So I'm noticing in my recent play throughs, more bugs and oddities. No where near the game crashing problems found on the PS4, but just minor issues. For instance, seeing floating assets, like a datapad, I couldn't grab it or anything, it was just floating. I was in a location where a legendary item was supposed to be, and it wasn't. Quitting the game, and loading a prior save and going back to that location had the weapon there. Doing that same quest, I was supposed to search a dead body, yet nothing was there. I needed to reload the game again.

Again, not game killing problems (provided a reload fixes it), but they're annoying

This whole situation is nuts. Has a AAA game every been completely removed from the Playstation store before?

Some advice on the game, I'll try to avoid spoilers but at one part of the main quest you need to choose Evelyn or not. I was non-committal and the game dialog seemed to indicate you can choose her by calling - I can call, but there's no dialog options to choose. Did I miss my chance? I'd rather not go back to the meeting with her to make that choice, too much game play occurred between then and now. I don't know what the future will bring and I'm afraid I may close off some game choices

Without giving anything away I did go speak to Evelyn at the beginning of the game and got a mission from her. I'm currently in the middle of a couple of missions where she is the focus of attention. I can't remember if I initially called her to set up the meeting.

I couldn't seem to re-pick her once the option passed, and as I said, I had too much game play between that part of the quest and now. I'll see what happens as the game infolds, I guess this may prompt a second play though at some point as I may want to try different options.

No never has, the video I linked too mentioned Batman: Arkham Knight was pulled from steam, but that was done by the developer, this is Sony flexing its muscle saying enough.

I think its more CYA, because both Sony and MS have to approve a game (or updates) to be available, and its quite clear both dropped the ball as the game is simply not playable on legacy consoles. Still its a drastic step that will hurt CD Projekt. I'm assuming they're running around now trying to spin this and stop the bleeding.

This goes beyond fallout 76's horrible start, where bugs were plentiful, or Anthem.

CDPR probably told Sony and MS that the game will be finished on the 10th and they took CDPR's word for it.

Trust has clearly been betrayed. Going forward it will be preferable that people at Sony and MS get full access to play a game before customers are invited to pre-order.

At least some of the revenue generated can to towards hiring more developers to solve issues across platforms.

It seems pretty incredible that they ran the game on console dev kits and didn’t see the crazy bad frame rates.

But then again we used to be more accepting of frame drops...

I remember it like it was yesterday... my PC was a beast when it released, and it was unplayable. Luckily, Steam put in a new return policy like a week before it released... like they knew there was going to be an issue with performance on PC's. I bought it for my kids PS4 also... and couldn't believe how smoothed it played.

So... how do you like driving around in the City? Motorcycle or Car? I like my motorcycle, but I drive too fast... catching air, and end up flying like superman... LOL. End up driving a car for a few blocks, then call for motorcycle again... all fixed up. :)

The driving mechanics are horrible, and I actually mostly walk/run so i can jump on any action that might notice. I'll just steel a car when I need too or use the default that is available early on
Driving is easier with the controller, I switch back and forth with KBM. If there is a car or motorcycle left over from a mission or fight, I'll drive them until I lose it... then I go back to my vehicles.

I think CDPR will inevitably rid themselves of previous-gen headaches by announcing that DLC, story extensions will be PC and current gen only.

If this will be the path then they will need to let people know as soon as possible.

CD Projekt Red is a publicly traded company. The market has been following this debacle; share prices will likely continue to plummet.
As I predicted, CD Projekt Red is getting spanked by the market.

Their US ADR is currently down 13.5% today meaning they probably shed US$1.1 billion in market capitalization in less than four trading hours.

That's what happens when you mislead investors.

They have failed their primary responsibility as a publicly held company: to increase shareholder value.

Good opportunity for the management to buy the dip. 😎

The stock and game will likely have recovered in 6-12 months when more current gen consoles are in people's hands and previous gen are a fading memory.

Yeah, I personally don't invest in individual companies anymore. I stick with index and sector ETFs and ETNs.

It is a good opportunity for CDPR to initiate a stock buyback if that sort of thing is acceptable to the Polish securities agency in charge of such matters.

The CDPR management is probably forbidden from buying back shares of their own company on a dip. That would likely raise the eyes of the securities agency as market manipulation. Shareholders tend not to like that sort of thing.

