Next week because we haven't heard anything definitive since the Best Buy report. It seems like in this thread inventory is all over the map, some places have stock some don't. I think we'll hear a good tip a day or two in advance of an update. I'm feeling the update being next Tuesday as well. Which really sucks, because I need the new MacBook Pro for work and school NOW because my crapquality plastic MacBook is dying as we speak. These flimsy plastic MacBooks are built worse than a Saturn.

Hey hey hey... my '03 Saturn is pretty much good as new =P

Saturn is actually a very underrated company. They produce great cars! Everyone I know that has ever purchased one has loved it and has gone far over 200k. Sure they were purchased by GM but basically they did their own engineering and were a branch of GM. They were just seriously under budgeted, however, they produce quality cars. GM on the other hand...

I have been reading these forums for a while now, and find the information and general discussions very helpful. Thanks to all those who contribute. I am waiting for the next MBP update, as I need 2 units one for my daughter and one for myself. I would have bought one for myself last November, but NX2 was not update for SL. Now it is, and I am waiting because we seem so close to an update.

I do not work for Best Buy, Apple or Intel, but I do live in an area that used to be an apple orchard, and do line on a street called MacIntosh, so I feel quite qualified to tell you that I believe updates will be announced this or next week..... ;)

What will we be waiting/longing for after the new MBPs...?

Mike

As of today, I have identified i7 laptop options from Dell, HP, Toshiba, Sony, MSI, Acer and specialist UK makers like Novatech, Kobalt and Rock, starting at 819GBP for an HP dv6-2106 with i7 and 230 Nvidia GPU. So why has my favourite computer maker not produced? Too busy with the iSad and iSod range of fashion accessories is my guess. For just over 800 quid it is worth a few weekends seeing if I can hack in OS X - I am now days from going Win+hack.

oh, that makes dense :D

And if that weren’t enough to convince you—the 1000+ comments in this thread tell us that Apple is going to see quite a jump in sales right after they update them. And these are just the ones voicing complaints. For every one of us there are probably 50 others viewing this thread who haven’t commented. I still think there is a very good chance Apple will release them tomorrow. They will likely want all of their new sales numbers for the MBP update to fall under 1st quarter profits because I don’t think sales numbers for their iPaddy will be outstanding. Just my opinion, though.

probably after the Chinese new year. i bet they have been producing them for a while but don't want the holiday to screw up their shipping and other logistics right after a release.

i remember in the 1990's Intel and everyone else would release new products right after the holidays. after production moved to China it seems to have been pushed to March, probably due to the new year celebrations

good point, but with their first 1/4 they would of had normal sales except for this month and if the itampon doesnt sell well wouldnt they want to release the mbp in the 2/4 so their sales will balance, or is that just bullsh*t

Meh....I've done the Hackintosh thing a few times now. Too many driver issues. With a few exceptions, OSX on random hardware is really no better than Windows on random hardware.

Let us know how that works out for you.

Aaaargh. The wait is killing me.
The $ are burning in my pocket.

...and I really hope it will have decent graphics (at least matching the current 9400). Otherwise the wait will have been wasted and I'll have to go for the current MBP.

you wiill buy the current mbp at a much lower price!!!!
i am in the same situation, new mbp with good graphics or old mbp cheaper
waiting is GOOD
even though stressful

HOPEFULLY ITS TUESDAY!! you know when they take down the red for valentine

They already did. Why did you some of you think they would have left that up after Valentine's day?

ye, dont loose hope, if updates happen, i should be bout 12-13 hours from now

I don't know where you got that. Last week, Apple started updating at about 8am EST. You wrote this at 7am. That would make it 25 hours since you wrote, or about 18 hours from now.

There seems to be a lot of current stock out there. With iPad getting ready to make its debut, I doubt Apple is going to want any competition taking away from their newest, little darling.

Do you really think that Apple would release a modestly refreshed MBP and sell it at the same price as the current one and people would opt to buy the now "old" model? There seems to be a lot of current stock out there. With iPad getting ready to make its debut, I doubt Apple is going to want any competition taking away from their newest, little darling.

Considering the older model would drop in price, maybe.

A lot of current stock? From what I've been reading it seems that there is hardly any stock of the current MBPs out there... of course an apple retail store isn't going to admit they are running low, but it seems like everywhere else is running low.

The other thing that could happen is a new model comes out at a higher price alongside the current model.

hey, first im finnaly not a macrumors newbie too , and even if they did just put new models along side the old models i would still buy it

I just don't see Apple putting out a new model that is close to or just slightly better (or worse) than the current model. They wouldn't want people opting to buy the "old" model instead of the new one, right?

danm it, when ever i put my view on these forums every1 else is alwas right lol:apple:
