“Police Brutality, Law Enforcement Subcontractor Justice” (dirty cops, I’m the subcontractor), I had a green light for this one. The live one is the citizen victim who says he has no idea why the police were beating him, hmm. The cops are not about to discuss it with you and attack if challenged.

AI talk-
The police brutality image in the last post. One thing I can easily see is AI, although part of me is afaid of it causing the end of the world as we know it, AI in a game like this would open up conversations hugely, more opportunity to talk to adversaries before the killing starts. Maybe make it easier to allow these interactions to become more organic and sometimes avoid conflict. Most hoodlums if you don’t get out of their space will attack you, no conversation.

In this game, this example, the police all had golden chevrons over their heads which means not only are they about to be hostile, but they are fair game, not causing the entire force to come down on you when you attack them. I believe for the cops and often Militech a paramilitary's group of thugs who are not crminals under the law, those chevrons indicate dirty cops or paramilitary. For criminals who have chevrons, a scan reveals they have warrants for their arrest, making them fair game. Technically you could arrest them, but the criminals always put up a fight and it’s you or them, unless you run away. ;)

However since The V2 Patch, I’ve more often found police shooting at me in public brawls where I Was functioning as a law enforcement sub contractor.

As is, if the police observe you approaching them they will will go though a transition period, waving you back, while putting their hands on their guns or drawing and pointing their guns. as an eyeball floating in their vicinity, meaning they see you, will transition from yellow to red. I imagine with AI, there’d be a case where it would be easier to say “what’s happening here?”, and you might end up saying that over your mic to the game. :)

In a previous play through, playing a guy, and romancing PanAm, after you establish her girl friend status, it seemed difficult to see her. Sometimes I'd head out to the Nomad Camp and could not find her. Not sure if you could invite her over to her place, like you can Judy Alverez.

In contrast for this 4th play through, Judy Alverez is my girl friend, she is gay, and I'm playing a girl V this time. In a previous play though, I would go to her place to visit, she'd be standing, looking out the window, and you'd have a very limited spectrum of discussion, so limited it's not really worth it, unless you are into roll playing and this is where you want to spend you end of game sessions. You could sleep over and would wake up in the morning with her beside you. Sometimes at the end of a play session I would head over there and have the 2 default 1 sentence conversations. 😚

On this, my forth play through, I don't know if this is the result of a patch, but there are "want to see you" quests, where she comes over to you place. I recently discovered, if you invite her over to your apartment to "see each other", that if you jump into the shower, she says "be right there".

Judy Shower 2.jpg
And if you need to rest, she will craw into bed next to you. There are options to dance, to cuddle, caressing hair, and a kiss, but the last 3 are on the sofa and no other hanky panky. Conversation is just as limited as ever. Note, this is where AI will come into a future game.

I love the Judy romance for my Corpo femme V. But I also agree that it feels like they got 90% of the way there, and could have even done some basic random extra lines of interaction that would have boosted it even further ... AI would have been great, but I bristle at the thought of losing REAL voice acting (and the talented voice actors losing jobs).

Wait, your not playing a Nomad??? 😜 That story line is the best imo.
I agree, although it’s limited, in this regard, it’s better than any other RPG type game, I’ve been exposed to. I’m playing Starfield concurrently and the companion interactions there are cringe worthy and annoying, like every single time we return to the ship, I hear “it’s so good to be back on our ship”. And that bit, “do you have something for me?”, and no, not talking about sex ;), but it’s as if I actually expect little trinkets be given to me by crew members. Who thought this garbage up?

Regarding AI, I agree with you, but AI will just be the next STEP in a long history of corporations eliminating humans from their work forces, replaced by automation, in the name of efficiency and PROFITS. If we are human, especially if we are Capitolists, it seems inevitable. 😔 This can always change though.🤔 Seperately, there could be real actors saying lines, and AI constructing sentence organization to interact with questions asked via a mic.

