Its just a hunch, but I think iPad is standing in the way of a MBP update.

If they release the new MacBook Pros in February, that would still give them a full month before the iPad launch (assuming a late March launch). Otherwise they'd have to wait until well after the iPad launch for the new MBPs, which would be a terrible business decision.

Hi,

Brand new to this site and also brand new to the apple brand. Been a Windows user ever since I've used a computer. (actually i think i used apple computers in elementry school, but that was like 20 years ago)

I have decided to switch to Apple products because I am tired of the problems I have with windows. Just today, I purchased my first Apple product, Ipod Touch 32GB for my wife for valentines day. I have been wanting to purchase the 13" Macbook Pro but since discovering that a new model could be released soon, I am holding off. The only thing I see that could be a problem with my decision with a Macbook is I love online gaming but I think the bootcamp thing allowing me to run Windows should work out for that.

Do you guys/gals think there is a chance Apple could introduce a 3G feature on the MBP like on the Ipad, where you can activate/disactivate it from the macbook with no contracts?

Fingers and toes crossed for this Tuesday!

Because the 9400M is actually a complete Chipset package for Intel LGA775 CPUs. But nVidia doesn't have manufacturing rights for LGA1156, so they're not allowed to make chipsets for the iX series.

So there can't be a nVidia card period? Or only integrated nVidia chips wont work?

doubt it, your better off waiting for iphone tethering

A few posts back, someone said Apple had a return policy for those unlucky people who bought their new Macbook within a certain period of time before the "refresh"...can you go into more detail about that and did you have to buy your Macbook direct from Apple, or are their resellers like Best Buy covered also if you bought your Macbook there?

Thanks.

I likewise am also looking to purchase either the 13 in or 15 in macbook pro. It will be my first mac; I hope the "dark side" treats me well :p

In any case, I plan on putting Windows 7 on it as well via BootCamp. I was just wondering, but is it possible to transfer a file from the windows partition to the mac partition seamlessly? Thanks in advance, i'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions here on macrumors once I actually make the purchase

Read the official Apple Store return policy here:

http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/248/2041...Catalog/US/Images/salespolicies.html#topic-21

Main stipulations:

1. You have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return.
2. Personalized iPods may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless such product is Dead on Arrival.
3. Apple will assess a 10% restocking fee on any opened hardware or accessory.
4. I am not 100% certain, but I believe a customized product is not returnable, even before 14 days. Customized means changing the RAM, HDD, CPU, etc.

One nice thing is if you buy your product online from Apple.com, you can return it to any Apple Store. As far as third party retailers (eg. BestBuy), they will have their own return policies that you will have to check. I know up here in Canada, our BestBuy offers 14 day return on laptops and other similar electronics, but with no restocking fee if it's open.

why would it be a terrible bussines desision

Yeah but even though it's Tuesday for us... it will only be Monday in the states...

I was thinking, if any update was to occur, it would be Tuesday in the US, so for us in New Zealand, it would in-fact be Wednesday...

Just a thought

Matt

ye, the updates happen when every1 in the us is sleeping, in the uk they happen bout lunch time, over in new zealand it will probaly happen tueday night, wednesday early moring, like 3 am, i think

why they update always on Tuesday?

While Tuesday is the most common day, it is not always the case. During a Monday holiday week, should Apple release anything I believe they do so on a Wednesday.

I don't think we will see the Macbook Pro's until next week.
