is there anyway you can find out exactly what time you ordered?

If you received the confirmation email shortly after ordering, this is a good indication of the time you ordered. If it was delayed, then I'm not sure.

Count me among the ones who ordered a 16GB White 4S and are apparently getting the shaft by Verizon. I added it to my cart at 2:58am (eastern standard time), checked out by 3:02am and received confirmation of my order at 3:07am. It said on the website that the phone would ship to arrive by or on 10/14, and it said the following on the confirmation email:

"Thank you for your order. It is being processed and will be shipped to arrive on 10/14/11."

It said the same all day up until tonight when it suddenly changed to a ship date of 10/21. WTF? I stayed up til 3am to order this thing and am going to be quite mad if Verizon doesn't send the phone by the day they promised it would arrive. If I had known they'd pull this, I would have just went with Apple.com instead.

And yes, palenran, it kind of is important. It's not that I cannot wait an extra week for an iPhone (I can), it's that a company has essentially lied to us. If they had said it should ship to arrive on the 14th, that'd be entirely different. But when you PROMISE a phone to arrive on a certain date and then you go back on your word, that is not ethical.
 
I signed up for brand new service with Sprint. I ordered a white 32 and 16 gig. My money has been taken from my account. Called sprint and they even verified my 2 new phone numbers. I had them ordered around 2.45 so looks like im good to go. Now just waiting for a tracking number

As someone who also ordered a pair of white 16gbs at 3:30am last night, I can feel your pain. But, this isn't about ethics, it's about a technical f@ck up.

I cancelled my orders, upgraded them to 32gbs, and re-ordered. My ship date is back to 10/14 now. Strangely, I tried to order it on apple.com and I got denied...they told me I had to go to a Verizon retailer. Not sure what that was all about but whatever, i've got my confirmation in hand and will be making calls all over the place this Friday.
 
Thank you for giving me hope. :p I find it hard to believe they won't be sending out a single 16GB phone for a full week.

Okay so, EVERYONE's 16gb is showing Oct. 21, Correct? But If we ordered it before 6pm, We should still get it by the 14th?
 
how are all of you able to cancel your order? When i talked to a customer sales rep he told me that i wont be cancel and i would have to deny delivery or something lame like that
 
16GB white here with same issue. Got my confirmation at 7:07 AM central to ship on 10/14, and now it's showing 10/21. I'll wait until I can talk to a rep in the morning before I flip out. Could just be an error coinciding with the current ship dates.
 
For what it's worth I called support at Verizon and they confirmed I'd receive my 16GB White 4S on 10/14. I received my confirmation email at 3:01 am EST. I don't know how much I believe them, but since Apple is now backordered not much choice but to find out.

Exactly. Something in their system converts ship dates to what ever the expected ship date is for current stock.

It is not a coincidence that all of our ship date's changed when the current stock's ship date changed. I bet it will move again if their stock becomes even more back ordered over the weekend, but we will still get ours on release day or sooner.
 
Makes me wonder if Verizon will be able to get most of them out on time just fine but due to the large preorders they are trying to cover their ass and think no one will notice.
 
i ordered at 3am and it still says the 14th. i had called them yesterday and they said they would be overnighting them to us. i bet apple is in charge of the shipping.
 
Its been said before but should be said again: its a phone, not life or death. Calm down a bit. Its not worth getting worked up over.

You have to call back and get another rep - 2nd time was a charm - I cancelled and ordered thru Apple

Or you can just accept the fact that their system is displaying the date incorrectly and that you'll have your phone on or before 10/14. I'm 99.999% sure that's exactly what's going to happen for various reasons that have already been shared by myself and others numerous times in this thread.
 
you people need to stop. There are six pages about what is CLEARLY a simple bug in their system. Nobody is seriously concerned about this, right?

As for it being a "system-wide glitch", I believe we may now be able to test that theory. Verizon has now listed a ship date of 10/21 for ALL configurations of the 4S on their order page. If it is really a system-wide glitch based on the estimated date for new orders, those who have ordered the 32 or 64 should now be seeing 10/21 as their ship date as well, regardless of what was seen yesterday.

Would anyone who ordered a 32 or 64 mind checking their order status and reporting back?

you can do it from the same page that you did the pre order, theres something you click in the top right that says search/cancel i think then you put in your pre order number and your last name and you can cancel you order. i wanted to change fro the 16 to the 32 so i was glad it was so easy.

yes my 32 now says 10/21 but my confirmation email says 10/14

I'm breaking my AT&T contract to move to Verizon. I'm tired of the dropped calls and no service. I wonder if the number port has something to do with a delay?

I ordered a 32GB yesterday @ 2:55a EST and all day yesterday it said my ship date was 10/14. Today it says 10/21. As for when you can expect your delivery? OCTOBER 14TH!

Ordered 32GB white at 3.20 and received confirmation about 2 hours later, showing 10/21 since today.
Very nice done Verizon.
 
Ordered a 32gig black with case. 10/14 till this morning, now 10/21. I sent them an email and they said it's going to process on 10/13 and be delivered on the 14th.

My guess: They're shipping them on Monday, holding them at the shipping centers for delivery on the 14th. If you're CC doesn't go through, they'll recall the shipment. If it goes through, they'll release it for shipment on the 14th. Because of the processing on 13th they assume it'll ship in a week like all other products. The automated system is not taking into account the abnormal circumstances.
 
my order for the 32 phone jut changed to 10/21, coincidence with the fact that all phones are showing an availability date of 10/20 on Verizon's website? I'm going with yes. I think their system is just mirroring what their current stock is. I'm not running off to cancel my order that I placed before 3am. We'll get it friday, try not to freak out too much...
 
I ordered a 32GB white at 2:52am (Eastern). My confirmation email says 10/14. The website now says 10/21. I hope that isn't the case.