Not reading the spoilers! Finally bought the game tonight for 50% off - we'll see how it goes. :)
Tried all 3, I prefer Nomad. Not a spolier, but a perspective not that you could not figure this out on your own…There’s the main plot, Part 1 & 2, surrounded by GIGs, Illegal Alerts for Law Enforcement Contractors (you), and companion related quests. At first I was not happy with the GIGs and Alerts until I started viewing them as tactical training exercises to gain street cred and raise skills. Participating in as many of them as are offered noticible increases your lethalness.

I don’t consider myself a stellar melee fighter, but I play this game on ‘hard’ primary katana, backed up with pistol, shotgun, sniper rifle, and when I reach about level 45 even on hard, I’m waltzing through most encounters, some judgement is required, and don’t underestimate the power of hacks directed at enemies. Contagion is one of the, if not most powerful group hacks. It turns adversaries with skull icons floating over them into fairly easy marks. I’m heavy into Reflex, Body, and Cool skills.

Since the V2 patch, I’ve found that my pistol which I could easily one shot (head shot) enemies is not nearly as effective. I don’t like machine guns or rifles, but do use a sniper rifle and shot gun on occasion, what I use most often is the Katana. This plus heavy investment in movement and attack buffs makes for a wild exhilarating combat experience. You become a slicing, dicing blur of lethality. 😁

Visit the Ripper Doc and Net Runner shop often. You can break down gear and weapons and use these to upgrade your body augmentations at the Ripper Doc, so not as often having to buy upgraded components. A second heart definitely keeps the fight going! 😁

Radar Love- the single most challenging Gig in the game, a desert motel, gas station, garage type place taken over by Militech and a radar, electronic monitoring truck. You are tasked to steal this truck from the garage and deliver it to the handler who hired you. There are about 20 bad guys and for me, a temptation to try to plow through them all at once. Well, I got close, but I died and there is no option to save during a fire fight.

This is fun enough to go back and try different ways to succeed without dieing. Disclaimer, it took me 4 tries to complete so I already got practise. :)

That said, I approached this with the attitude of killing everyone. There‘s a guy in the water tower and one on the roof, easy to eliminate from stealth. From there it gets dicey. I jumped to the garage roof where there is one of 3 turrets. Eliminated the camera, but there is no way to rip the turret off it’s stand to hand fire this heavy gun, without setting off the alarm. The roof is a pretty good place to take on soldiers who brave coming up the steps.

This encounter reveals the weakness of the AI which is fairly predictable and easy to defeat. Avoid areas where large numbers of adversaries have shots at you, circle, move fast strike, don’t get bogged down and you’ll prevail. I’m at a point where 3-5 don’t stand a chance opposing me in close proximity, my movement and attack damage abilities are insane. The problem is when taking on 5-10 heavily armed with clear shots at you.

For fun, there are situations that ask for stealth, I do the stealth and after the assignment is complete and I’m paid, sometimes I’ll go back in and kill everyone with a yellow chevron over their heads. For Radar Love, I plan on trying to stealth my way in, via the water tower, then roof to the garage and driving out to see how many will chase me? I believe they will chase me, and there is the ability to fire from your vehicle while driving. 😄 The handler is based close by, so you’d better lose the pursuit before going there.

Phantom Liberty DLC- I started this before after a long period of not playing Cyberpunk 2077, starting cold from a save, straight into the dlc, and boy was I out of practise. This time I‘m warmed up and started it before finishing the original story line. Initially what I dislike, are dark congested, vertical environments, watch your step or die, embarrassed to say several times, stepping off a ledge. And in a fight to extract The President from the wreckage of an aircraft, in the Middle of Dog town where it was brought down by a bad guy, there are so many bad guys, it’s harder for me to keep my suspension of disbelief going. I’m doing pretty well with a sword, but I‘ve reverted to a shotgun frequently, and I’m not wearing any significant armor and the idea that so many people are shooting at me, it’s a bit unrealistic to think I could survive this. Suspension, turned back on. 😁

It was a Gig, assigned by a fixer. I’d say it was more challenging due to numbers of adversaries, but not overly hard and this makes it fun.
First time I snuck in by the rear right side there was an opening, allowed me to slowly take everyone out until it was a manageable crowd.. Current run I was high level so I just ran in, sniped the snipers and used my Katana and Sandevistan to absolutely destroy everyone fast.

