Now that I have a few hours with CP 2077, I've been coming around with regard to my attitude about ray tracing. I was unimpressed with the Witcher 3 update, and felt that RT gave very minimal benefit for the hefty performance hit. But 2077 is a different story, and RT is done to pretty amazing effect. I find myself stopping just to fool around with reflections in the water. :)

It was CP77 where I first really noticed RT, and it got my attention. Until then I was kind of in the “what’s the big deal” mode. Definitely an added element of realism.

It doesn't matter how many hours you spend, in fact if something takes too much time, its a clear indication something in software development goes in wrong way. Looks like you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.
Don't try and weasel out of admitting you were wrong, that's not what you said. Let me quote what you said again...
It means nothing, if game code poorly written.
And Cyberpunk infamous for very bad optimisation. I think all that TFOPS are just wasted by lazy CDP programmers.

If good engineers apply, they can achieve this.
You got caught out talking utter rubbish. Accept it and move on.

Also, it's spelt TFLOPS 😆

I don’t know how many Starfield players there are in this thread, but when it comes to human communication metrics, the difference between Starfield and CP2077 is stark, CP being years ahead of Starfield. Starfield is an embarrassment showing how far behind they are. Part of this might be that Bethesda was so wrapped up with creating a space traveling, ship building environment, they decided to go with their decade old, stagnant social scheme as if this would be enough. Companion conversations, characters you are possibly intimate with are painful and awkward, so limited and unsatisfying that you wonder why they bothered.

I’m currently in the middle of the CP Phantom Liberty DLC, I meet with a character in his truck, we drive to a destination having a conversation on the way, including while walking into a building, to meet with a third character. We then have a three way conversation to discuss plans. These interactions, although they have a long way to actually feel like you’re participating in an interactive movie, feel relatively fluid and natural, although they're still limited in scope.

When AI arrives, this will truly open up social interaction if the developers make the effort. Cyberpunk gives you a taste of the future with dynamic conversations.

Yeah - Dystopian Skyrim has much more fluid GTA like interactions (both in terms of scripting and how much more realistic the behaviour is) than Space Skyrim, which is genuinely Space Skyrim (mostly for worse).

No release date as yet, but the Cyberpunk 2077 page on Steam's been updated a couple of days ago with a Mac depot.

The depot's empty though, so it could just be housekeeping.

Sounds cool, but the question is: will the Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077 support mods? That’s one of the most beloved features of the game, and without it, part of the experience would be lost. Still, it’s great to finally see a serious game coming to Mac!
For reference , I’ve played this game 4 times to the end without any mods and enjoy the heck out it. And I use mods frequently in other games if there is a feature I desire. 🙂

What do we make of the Steam activity the last few weeks…?

It's going to be very confusing. Based on the Reddit link per @diamond.g, it looks like Cyberpunks 2077's launch is still months away [September-october at best]

Since it already works on Steam Deck, I wonder what the minimum Mac requirements will be in production. It should go fairly low but whether they want to do that or not is another matter.

If CDPR was to make the minimum requirements M1 or later, they would need to make it clear that Ray Tracing will not work on M1 or M2 machines. I still think that is more likely than limiting the specs to M3 or later.

New article posted yesterday, where the writer saw the game running in the new Studio, Apple told them the game will be released ‘Soon’. But worryingly also said it’ll be coming to “Macs powered by the M4 family of chips”!.. lets hope that does not mean it won’t be on older M chips!

I'll be happy if my Mac studio M2 can run the native version but, I can continue to run it under Crossover if I can't run the native version..

There is a sale on Cyberpunk 2077 (and other games) on Steam right now, so it would be great if the game is released before the sale runs out! :D
I wonder if my M1 Max Studio could run it...
