Just shared a Brewsky with PanAm at a bar to discuss recent events and future plans. I've not run into many (if any I can remember) RPG games that provide this kind of social interaction. :)

Ok, 4th time though, apparently they dropped Jackie Welles’s funeral. I assume 2.0 change.

Helman, Takemura, Johnny .jpg

Johnny, Helman, Takemura

I just got done interviewing Anders Helman, and wondering if they altered dialog with 2.0? My memory sucks, but this is the first time I remember the Relic being described as an experimental chip designed to transplant the personality, memories, identity from a person to a corpse. Maybe the dialog has always been like that?

But because it ended up in Vs head who was not dead, it was triggered upon life ending injury, the chip overcame death, this as an unexpected event for the chip creator.

So why didn’t it save or reanimate Jackie? It was first in Jackie’s head, but he bled to death. V just got a bullet to the head ;), so it must be assumed the chip was able to work with what was left. This is why V’s brain was repaired and is being over written. 🤔

I should go back and play this game. When Sony offered the refund because of bugs I took it.

The game ending all sucked, which doesn't help, but I heard they added some good DLC.

No argument, but there is a great ending imo. :) I've talked about this a lot. The Best ending of the original was awesome for me, if felt like a journey with people who love you, although at this point your character's future is very uncertain.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ending 2 – All Along the Watchtower

(Published before the DLC. I think the DLC adds 3-4 variations of an ending)

A maybe cure can be found in the vanilla game, if you save Takemura at the Parade, which is unadvertised as an option in game. You don't listen to Takemura telling you to save yourself. But my impression is it sucks as an ending, but you can still save him and not be locked into that ending. And now in the DLC, there is a cure with a crummy ending which I've just read about and think I'd hate it.

Leaving California Panam V 2021.jpg
All Along The Watchtower ending

I'd rather ride off into the sunset with my girlfriend and the Nomads as they head out to start a new chapter in their lives, regardless of how long my character has left which is uncertain. Johnny stays behind the black wall and this should have a real positive effect for your future. For those who don't know, that's the original game, not the DLC.

Nomads was my fav yep. I’ll take the unknown to oblivion.
The problem is the cure is a mixed blessing from a story, relationship standpoint. If this was my real life I might take it, however in real life, you’d have a better shot at keeping important relationships in your life. As presented, I’ll take the Nomads and what time I (my character) has left.

I’ll challenge anyone to come up with a game that has a better social dynamic than CP2077. Not because I'm selling it, but because if there is another such game, I’d want to play it.

Significant plot spoilers
Panam and I just saved Saul (Aldecaldo Clan leader), held hostage by another clan and afterwards, we spent the night in a safe house out in the desert. I got the power turned on and sat by the fire discussing events, with her and Saul. We have discussions while walking from point A to B. I had a meeting with Dexter Deshaun in his car, and then a planning meeting with the crew for The Heist. I sat at the bar in the Afterlife, had a drink and later was called by the bartender, who wants to know if a I’d be her driver in a sanctioned, cut throat street race. I’m going to be invited over for dinner to eat, and play a laser game with the nephews. I’m going to go on a date with scuba gear to visit the old neighborhood that’s under water at a reservoir. And there are several opportunities to get intimate with characters.

My only complaint is that when you’ve established such a relationship, you may want more, but story wise, there is nothing. This is why I predict AI will blow this kind of story telling as good as it is for today, out of the water.

These touches do not drag, and they don’t take a lot of time, except for the dinner and separate date sequence (2 different characters), and are above and beyond, elements that can immerse you into the story and the characters. Hence in the story, I’m very hesitant to make a choice that disrupts these relationships and I’m sad to see Johnny go, but it’s me or him and he seems happy at the end with Alt Cunningham.

The DLC offers a definitive cure for V, but imo at a very high price. This is not to say that V could not rebuild her life after the cure, but it fades out as a downer ending imo. You may disagree. Not that I played this ending, just read the specific details of it. ☺️

Its not that I expect some perfect warm and fuzzy ending, its mostly that all but a couple, and arguably only one... are just bleak beyond measure if you think about what it really means.....

I think that’s from 2.0, I’ve had to fight more after the update.
i may have mentioned this but in several fights now, I’m discovering cops in the fight shooting at me, and I have no idea what triggered this. I‘ve discovered that if you accidentily kill a pedestrian with your vehicle, and the cops chase you, they have magic vehicles, can keep up with and kill you. On the minimap, it looks like a red dot on your trail. It might be better to stop, get out and go vertical. 🤔

In real life, you might choose life, and you might have more control over who you still have in your life, but the cure ending as constructed strikes me as grim.

