Same thing here. Failed logic board.

I can't remember how many times I've resoldered the power socket connector on my iBook G4 back to the logic board. Plus the machine is at last starting to show it's age while surfing.. I'm ready for an update as well!

Is this the general consensus, that we'll see the MBP's on the same day as the new MPs? Which may be Tuesday 16?

If you consider the general consensus of a collection of wild guesses, liberally mixed with wishful thinking, to be relevant, I'd say yeah.

Well i'm crossing my fingers for this coming Tuesday. I'm getting very itchy at moment, may just go buy current model. Grrr

huffhuff

I'm so ready (!!!) for this general consensus to prove to be true... So come on next Tuesday (or this Friday) (or Tuesday 23rd) (or Christmas 2011)

Come on Apple!!! MOVE & PROVE!!! NOW!!!
Please? :D

First, for those with failed logic boards, aren't they covered under applecare?

Second, it appears the 1 GB of VRAM is the new standard. Anyone think Apple will go with 512 MB of VRAM to get a few more bucks in profit margin?

Hi Folks!

Just registered to ask who (if anybody at all) will pay my guinness next week if the new MBP will be based on an Core i3-350M with K0-stepping..?

Apple is usually (one of the) first supplied with new Intel chips and the new mobile chances are (afaik) the K0-stepping with hopefully some new features like switch igp to dedicated graphics...

Source (be carefull - explicit german language)

Have nice day and waiting ;-)

Yeah Im going to guess that next week will be the change around for the new MBP, quite a few Mac Pro rumours and if they get introduced im sure they will just do a complete overhaul on the pro range, I'd also say the 13" will get updated too.

....again..speculation but I'm pretty sure we'll see them this tuesday!

I don't usually like to predict things.. but I am almost positive that there will
be a MBP refresh soon.
hah! Hows that?

I hope the 13" sees one though. I am putting an SSD in my MB Aluminum
this next week, but if the refresh happened I could plan on saving for a new
PRO and selling this.
Goin to keep the HDD I yank so I can migrate with my SSD to the new MBP.

Thats what im doing, my logic board fried but the HDD is still ok so going to buy an enclosure for it and move it over shortly. Cant wait! Going for 15" with 500GB HD and antiglare screen.

Nice. Yah I think I may opt for a 15" if I can save up. haha by the time
i have the money people will be waiting on the next refresh! LOL.
It'll be cool to have a i5 though. =) Anti-Glare screen seems to be a must,
I think it would come in handy.

Come on Apple, next Tuesday, let's get it on! I'll start diverting money
from my Swiss and offshore bank accounts. JK. hahah (poor college kid).

Any update from that individual who's 17" MBP order had been postponed? His shipping date could confirm a release date - either tomorrow or March 16th.

Is it completely out of the question to have a silent release tomorrow at the same time the store is refreshed to bring iPads online? This would be more inline with the BestBuy Inventory system which shows it will be in stock on the 14th.

The 16th is so close but adds come complication for me - I applied for the Barclaycard to get the 12 month no-interest financing and didn't realize that the purchase must be within 30 days from opening the account - that deadline is the 14th! I can purchase the $1999 15" MBP outright but payments would be easier. Guess I'll know tomorrow...

If this is accurate it is pretty compelling that at the very least the products are nearly to a finished state of development, which would suggest updates are coming sooner rather than later. Apple wouldn't want to have a new product sitting on a warehouse shelf for long when it could be selling it. The longer it sits there the more time for competing technologies to creep up and the argument for the high price becomes harder to win with already outdated tech.

Intel's releasing the new chips, lots to support the new MP line, it would make sense to see an update of the entire professional line of mac products at once featuring the new chips and functionality that elevates the "mac experience" to one higher than a PC running the same chips.
