Tried my "local" Apple Store but they didn't have the 15" in any of the variations in stock.

Spoke to both again today on the phone, neither offering any further help and basically just blaming the other for the transaction not completing correctly.... guess that's the end of my MacBook Pro journey for this year as the order is now at its 7th day of failing to process.

Mine's being delivered Monday :D

Guess Apple have decided my fate.... really not sure what I'm supposed to do now....

Is reordering not an option? New orders are only 1-2 weeks out at this point. Granted the additional wait won't be fun, but at least it's not 6 weeks. The only other options are buy a stock MBP, a different computer all together or buy nothing.

Also, username checks out.

**** man... I'm so sorry which model did you order?

It was for the 15" 2.7/1TB/460 :(

I'm away traveling for three months at the start of the new year and would fear it didn't arrive in time, there are no 15" tMBP available from what I can see through the Apple website so I won't be able to purchase one locally unfortunately :(

A different computer is inevitably the only option I'm left with, although this close to Christmas I'm most likely pushing my luck with that too

Haha.... tell me about it, I'm laughing now but crying on the inside....

Now I just need to decide what I'm going to do with th accessories I've bought.....

Actually it looks like you also have to add a week to the lead time for BTO models.

Sorry to hear this, it must be incredibly frustrating for you. I think I found an answer on why and how this could have happened, from a search of similar issues. As it turns out, the closest event out there, also came from Macrumors.

Reading this might also provide you with a picture of what you now could choose to do.
Jan 14, 2008: I wouldn't use PayPal for a large amount of money.

As soon as a large sum goes into your account, it's not unknown for PayPal to freeze your account, citing that they suspect fraudulent activity.

PayPal have an appalling attitude towards their 'customers' and will make you fax over personal details before making you wait 180 days to unfreeze the account.

Just a note, stores will stock the 2.9/1tb/460. the trick is seeing what stores have them. if you would like to PM me a few store locations i would be happy to call them for you to try to see if they have any of them in stock.

Just got my shipping email... my MacBook Pro is scheduled to arrive 12/22 by end of day!

On a strange note, Apple had authorized my card before, then put the money back in my acct. Again a few days ago they took the money out again when my status changed to P4S. Now they shipped the thing and put the money back in my account again. I know they will charge it, but it just seemed odd to ship it and put the money back in my account again.

Three days from charge to PTS, now three days waiting for it to change to actual "shipped" - what the F, am I going to get stuck waiting maximum times for each phase? Many people went to shopped after a few hours in PFS, and I'm at three days now. People with Jan 5th dates are already moving, while my Dec 22-29 is still in limbo.

Well..I am with Jan 5 window and I have not even been charged yet. Ordered 7th Dec.

Their methods make no sense whatsoever, with many people with the exact same configs and dates getting wildly different outcomes.

I had a happy result with my 2016 15" MBP. When it went to shipped status, the estimated delivery date was the 20th. Then it changed to the 19th. Then it showed up on my doorstep on the 17th. I got to spend the weekend getting everything migrated from my currently nonfunctional 2011 iMac and the work 2011 MBP. Everything in one place now!

Mine finally shipped too, for Thursday. Its a Christmas miracle. Sarcasm fully intended, considering how long this whole stupid process took.

They can only make them so fast. Mine is set for Thursday as well, ordered 11/17. While I obviously would've liked to have had it earlier, it's not like they aren't making them as quickly as reasonably possible. They want all that revenue lol.

I think they need to make a bunch of various configs before they even announce them and put them up. No more "pre-orders" like this. They can't guess things right 100 percent, but they got years of sales data to give them a good estimate what configs will be most popular. They can certainly make a lot more pre-fabs "stock" models ready to go than other than the two they offer now, for example, in the 15 inch model. E.g., there will always be a reliable number of maxed out US configs demanded. Why weren't any pre-confired and ready to go on release? Also, maxed out, but only with 1TB drives were available to go with the other two stock models they offered, but were very hard to find. That's another popular model they could have stocked up on before announcing it.

Well yeah, but then you're still waiting, you're just waiting longer for the announcement and not as long to receive it afterward. It still nets out to basically receiving the MBP at the same time. Perhaps they would've held off a bit longer if the holiday season wasn't upcoming too.

You don't have to wait for something you don't know exists. At least it would give the impression that Apple has a better handle on stock than they do now.