It helps to be in denial mode. 😝 The Watch tower ending, arguably the best ending, the chip process represented by Silverhand, his persona stays beyond black wall, so while uncertain, the establishment of his persona in you head is halted. The narrative does not really address this, but it is grounds for hope for V’s future, imo. And this ending is super if you want some warm and fuzzies of a journey completed with characters who support and love you… at least this is what I got out of it. :)

There is no part of me that believe that having my brain patterns recreated or taken over by a computer means that I am still alive.............

There is no part of me that believe that having my brain patterns recreated or taken over by a computer means that I am still alive.............
This is one of my philosophical arguments that goes back to Star Trek. If there is a computer that could capture every characteristic of your brain including your memories, if they could be transferred to a bionic or a biological organism, would this be you or a computer that thinks it’s you? I vote for the latter, even as other people who knew you, might think it’s you and for all intents and purposes externally it would be received as you.🙂 Actually this an argument for something that makes you, you, that exists beyond flesh and blood.

And let’s say you are the Android who has recieved these memories, you’d never know that your memories belong to someone else, unless someone told you. 🙃 This idea has been explored as far back as the early 60s on The Twilight Zone. (maybe earlier?)

Voodoo Boys, Alt Cunningham and Moral Choices
Spoilers

This sequence is one of the most impressive narrative experiences I’ve ever enjoyed playing a game.

Pacifica Impreial Mall.jpg

Imperial Mall, Pacifica

I visited the Voodoo Boys in Pacifica, such an outstanding environment. To get their help you need to do a mission for them, infiltrate an abandoned mall, where a Netrunner has set up operations. It’s in their turf, and they want to know what’s going on. It appears that to the VBs, you‘re expendable and you discover he’s there seeking to exploit the VBs data fortress in part searching for the relic that’s in your head, that you stole, that no one knows where it is.

Face to face with the Netrunner he offered me a deal. This guy is with Netwatch, and he tells me that the VBs frequently hire outside help and kills them afterwards, that accessing his network, a planted virus would kill me. I know for a fact you can survive this virus, but I still opted to debilitate him, the VBs unleash their virus and it does almost kill me. If I play again I’ll definitely side with the Netrunner.

As is, back at VB central, I ended up speaking with Bridget who was surprised I was still alive. I suppose if I died in the mall, they would’ve retrieved the chip from my body, but actually I’m not sure in hindsight if they knew this chip was in my head. 🤔 The VB leader, was looking for a lead on a character Alt Cunningham, now an AI entity, who might help me with a “chip that’s eating my brain” problem, they want her for assistance in the coming war that they’re sure is certain. This requires a deep dive into cyberspace heading for the black wall, the place where rogue AI reside and me being emerged in a tub of ice water to jack in.

This leads to an amazing sequence of Johnny Silverhand’s memories, an on stage performance 50 years prior, his relationship with Alt, a premier Net Runner and revealed to be author of Soul Killer, some first person PG sex with her, R-ish nudity, then soon after as you and her are heading out, you’re assaulted and she is her abducted by Arasaka, followed by his effort, helped by a young Rogue to save her.

Is it me or is this "Red Engine" (graphics engine), a cut above and beyond? It's looks better than what Bethesda uses in Starfield.

Alt and Johnny.jpg
With Alt, lighting a cigarette

Now she is an AI entity residing in cyberspace. You speak with her and are assured of her help. Popping out of the ice bath, I opted to attack the VBs and fight my way out, because they had tried to off me, but mostly I knew I could get a high level long coat out of the deal, off of one of her lieutenants. They were using me and I was expendable so… Anyway the jokes on me, lol! 😅 After update 2.0 all the armor characteristics were removed from clothing. 😐

As is, the VBs are enemies, a good chunk of them are dead, and I’ve scooped up a lot of high level gear. Decisions! ☺️

The Satori Katana with something like a 500% critical chance during combat, used to be the best sword in Night City. With the v2.0 patch, it’s been nerfed, the crit stats greatly reduced, however, it’s still a great sword for early in the game. I’m still researching what the new best sword might be, but this is not one to pass up. It must be looked for during The Heist in Kompecki Plaza. Hint: When the **** hits the fan, instead of immediately fleeing out the window, head up the stairs within the apartment to the roof, then after retrieving it (with a fight) back down the stairs and out the window to the ledge.

