I am a longimte PC user, hope to be first time Mac purchaser. This waiting is very frustrating and kinda makes me wonder about Apple. Hard to tell my PC buddies that holding out makes sense when I can get an iCore on windows for much less. This refresh has gotta happen soon.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good 15" iCore Windows laptop to compare with the MBP?

Of course it's Monday, it was the day of the WWDC-keynote. Sheesh...

OK OK, I just got a ahead of myself here, sorry ....

This is almost like waiting for Christmas as a kid to open gifts, except here we get all excited about having to pay for something ... :D

Proud New MBP Owner

:D:D:D
I'm so happy with my shiny new MBP! You all can say what you want about C2D, it works for me!

How about the new OSX. if you buy the new updated MBP when it release you buy it with the "old" OSX and as a example, next month they release the NEW OSX and they start deliver it by the update MBP.
how about the people who bought the updated MBP the month before the new OSX??????

Then you'd use the Mac OS X up-to-date program. Apple have done this for the last few versions, so if you buy a new Mac, and a few days later an new OS is launched, you can get the current version at a small cost to cover postage. This is also useful if you buy a Mac a few days/weeks after a new version of the OS is launched, as the stores may still have old stocks - rather than recalling millions of $ worth of machines just to put a different OS on the machine, its cheaper to send out the OS on DVD at next to no cost.

Here are the details of last years up-to-date program, it was available as soon as the product launched in Sep 09 and you had a few months (until Dec 09) to claim your copy, and was applicable to anyone purchasing a new Mac after June 09

Thank you!
So you pay the postage and they send you the newest OSX on an DVD?

So IF they release the mbp today tomorrow or another date you can buy without worrying about what if they release a new OSX in a month

I don't really understand the people saying they expect no update until June/July. What is the basis for claims like these?
Not sure about other people but I simply pulled this number out of you-know-where. July sounded right. Unlike some people trying to make guesses about release timeline based on winter constellations and menopause periods of Martha Stewart's vagina I just pull the date out of a bag. As long as it's far enough in the future it works for me. If I'm wrong most of you will be so happy you'll just forgive me. If I'm right I'll have a good starting point for "I told you so" jokes. Either way I win. :)

This is so depressing. I cant believe their going to wait till march to release these damn things.

What makes you think it'll be march with all the iPad hype about? Probably June at the WWDC with touch screen and switchable graphics card. ;)

This is starting to get ridiculous, I had my old MacBook on a lease, it ended in January and I ordered a new 2.8 15" MBP to replace it, at this point I'd be happy with the one I ordered, even if there is an update coming.
It's now over a month without a laptop and I'm rapidly reaching the point where I say screw it and go back to a Windows machine.
I do like Apple, work for an Apple Reseller, and use quite a few of their products, but this treatment is crap!
Just out with it already, even if I have to wait until March, so long as I know what it is I'm waiting for it'd be bearable.
Apple like to differentiate themselves from Microsoft, but the utter disregard for a loyal customer base that they are showing makes me think that my loyalties are misplaced.

I've been watching this thread for a while now...just started saving up for a MBP and heard about this refresh on the horizon. needless to say I'll be waiting before I make a purchase (don't have the money yet anyway). But the whole deal with a 13 month refresh, when in the past it's always been a 7 month cycle? Does anyone think this might signify apple discontinuing the MBP line? Why else would they wait this long? I keep thinking about the ipad keynote and how steve jobs kept saying Apple is a mobile computing company. maybe laptops aren't mobile enough anymore? A stretch, but something to think about anyway.

They wont get rid of the MBP line...but it's going to be a longer refresh. They have to get iX chips and that nvidea graphics switching right or it could be a rushed 27"iMac problem all over again.

I would be absoutly shocked if apple discontinued the mbp line. There wouldnt even be a reason to. It's not like they arent selling well. I have a feeling something went wrong when developing an i5/i7 version, such as an overheating issue. I would also be shocked if apple skiped over arrandale and waited for Clarkdale which is due to be released in 3Q 2010. In any case, this waiting sucks. I need a mbp asap

Steve Jobs can take his MBP and shove them up his @$$

I am giving up on Apple and I am going to stick with PC.I have owned a PC my whole life without having any major problems. I can get a very nice laptop with many features nicer than what the MBP has, and probably better than what the new ones will have when they come out which might not be until September. No one has any real information about when they will come out. I was really excited about getting a MBP and I sat and waited patiently for quite a while and now I have reached my breaking point. Buyers remorse? Not too worried about that anymore. The waiters remorse has killed me for a while. I should have just bought a PC a while ago. I don't think the Mac OS is worth the extra money and the BS you have to put up with to get the newest stuff. HDMI, Blu-Ray, Bigger hard drive, more memory, 2010 i7 processor and all that for less money than the base 13" MBP. WTF!!!!!!! Maybe next time. My dell lasted about 5and a half years. i see lots of MBP users that are looking to replace their 2008 MBP because they are no longer working or are on their way out! I hope you feel just another year older on your birthday Steve you Dick!

amen

I'm with you brother. Back to PC for me

While I don't share the enthuses of the last 2 post I do agree with them. I use to be a PC user but switched to Apple with an iMac and i absolutely love it and am Apple user now. I need a new laptop now. Not in 2 months but now. I am opening another business that will require me to travel some and I need a Laptop. I have been patiently awaiting on the refresh but my patience is running out of time. I am opening my new business in 4 weeks and need the laptop before then so I can get Quickbooks set up and so on.
I do think it is a little asinine that PC laptops can be had at half et price or even more with double to triple the technology. If I haven't had sooooo many problems with PC's I would probably go with them. BUT Apple is so cool.
