Also, could you let us know the week number on the new computer? The week number is the two digits located on the serial number after the 7.

Simply beautiful laptop.

Which Week?

Look at the serial number. The numbers after the first 7 show the week.

As for screen, go to System Prefs-> Display-> Color. Open the Color LCD profile and look at line 13. The Model with be either 9C67 (LG) or 9C68 (Samsung)

So, I'm a little confused...

No problem finding the screen info, but I can't quite figure out the week it was made.

Is it:

"after the first 7 digits", which gives me WX

Or

"after the first #7 we find" which gives me 25

:) Thanks

oops, that would be the #7. So that would be week 25.

Screen has a yellow cast, but this is likely due to it not being calibrated.
HOWEVER, I've found that the screen wont tilt back as far as the two other older MBPs I've compared it to. I've posted my findings in this thread, please contribute with your own findings.

How did Apple handle your return?

I first called apple care and setup a case number and they said that i had 30 days to return if it was DOA. I took it to the apple store and showed them the case number so they let me talk to the manager and he said that they could swap it out but they didnt have any glossy displays in stock. I went ahead and took the matte finish and was really happy when i got home to find out it was a lg display.

the first computer was week 22 and the new one is week 26

I think it's quite ironic, that as I was posting the status of my SR Macbook Pro, the machine froze on me. So, i took it into the genius bar, and it kernel panicked on me.

So, needless to say, my machine is with apple right now.

Just a tip, I just did a advanced calibration on my display, and its like night and day compared to the default config. The whites are not yellow anymore.

:)

Did calibrating the LCD fix the problem: No
Did exchanging the MBP fix the problem: No, This is the exchange

I really hope Apple addresses this. I see on their discussion board under the MacBook Pro>Display forum that quite a few people are also getting this issue.

I think I will personally stop exchanging because I the last one I had was LG and also had the problem. This seems to be a random but prevalent problem and exchanging it over and over probably will just end with the same results.

Other Comments:
I'm on my third MBP. First one had screen dimming issues, second one had kernel panics caused by hardware, issue with the wireless and much more.

This one works great (knock on wood). I did have one issue with the system prefs, and after talking to Apple care for 2hours(!) I hope it'll be ok. But the apple care guy messed up a lot of other things that will take me some time to fix.
