So a few friends of mine are going to the Apple Store at 12pm tomorrow hoping to be first. I don't get off work and school until 8pm. I was originally going to Verizon by my house by obviously I'll have a greater chance on getting what I want at the source.

My friends want me to meet them after I get off so it'll be around 9pm. Can I cut in line and wait with them if I get there late and there's a hundred people behind? Will people be butt hurt and start yelling or is this normal during this event?

It worked for Jason Bateman. Unless you were in Arrested Development i would advise against cutting in line.

Wozniak often shows up at a local Apple Store on launch day and cuts right to the front of the line. No one ever complains.

So, the answer is yes, you can cut in an Apple Store line without any fear of reprisal ... if you're Steve Wozniak.

Lol! Exactly! Who's crazy enough to tell Woz NO and ask him to pay for their spot...no one.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm lining up before my brother.. However, since Apple usually has a 2 phone limit, I'm going to let the people behind me know right away that I'm either getting 2 phones by myself, or my brother is waiting with me and we're getting 1 phone each. It really won't make a difference to them but hopefully they'll be understanding and cool about it.
That won't fly with me. If I didn't meet him there He is not getting in front of me. He has to have been in line. You can't reserve a spot. If everyone did that what would happen.

most of the people that go to midnight events are weak and wear skinny jeans with their hair dye. I'm pretty sure you could take them.

Looks like my friend was too late to be first in line. Started early this morning, I'm sure by 8pm it will be swamped. This guy looks pretty threatening lol.

Last year I arrived at my local Apple store at about midnight and there was about 15-20 people in front of me. At about 5:30am a friend arrived just to keep me company for a little while (she was not purchasing a phone at all). She just walked right up to where I was sitting and no one had a problem with it. She did reassure those that were right around us that she was just there to hang out with me and was not buying anything though. But even before she said anything, no one seemed to have a problem.

The only problem was the guy that showed up at 3:30-4 with 2 friends and walked up to the front of the line. He said he had started the line at 7:30 (before the mall was even closed) and then left. When people didn't let him cut he started showing his gun that he had in his pants (didn't pull it out or aim it at anyone). The cops were called and he was arrested because the gun was stolen. His friends were let go so they just walked off.

Just tell your friends to tell 10 people behind you that you will be coming later and that they are holding your spot, so people don't get ********.

Im curious as to what happens when the store opens, is there a massive scrum to get in with pushing and shoving or what happens?

Would you do the ass kicking?

Nope. I've got more important things going on in my life than waiting in line for a phone, but I certainly don't deny anyone else the right to. What I was saying (and perhaps I was overly adamant), was that to cut into any line where people have spent perhaps hours in waiting for the same thing you are is totally disrespecful...and you get what you get.

Having said that though, if your friends made those in line behind them very aware that you were coming later and why you were cutting line...I think most would understand, or at least not be pissed about it.

I believe the employees would give out cards to the people in line with their specific model they're in line for. no need to rush the door. go to the counter with your card and they come back with your phone.

Alright then, I'll tell people I'm getting 2 phones and my brother is coming to keep me company and not getting a phone. Again, since the limit is 2 per customer it doesn't affect what phone the person next in line is getting.

this is exactly why I refuse to wait in line. 5 hours to store opening your 50th in line. 30 minutes to store opening your 200th in life. F That.

At the Circuit City we worked for we logged every line cutter with their description and passed over them when handing out vouchers.

Cutting is rude as hell. I feel bad for the poor soul who doesn't get an iPhone because someone cut infront of him.

Hopefully the store does a voucher system so people who cut don't get a phone.

They'll still get pissed. They're there physically waiting while the OP is not.

This is the biggest Dou*** bag move around. You can't wait, get in the back of the line.

There is a time and place to get physical with a stranger: being attacked, protecting love ones and property and having someone cut you in line.

How is line cutting illegal?? It may be unsavory.. but unless someone gets into a fist fight, why would the cops arrest someone for cutting a line? OTOH, Apple may refuse to serve the line-jumper, but I don't think they would have the bandwidth to care.

Actually it can be considered illegal and I forget what the charge is. It's nothing like jail time but it can be finable.

A guy in college I know got this charge for cutting in line to by concert tickets and refusing to budge.

Well its private property but the store could say you were trespassing.

everyone can understand and appreciate a little lateness, but how many hours late? if too many its like no **** you get to the back of the cue

Is that the Lincoln Park Apple store?

If so, I will be in that line, and if I see you cut in front of me I will go out of my way to track down an Apple employee / cop and have you forcibly ejected.

This was mentioned to be the Lincoln Park store in another thread. You guys should line up at the entrance by the fountain. There's a lot more room over there, and you're not right on North Ave. I may have to ride by tonight just to check out the line.

The best way to cut the line is to drop something that smells like ****, but I mean a big smell of ****, after that nobody is going to resiste the smell but you could avoid that issue by wearing a gas mask
