Another newb question,

Will the new processor replace the old processor at similar prices? I guess my question is.. will I be paying around $1,699 (base price for 2.53GHZ) or will I have to pay around $1,999 for the 2.66GHz with the new processor? will the new processor make price higher on the cheapest 15" MBP? I hope I haven't completely confused everyone.

I wonder if SJ is browsing this thread from a secret apple underground layer with his not yet released MBP

Damn, i bet he is. Right now i guess he´s laughing his ass off after teasing us with Aperture. Bring on the new MBP already!

The $1499 Macbook Pro 13" is out of stock at all San Diego area best buys except for Mira Mesa. With stock levels down like this, I'd definitely say something is around the corner!

Maybe it's programmed to launch automatically when the store detects 10 million unique idiots who keep refreshing. It's early in the morning so we're only up to 8 million yet. ;)

Thank you for making my day.

Why are new products typically released on Tuesdays? I thought i had read somewhere that it had something to do with the reaction of the stock market, but I can't remember exactly. Anyone?

Also, Apple has released spec bumps on Wednesdays before...stayin' positive

Alright, Apple. I'm going to go take a shower and when i get back, there'd better be a new MBP and it had better be awesome.

I mean it.

Haha :) nice. I really hope to see better graphics, faster (newer) 32nm processors, and a nice ATI or NVidia Graphics card - i really want to see an ATI 5 series though.

Over the years i have seen that ATI Cards perform the same as Nvidia cards while being less prone to failure and sipping less power :)

It would be nice to see a decent ATI card in the macbook pro.

If i get:
1.Core i5/i7
2. ATI/Nvida graphics (with intel IGP's as a power saver option)
3. IPS display (consindering their introduction into the iPad, its very likely)
4. Better Solid State Support - Apple needs to team up with Samsung and implement the Garbage collect feature for HFS file systems - it automatically tunes up and maintains the SSD when a computer is idle - Or, they need to add something to the software that will do some erasing/formatting of empty space so that wear leveling doesnt destroy ssd performance.
Then, i'm buying :)

I'm very optimistic about this - it seems that for the decade of 2010, Wednesdays are the new Tuesdays (if the iPad launch was any indicator)

:p :D  Fingers :) Crossed! :apple: ;)

I lost out on a 15" MBP on clearance at BB from the last update.

Here's to hoping that these go on sale soon to make way for the new ones! :D

Too Bad

Too Bad know one works at an apple store that would be willing to talk..... one would think that you can use any screen name you want and just end all the ???????? WELL...........................

Today would have been the perfect day for this, I'm home all day because of the snow so I would have been able to buy it right as it was updated... oh well, I wait for next week.

I was recently allowing myself to consider moving back to windows 7 based on descent user reports and the cheaper priced windows offerings. But you know what? "Cheaper" is the word which applies. Not in price as we all know, but everything else. I'm writing this on a 2006 17" Macbook pro which I dropped-checked hard last month due to external keyboard cord wrapped around my stupid leg. The screen framing is all bent to heck and now it won't close all the way, but guess what? It works as well as the day I bought it. Most importantly, I LOVE this operating system!! I can't leave it! I'll wait and use the time to dream a little more. Here's what I see at night after the sheep:

17-19 inch Macbook Pro
Anti-glare screen
Intel Core i7 620 2.26
8 GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce® GTS 360M discrete graphics (1GB DDR5)
1TB HDD at 7200 RPM
HDMI
USB 3
Blu-ray
$2400.00

Remember, it's just a dream.........zzzzzzz

I've seen a few other people mention this but AFAIK there is no such thing as a 2.5" 1TB HDD @ 7200rpm.

Yup, 500GB is the biggest that currently exists for notebooks, from what I know. There will also not be a 19-inch or Blu Ray on the next models.

employee at best buy

i am an employee at best buy, and some best buys aren't "apple certified" which means that they simply do not carry any apple computers, etc. they have the little things like ipods, but no laptops or computers. so if i logged into my local store system, the numbers for all macbooks/macs would say 0, because we obviously dont have any and will not be going to get any in because we never will. we aren't certified by apple. the reason why this is is because the two other best buys around us are certified, plus we have two nearby apple stores. apple doesn't want to have their items avaliable at every location.

so maybe the store this person works at just doesnt carry apple products, which will result in the numbers of 0
____________

just to prove my point, i am looking at the store's details, and they aren't apple certified. here is the link to the park city, UT store: http://stores.bestbuy.com/1761/ - under the "at this location", there is no apple store

now compare that store with this other store in Murray, UT: http://stores.bestbuy.com/521/ - under the "at this location", there is apple store.

I believe it is the status "DELETED" that is more of a sign than the 0.

the store never carried them in the first place. what else would it have said before that if they were to never have any in stock? this status is only applying to this one store, not all stores across the country. and this one store does not and has never carried these laptops.

Title on MacBook Pro site...

Not sure if this has always said this or not... but this page: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ says "The new MacBook Pro family."

I'm just really hopeful. My MBP 1,1 died on me a couple weeks ago and as a designer I am struggling without it!

gutted

I ordered a new 2.8 macbook pro 15" last week, it is currently flying round the world to me as I type this...

I sold my 2007 MBP and bought a thinkpad T500, it is lovely but I really miss my mac and have kicked myself every day since, finally could afford a MBP again and it will be an 'old' one within a month or so.

Could I send it back for a full refund right away or will I lose money doing that?

good question... You may very well be right, but deleted kind of implies that it was there at one point and now it is gone. Unavailable or N/A seems like it may be more applicable if the store never carried them in the first place.

Yeah, you can return it within 14 days, assuming you bought it from Apple.com. I'm sure they're getting a lot of returns. I believe there is a 10% restocking fee, though.
