymore and the last thing I want is a smaller screen with smaller contents. Since it's running the same apps as the larger iPad it must be displaying the same thing but smaller. The iPhone doesn't have that problem since it's running apps intended for the smaller screen.

I ha an iPad 2 and I could read the screen just fine.

Really? Complete waste? What can the iPad 4 run, exactly, that the iPad mini can't?

iPad 4? You got a time machine? There have been only 3 full size iPads as of 2012 and they foolishly decided not to call the latest one the iPad 3 as they ought to have. But iPad 4? Maybe in mid 2013.

Absolutely, YES.

My wife can't understand why I want another Apple device which she thinks does much the same as all the other ones. My arguments about women and shoes and handbags appear to fall on deaf ears!!

Pffft!! I want shoes and handbags and cool gadgets!!!!

I owned an original iPad, then original iPad with 3G, then iPad 2, now iPad 3.

I am purchasing the iPad mini for 2 reasons: first to continue the lightning connector transition and secondly, my kids have been more frequently using the ipad for their daily use, so I want to see how they react when i throw the mini into the mix. $329 each is way cheaper than a $999 Macbook.

I could get each kid an iPad Mini for the cost of replacing one laptop. Yeah i dont care who you are, thats a win situation. Anyone who still owns their iPad 2 isn't complaining because the iPad 3 and 4 made them unuseable. It still functions just fine for browing, email, etc.

And to be honest, the iPad 3 gets a bit heavy after holding it for a while.

Yes i understand it doesnt have a retina display, i think we all know that. But its the same resolution as the iPad 2 squeezed into a smaller screen, therefore the pixels are more dense. I think it will feel like an iPod Touch retina display, It looks crisp but its still missing that little extra to make it AMAZING, but really, i'm more amazed by the 4S and 5 screens than i am the iPad 3. so I really think the retina will be a non-issue once its in the wild.

Retina will come with iPad Mini 2, we all know that. so you simply sell your ipad mini or pass it down. Most of us by the newest iDevice when it comes out anyway.

I will be keeping the iPad 3 alongside the iPad Mini for the time being. f the iPad Mini is a huge success for my household's needs then i will sell the iPad 3 and get more Minis.

Nah, I have an iPad 3 and an iPhone 5, so really do not need another. Looks sweet, however.

I was ready to preorder but I changed my mind. I currently have an iPad 2 and was looking to upgrade. I love the smaller size of the Mini.

The thing that persuaded me otherwise was the use of the A5 processor which is what I currently have in my iPad 2.

While I don't have any big issues with the speed or performance of my iPad 2, I was really hoping that the Mini would have packed a bit more processing power. At least have be on par or something somewhat close to the iPhone 5.

I'm really excited to see the benchmarks for it, I could be completely wrong and it might perform a lot better than the iPad 2 but at this point, it just doesn't seem like a worthy upgrade.

Especially seeing todays front page story of the iPad 4 benchmarks. An impressive 1757 is just insane. The iPad 2 ranks at 780. Is this what the Mini is going to rank at?

Benchmarks aren't everything and I know that and I bet if I didn't already have an iPad 2, I still would have preordered. At this point I'll probably just wait for the iPad Mini 2.

Confused on whether or not you know that the iPad 4 has been announced

No I will not be getting an iPad Mini. I currently have an iPad 3 and an iPhone 4 (ugrading to 5 early next year) so I don't have a need.

However, I will say that had I known that the Mini was on the horizon, I would have waited for it. I mainly use my iPad for reading and photos so the smaller one would have suited my needs better.

And my daughters both currently have Kindle Fires and older iPods. They want to sell them to get iPad Minis. So at some point soon, there will be 2 in our household.

A 32gb white wifi is replacing my iPad 1st gen. I'm super excited. And at least I don't have to be worried about being spoiled by Retina ;) well other than my iPhone...

No way. Sold the iPad 2 as soon as the 3 came out. Why would I go back to a shrunken-down 2?

Oh excuse me... a "concentrated" 2.

I have used my iPad 3 every day since I bought it the first day it came out. Love the screen and don't find it slow like some people. I'm thinking of going to best buy Friday and picking up a 16GB wi-fi mini. I think I would take it with me more. The iPad 3 stays home or comes with me on vacations. Plus it has almost 3 hours more battery life then the 3, better cameras, better wi-fi, thinner, lighter and is actually a little faster then the 2 and 3. Yes I would love it to have an A6 and retnia. If it had that I think it would be the perfect g&g device.

Negative. I have a 3G iPad first generation and will be using it only at home once I can get my hands on an iPhone 5. No more iPads for me unless I really need them for work.