I am not an expert on Polish securities law. However, share buyback has not been uncommon during the pandemic.

Ultimately it's up the cofounders to decide whether they want to be a private indie without the pressures of investor calls, or be listed studios that could be snapped up buy EA.

Cyberpunk could have a life cycle of 7-10 years. The size of prize is substantial because it's the closest rival to one of the most successful franchises of all times........GTA.

The priority now should be to rebuild trust. That will be best done through transparency. E.g what exactly will future patches address and not address, release window for next gen patch and what to expect from the multiplayer game.

It's getting worse for CDPR.

Microsoft has started offering refunds to CP2077 customers although they have not delisted the title from the Xbox store.

Best Buy changed their return policy and they are now offering refunds on opened physical media.

CD Projekt Red is offering refunds out of their own pocket for dissatisfied CP2077 customers who purchased the title from other merchants.

And their own employees are disgruntled with management:

In Japan the CEO of such a failure would typically step down.

Maybe CDPR should include some dumpster fires in their next game update. You know, for added realism...

They could even throw in some loot boxes in the burning dumpsters with rich rewards to players who can figure out how to put out the inferno.

😝

While I am personally waiting for a while to play CP2077, it looks like the real-life CDPR bungling is as entertaining as the game itself without any of the performance penalty to those with old hardware.

What happens next? Will GameStop back down on their plea for gamers to wait until the alleged December 21st patch? Does anyone honestly believe that most of the legacy console problems will be solved by next week's patch?

This is one thing that really bothers me. It's the year 2077. I should be able to have some implant that shows me where to turn on the road itself. I shouldn't have to look at a tiny square in the top right of the screen. And why can't I hire the talking taxi to take me places?

It's 2077. The vehicles should all be autonomous. There should be a mini-bar in the passenger compartment.

They are. That is the funny part you can call your vehicle and it comes to you.... For some reason they won’t let you let the computer drive you places...

Gamespot will accept consumer refunds and return copies to their distributor or the games publisher. Basically who ever they invoiced.

Bugs will inevitably be sorted. However I am doubtful whether legacy consoles will ever be able to play the game above 20fps without significant compromises.

They could reducs texture quality and NPCs but that would result in a drastically watered down experience.

I am playing on Series X and have only encountered two bugs.

CD Projekt Red's US ADR share price dropped 15% today. From $31.25 on December 4th to today's close of $18.63 is -40%.

GREAT JOB GUYS EXECUTING THAT GAME LAUNCH!!!

The next annual CDPR shareholder meeting should be, uh, quite lively.

Here's PC Gamer's recap of CD Projekt Red's week:

And they don't even mention the train wreck of their plummeting share price and epic loss of market capitalization.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I’ll just leave this here:

“One employee asked the board why it had said in January that the game was “complete and playable” when that wasn’t true, to which the board answered that it would take responsibility. Another developer asked whether CD Projekt’s directors feltit was hypocritical to make a game about corporate exploitation while expecting that their employees work overtime. The response was vague and noncommital.”

Many industry observers have wondered why Cyberpunk 2077, which was first announced in 2012 and was delayed three times in 2020, still appears to be unfinished. Several current and former staff who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 have all said the same thing: The game’s deadlines, set by the board of directors, were always unrealistic. It was clear to many of the developers that they needed more time.”

To be clear, I paid $65 with tax for a hardcopy physical game for the Xbox, and I’m completely satisfied with it. But if I had to look on the other side of the spectrum, this is a very similar launch what happened to NMS developed by Hello games. As matter fact, it’s almost identical, the game was unfinished, the crashes and bugs were nearly unplayable in some aspects, (the gameplay was not an accurate representation of what was demoed on national television), but The directing board added more developers, change gameplay elements, and of course built the game what is today, offering multiple modes and graphic enhancements.

For now, The restructuring will inevitably be a part of the CDPR‘s new platform, and I think they have a lot of potential, but being that this developer doesn’t really release games on an annual basis, means that they need to put continual work to make this project ‘better’ than what it was and stay committed to the players who did not request a refund.

Realistically, I would say this game will probably be a more mature platform by 2022, I don’t mean just ‘patching bugs and framework issues’, I mean refining the game in a sense that it looks more complete than it just plays.
