Steve can take his iPad with wings and stuff it!! I admit I would more than likely get one..but not to replace my laptop...my laptop is my work horse! Who wants to run than new software with the old chips... defeating the purpose !!!! THIS STINKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the fact that jobsy decided to do this 'innocent' maintenance downtime on a tuesday at exactly sameday/time that us saddo's were hoping for updates is proof that he's just messin with our emotions like a cruel parent offering sweeties then pulling them away as you excitedly reach out.

What do you mean? There was a product update - and a good one, too.

Okay, just got the 50 rolls of toilet paper in the back seat of my truck. Its raining out, so when I paper Jobs Mercedes the stuff is gonna be hell to get off.

Wish me luck!

Screw this, I'll buy a PC, I've read on French Mac websites that according to their sources the new MacBooks would be announced in February but not shipped before March.

Um, you realize it's still February for 3 more weeks?

if there will be no update on next tuesday ,im pretty sure there will be no update for this month.. :(

It's certainly possible, but I can't fathom Apple's thinking here. Who's buying C2D-laptops for this kind of money in 2010?

Pfft, you realize the toilet paper will remove itself from the car with a single angry glare from El Jobso?

Schiller really knows his ****. Now I want a MBP more than ever.

It may be like that time exactly 2 years ago when there was a new update every week of January. Heady days indeed. :D

I should get out more.

What are the chances that the new MBP's have USB 3.0? I have to hold off for that, i bet as soon as I get at MBP, they will revise w/ usb 3.0

I say there is about a 0% chance of it being on there... seems to new for apple to start including it.

Should I buy a Macbook pro?

I am about to make the jump from PC to Mac and have been looking at the Macbook Pro 15" anti-glare screen. I almost purchased one last night at the Apple store. Should I wait? would they update my processor for free or leave me hanging? how much would I pay? etc? etc?

Sorry, total newb here. Thanks in advance.

Darn it.

Why do most of you guys favor the anti-flare/matte screen? You are going to lose much brightness and color saturation...

go price a fully tricked out Dell or HP with a 3 year warranty and then compare it to the price of a 15" MBP with the good graphics option.

Dell/HP is around $1200 and MBP is $2400 with tax and Applecare included. with Dell/HP you will get a modern i5 or i7 CPU and a much better discrete graphics card. with HP it's a card with 1GB graphics RAM. and you get an HDMI port with no special adapaters required to watch HULU or blu-ray on your TV

i don't mind paying $200 in premium for a MBP, but at current prices it's just ridiculous

Fail.

I assume they wouldn't go to all the trouble of removing all the "new" labels from the macbooks if they're updating them in the next few days.

A bit bummed as I hoped they were coming, but to be fair I'm not gonna have the money til after my wedding in April, so the later the i7 hits the MBP the "better value" I'm likely to have!

Maybe they're waiting until Intel licences nVidia to sell its i5/i7 chipsets!

this man speaks the truth. no need to blow an extra grand on cosmetics when the internals are the same. time to put on the flame suit

alent1234: thanks for your input. I'll take it all into consideration. Only thing is.. I know I'm gonna pay more for a MBP but I'm willing to pay more for less headaches. I've had too many problems with my dell and hp.

I am pretty set on the MBP. Should I wait it out? would price jump with new processor? Thanks again

I am in the same situation and I will wait for the new ones.
If they are more expensive, then I am sure there are more than enough "old" ones for a cheaper price available anyway. So just wait.

Apple never drops prices, they stay the same for the entire sales life of the product, until they are replaced by the new models at *similar* price points. Hence, now is the worst time to buy one as anyone other than Apple would have discounted Core 2 Duo based laptops by now...