Oddly I’ve not been using Sandevistan, the same as I approached VATS in Fallout 4 because that feels just to unrealistic to me, and have been able to get by without it. I do have a perk in CP77 that slows time down when I’m close to death, but if everything is slow, including me, I’m not understanding the advantage it’s providing. 🤔

Let us know your thoughts!

I'm only a few hours in (of course all sorts of life-thingies decided to pop up this week!), but at @Huntn 's recommendation I've started as a Nomad. I'm having a great time, and it plays nicely on my setup (5800X3D/4070). I'm amazed by how 'full' the city feels!

Looking forward to digging deeper this weekend, and my Steam Deck will let me take the fun with me to work next week. :)

Right, I'm just saying I found it easy. :)
You using Sandevision?😉 For me through some trial and error it became easy. Not using Sandevision at all, the first time, I killed the turret in the courtyard, threw contagion at the skull guy, and just launched into them With my katana, and almost made it. 😁 Then I move to more tradional methodology other than frontal assault.

The Corpo and Street Kid starts don’t feel as good to me, in fact they all feel short changed, and maybe they were. They eached deserved to have a quest chain to establish them in Night City, not a ‘wild and crazy’ cut scene to illustrate how you get established.

The city feels so good, as I’ve said, it seems like you should be able to walk up to anyone on the street and engage in conversation, which sadly is not the case.

I wouldn't have minded more - but what I love about the Corpo is that you have an intimate awareness of how Arasoka and others operate from the inside and are able to either call out nonsense or dig deeper into details at a large number of points throughout the game. There is even a quest where a former coworker plans to throw you under the bus to advance their own aims - and you can get numerous outcomes.

No, I just sniped everyone.

You mean the only quest…. :)

Usually if I'm not sniping I'm sneaking around and avoiding fighting anyone at all, as that adds extra challenge.
It does, the stealth missions are challenging, fun in a different way. I enjoyed them. Yet I have gotten myself into a power melee build and feel the rush when I’m waltzing though enemies, slicing and dicing. So if entering a building filled with bad guys, my usual goal is to kill them all. Yeah harsh, but bad guys hardly ever surrender.

This evening, ok, I have a confession, I have cyberware that slows dowm time when I’m 25% from death, that’s not Kerensikov, as you all likely know. I’ve not used Kerenzikov till tonight along with Sandevision. These two abilities together are so crazy over powered, it certainly feels like cheating. 🫣 I mean it’s too much at the hard level. I might try the next level difficulty. I’m going to repeat Radar Love, for a new impression of that Gig with Sandevision equipped since I’m primarily melee.

Kerenzikov is bullet time for ranged attacks, but I’ll put that aside. Sandevision is brutal in melee combat. I’ve tweaked my Cyberware, and I’m so fast now, it’s even more crazy, and if ever I feel bogged down, getting into trouble, Sandevision slows time, but your attacks keep coming fast. In essence it gives you about 500%, if not more power. This will be good for repeating the Save The President quest, in a more agressive manner during the big fight there (Phantom liberty DLC).

Now Sandevision for lack of a regular CPU, removes all your hack attacks, but it gives you the equivalent of bullet time, so, you might think your naked on stealth missions, no longer abile to hack, disable cameras at will. But using the higher level of SV which is an on demand variation, you can wait a bit or use it to zip past cameras. And it can be turned off, at the end, so as not to use the entire charge. I can see on serious stealth missions you might want to requip to a regular CPU package that has hack abilities. I’m also going to try my silenced pistol to take cameras out to see if this triggers the alarms. And I’ve read that later in the game might be the best time to start using Sandevision.