IMG_3351.jpeg

Combat- I’ll also add that combat feels tougher playing “hard” as compared to pre patch. On several occasions, I’m now finding that police are entering my fights, shooting at me. I’m a lawfully licensed law enforcement subcontractor* and the only thing I can think of is that bullet ricochets whether mine or the enemies are aggroing officers in the immediate vicinity, and they treat me as a bad guy.
Post patch I‘ve been attacked twice on the street when a vehicle full of thugs (gang members I’ve made enemies of) pulls up and they pile out, or they chase me If I flee. There now is freely available vehicle combat. Driving an armed vehicle (machine guns) gives you a definite edge over leaning out your window while trying to drive

* Citizens are encouraged to legally fight criminals. In fact any gang member with a yellow chevron (warrant issued) over their heads can be executed at will, regardless of their crimes..

I fought the law- In one fight, I said screw it, and killed 3 officers during a brawl, and it took me quite a while to shake the law. Once you get into the lawless mode, which I don’t promote, police cars start arriving, and if you flee in a vehicle, they will chase you and road blocks will be set up. It becomes a mess, and without doubt, distracts you from your quests. 😐

At 50 Street Cred, with a melee, sniper, pistol build, I’m feeling my power.

Stunning shots. Yesterday I walked around in Dog Town. Seriously, we'll unlikely see many games like CP2077 in a while. The attention to detail and commitment to visual art is near unmatched. Almost every single area and corner of the Dog Town is unique.

There is no filler content like expansive open spaces or repeated assets. This includes areas that you are unlikely to explore during missions. It's truly a game a beauty and it doesn't look 4 years old. It's a bummer that the multiplayer mode was cancelled. However, given how demanding the game it, I don't think many PC gamers would ahve had head room for multiplayer.

I'm deep into my current playthrough and definitely had Jackie's Ofrenda ... from what I understand
whether or not it happens depends entire on how you choose to have Delemain deal with Jackie's corpse.
I have always made the choice
to send it to his mother.

I’m so disappointed. I’ve always attended that event. I think this time I told my Ripper Doc buddy to take care of it instead of his family? 🙁 This game in my experience is a first with these kinds of social interactions, and for those who have not played, there are a string of them that make the game feel more real, life like than any other I’ve played.

Totally agree - the extent to which you can impact how the event plays out really draws me into it every time!

The Red Graphics Engine, looks like it’s a cut above…

The Main quest was designed as a solo act, the companion quests are also solo adventures. You’re diving into brain dances searching for clues, going on dates, attending a crusifiction, that sort of thing. ;) You alone are dealing with a chip in your head. I don’t know how you’d blend multiplayer into this, without just have a game built on gigs, small jobs for fixers, but as is they are just the right size for one person. And multiplayer would deminish the solo narrative as to destroy it imo. Imo, this must be a solo adventure. They’d need to create an entirely new settimg with a different game structure to allow for multiplayer.

Yeah, Night City is the most amazing city ever created from scratch. It’s monumental. And the games social structure is amazing. Speaking of Dog Town, this quest comes up fairly early in the game, and for this play through I’ve decided before I meet up with Takemura and the parade, I’m gonna go do the DLC and help the President out, then go back to the vanilla ending.

One of the issues a new player might perceive is this push to hurry, I need you for this, or you need to do that right away. In fact, you can take your time and do things in the order that you want to do them, and as far as I can tell the quests wait for you. So if you’re supposed to meet Judy at sundown it might be today or tomorrow or a couple of days, and it doesn’t really seem to matter, which I’m grateful for because otherwise if the quests were perishable, you’d be forced to choosing one over the other, and I want to experience it all. :)

Yeah. Dog Town doesn't 100% fit with the main story but it's fine. For me the DLC is another opportunity to play the game.

Given the wide variety of weapons and abilities, online multiplayer would have been wild. Like awesome battles in Phantom liberty but dialed diale dup to 10. I would have loved to use Sandevista against 5 other online players.

I hope that many of the mechanics in CP2077 carry over. Although I don't love UE5 at least it's designed for multiplayer from the ground up which should make development alot easier.

I could see Night City loading as a separate PVP battle arena. :) …as long as overhead and latency would not be an issue. 🤔
