Yep. I will get two. One for my wife and one for myself.

I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 5. She has an iPhone 5.

My iPad 2 runs several game apps faster than my iPhone 5.
It tends to lag when there are many characters displayed on the screen.

The iPad mini won't be a downgrade for me. The mini will have improved WiFi, camera, and video, so it will be an upgrade from my iPad 2!

And it will be nice a light and will fit in my pocket. I think......

Um, yes it does. Reading books on non retina sucks, especially once you get "spoiled" by a crisp text on retina iPad. Reading PDFs on non-retina - forget about it. I will never ever go back to a non retina tablet.

I ha an iPad 2 and I could read the screen just fine.

----------

If only that 7.85 tablet wasn't a complete waste of money running 2 year old screen and processor tech.

Really? Complete waste? What can the iPad 4 run, exactly, that the iPad mini can't?

Current ipad owners: Are YOU getting the ipad mini?

Unfortunately not. The thrill of holding it would die in about a week, and I would be left with an iPad, a slightly smaller iPad, and a macbook all wanting my attention. I don't spend THAT much time on the computer. ;)

Basically, with me, the larger the device, the less social and more productive.
iPhone for staying in touch with people, Mac for making music, and iPad for whatever else.

iPad mini buyers are paying a premium price not because of the "quality" components, but because of the dismal manufacturing yield rate of the touchscreen module.

"According to a new report, the primary culprit for the mini's pricing is low yield rates for new touchscreen technology called GF DITO (or GF2) found in the slate.....DigiTimes' sources say the DITO film sensors used in the mini have run into mass production issues, making it about 40 percent to 50 percent more expensive that similar 7-inch devices that employ OGS or G/G touch-screen tech."

That would make me worry that there may be serious quality issues with the first batch of minis as Apple may lower their QC bar to get more on the shelves for the holidays. Good luck you early adopters......

They're buying a Mini so they can add it to their Apple "shrine " and record a new YouTube video.

When Apple manufacturers an iPad Keychain they'll buy that too and add it to the shrine.

Sold my iPad 3 32gb Wifi Only on Ebay this AM for $560, buyer paid another $25 for shipping. I will buy an iPad Mini and put a bill back in the bank.

I did the Nexus 7 and while I liked it, I didn't really care much for Android itself and in all honesty the build quality is really cheap. I sold it for what I paid for it, so I got out from under that too. However, it was my go to device because of the size for about a month.

The iPad mini will just fit better into my world since I use iTunes and have other iDevices and Macs. Nexus 7 for me was like a red headed step child.

The good news is Apple products hold up well in resell value, so if they do a mini retina down the road, I'll sell this one for a tad bit under what I paid and use it for however long, then reinvest the money in the next gen. I've never had to take money out of my pocket for my iToys, I just keep reinvesting the same money back into them when I sell them.

Staying with my iPad 2 which could have been marketed as an upgraded mini with a larger display if the mini had launched first.

No. I love the smaller size and weight but can't justify it. I'd want it mostly for reading and without a Retina display I'd rather use an eInk reader for that. I love the 10" iPad screen for everything except book reading.

No way. The standard iPad 3 fits in every bag I own and its weight is negligible when carrying around. It's smaller than a magazine. Why spend $330+ for a slower, blurry version of an already extremely portable iPad??

I think I'll just stick with what I already have..An iPad 3 and an iPhone 5. I can't see how the iPad mini is better for reading than the full sized iPad since it runs the same apps, only on a smaller screen, which means smaller text. That would mean enlarging enlarging the fonts and getting less text per page or zooming in, which is no better than just using the iphone. I see the iPad mini as a choice for people who don't already have an iPad and are looking for something entry-level.

I see it exactly the opposite, full size iPad for use at home, iPad mini for travelling, it's ideal to go in a suit or jacket pocket and be carried all day.

Complementary rather than instead of.

everyone doesn't like reading from a heavy tablet like the ipad. What is so difficult to understand about that?

...or someone who wants something smaller and lighter

You found someone foolish enough to pay $560 for a used iPad? Micro Center sells new iPad 3 32GB Wifi for $549.

That is just the way auction sites work and if you know how to list and promote the product you generally get top dollar. I threw in a case to add a bit of value that I paid a whooping $8 for. The person that bought it doesn't feel like they are a fool. They are very excited and waiting on their new iToy to arrive. Just like I am! LOL

Ya. Had a 1st and 2nd gen and currently have a 3rd gen. I'm interested in having something lighter than the iPad and bigger than and iPhone. The mini will be perfect for reading in bed and taking on the road for gaming.
