Hmm I can install it off steam but it doesn't actually install anything, and when I start it says files are missing. Best wait till 4PM my time.
1 more hour. If you click on the game in steam to install, you'll see that its 0 bytes. Its release time is 8:00am PST, so 11:00EST for me..

I've been playing mine for about an hour and 10 mins now lol. In the UK it was 4PM. The zero bytes changed to 80 odd gig.

Playing it for 30m on 4K Ultra without RT but with HDR and looks nice (P27UCDM), RT is kinda unplayable though unfortunately. HDR is also like a must for the beauty of the game. M4 Max 64GB.
Gonna plug it to my LG G5 more distance and connecting a PS5 controller, should be much better.

Nice, did you try Path Tracing?

Yeah, the same.

So how is it?
I'm seeing 60 FPS at 1080p (I have my monitor set to 1080P) with the default settings. My PC using the built in benchmark was pushing 120FPS. I turned on ray tracing and the FPS dropped down in the 30s. I don't know if its capped at 60, since changing some of the settings hasn't improved performance.

I will say that at 60 FPS, there's no lagging, its a very consistent 60FPS.

Andrew Tsai had the same problem. Changing the refresh rate to 120Hz is one way. When using AMD Framegen he got variable frame rate.

I have a Mac mini M2 Pro (12 CPU / 19 GPU) with 32 GB RAM.

Do you think it is playable and looks nice? I know it cannot be top notch with my machine.

Yeah slide show, but on Sequoia, will try it later on Tahoe it is any better.

I am missing the VRR option. And what is funny is to use PS5 controller as a PS5 controller it needs to be on a cable grrrr. Didn't know that...

Have to say if you play this game on highest of highest it is amazingly beautiful, almost would want a 5090 for it but f* windows.

vsync is force enabled?
I had that turned on, once I turned it off, I was able to get more then 60FPS, but not much more - I'm getting about 70 FPS on high (non-rt), more on medium and low of course.

Ray Tracing brings the Mac to its knees, and so that's why its off by default.

I'll try and do a benchmark comparison in a little bit between my 4090 laptop and the mac studio. Till then, here's some frame gen (that rhymed lol).

Did a quick walk around. Perfect smooth 60 fps on "Your Mac preset". Getting about 50 fps with only raytraced reflections turned on and metalfx on performance (at 1080p mind you). M3 Max here. First impressions are pretty good. It's the first game (Crossover or native) that's playable with raytracing on. Turning on Pathtracing brought it down to 10 fps lol

Right… I am NOT impressed with the game. Using the default settings, best for my Mac, when running it stutters like crazy in some places, NPC’s seem to jerk around in their movement too.

I am using my base config M3 Max 14” MacBook Pro, surely that can handle the game? What settings to I need to change to try and make it run smoother? According to CDPR I can run the game at high settings. FPS is around 50 to 60.

Running the game off Steam.

EDIT: I closed my Safari windows and also unplugged my external monitor, seems to be running better now. I’ll test it further.

Weird, I got the maxxed out M3 Max, granted, but still I have huge headroom on the default preset (like 100 FPS). Try fiddling with the settings (resolution, MetalFX). Also make sure to disable Game Mode - it seems to make the game extremely choppy on my computer.

I’ll try that trick with the Game Mode. Thanks.

Well indoors with ray tracing on, lightning at medium, it gets 50 to 55fps. Not bad.

that's most likely a factor, also heat. I think your MBP may be throttling, try using something like Macs Fan Control and push the fan's RPMs up much higher.

Not sure what model @loui100 has.

With that said, my M4 Max is buttery smooth with the Best for Mac settings. Turning on Ray Tracing and the various options for RT, kills the FPS. Drops it down to 20 or 30. I don't usually play with RT on if I have the option to turn it off, so it no big deal for me.
