With no RT and MetalFX upscaling, I'm not sure you would be able to tell the difference (visually) between the two. Especially with the For this Mac defaults that they recommend.

There will be another patch once MacOS 26 launches which includes MetalFX 4 upscaling, MetalFX Frame Interpolation and denoising

The MSI Titan 18 with the RTX 5090 at 4K w/DLSS Quality caps at under 40fps
144p Ultra at also 40fps

WIll our Macs outpace the 5090 Mobile?

Can't wait to see the breakdown of the For This Mac setting. Otherwise comparisons will be lopsided.

I'll be firing up my PC, maybe today to start getting benchmarks.
The question is, will the same settings on different platforms give the exact same results? Or are there platform specific differences in the rendering?

Do you mean will Medium textures on PC look the same as Medium textures on Mac? I think they will probably be the same between the Mac/PC versions but we won't really know until it's out and comparisons have been made. Consoles do have some unique settings not available on PC.

Good question, I generally don't play with FSR on, and for cyberpunk I generally have ray tracing turned off. I think the developer did such a good job with the graphics, that I didn't feel I was missing much with RT turned off. Anyways I'll start play with it today and see what my FPS is on who I typically play that game and then some other settings.

My 7800XT is generally akin to a 4070 for rasterization, it falls behind in ray tracing, so one good test is to see if the Apple Silicon will meet or beat that anemic AMD RT support

I'm not going to lie. “For this Mac" could be the hidden gem for Game Devs.

Granted, modern games do come with a "recommended" toggle, but Imagine a game that actually provided game settings tailored to the PC specs.
macOS is uniquely positioned to allow this as your standard PC has too many permutations of hardware.

EDIT: it also helps having Apple provide all the different hardware to test against.

Was very excited about this port and then realised that a) I haven't got a M3 Pro chip and b) I haven't got 36GB of RAM to get very impressive graphics

Thankfully the game looks and plays amazingly on GEForce Now top tier on the Mac at the maximum settings.

Still not out here in the UK and it is now 11:06 AM on the 17th, guess they'll just release it globally according to one time zones time. So 8PM here and 11AM there time?

Someone on reddit checked steamdb and thinks 10am UTC is the time, but that has already also gone 20 minutes ago. Guess we should just check on the 18th to not be disappointed lol. But damn the download is quite large, I want to start it ASAP.

For me it still isn't out on Steam or in the Apple App Store. Guess it'll be sometime this afternoon or evening.

GFN is definitely how i'm going to compare the two. It's absolutely insane that i can play Cyberpunk at 4K DLSS w/PT RT just with my internet. Crazy.

1225 for me in the UK. However My M1 MacBook only has 256GB and only 20GB free right now.Don’t think I will be able to install the game this weekend. Will wait for a few video reviews to see whether it’s worth playing on an M1.

It looks incredible with full taytracing on GeForce now. Absolutely astonishingly good. I’ve never seen a better looking game.

And when you’re going at 180 mph through night city on a vehicle, there’s just no lag.

All of which would be incredible if you were playing it locally but knowing it’s happening in the cloud is mind blowing.

You definitely need full fibre for the ultimate tier.

And another tip - do some research on what graphics settings to choose when playing specifically with GeForce now ultimate, as out of the box you’re not getting the best experience that the cloud rig can manage (ray tracing needs to be turned on for example).

Just as well it’s so good on GeForce now, as my dreams of playing it on my m3 mba 16Gb are well and truly dashed haha!

It's out on Mac on GOG now. Also on sale there for people that don't have it. Doesn't seem like my pre-existing GOG version has the Mac installer? Perhaps that will change.

From what I can see, it goes live at 8:00AM PST. I see that its "available" on steam, but it doesn't download when I click on install. I'll wait until 11:00 and see if I can install it

Hmm I can install it off steam but it doesn't actually install anything, and when I start it says files are missing. Best wait till 4PM my time.
