Delivery date other than 9/21

I'm so glad I didn't set my alarm for 3am or something silly like that. I ordered around 9:45am EST and delivery date is Oct 5th, same as some who ordered around 3:45-4am.

I suspect Apple, while not holding back inventory, had a very short initial supply of iPhones. It's just unheard of for a phone to completely sell out in less than 1 hour in the middle of the night. Then all the sudden people who ordered over the span of the next 6 hours are all getting theirs on the same day. Doesn't make sense.
 
How can i check my delivery date? I checked on AT&T's site *where i ordered* and there is no date. I got an email saying that itll be delivered the 21st but dont see anything when i track it.
 
No one else seems to have an Oct 2nd delivery date yet? Am I the only one?! Plus why such a gap between the initial launch date and our "second batch" dates? Guess all I can do is hope for that email.

i am guessing that is when the next "batch" of iPhones will be done with manufacturing and be ready to ship; I've heard that the initial supply of iPhones has been sold out...so yeah...
 
I think this coming Monday if my delivery date doesn't change to 9/21, the chance of the delivery date changing to 9/21 few days before the launch date is probably slim to none :(
 
At this point, with no real independent validation of the changed ship date on the forums -- all I see are sites parroting the Apple Insider post -- I'm believing the phone will get here October 5.

I've tried calling Apple to at least change the ship times, but as of yesterday they still weren't answering the phone.

Don't lose hope yet! Tomorrow we may see a status change, even if it isn't the 21st I'm positive it will be moved up.

When I ordered my rMBP it was a Thursday and I stalked apple's site the entire weekend but there weren't any changes until that next Tuesday. More people work during M-F and since they were swamped last Friday I think we may see some better progress tomorrow.

If nothing by Tuesday though, I'm probably just going to throw in the towel myself, put it out of my mind and just be surprised when it gets here. Reading all these shipping status updates is only making me more sad that I missed it by like 5 minutes!
 
Yeah. That two week difference is confusing. I'd have expected it to jump a well t first. Here's hoping it'll get moved up once they have a better idea of inventory.
 
Could have ordered first thing in the morning but lady wanted a commission for Verizon so she called me at 11:30 am on the 14th and my delivery date is for September 26 (09/26/12)....
 
We have seen delivery dates between the 21st and the 1st through carriers but there are zero deliveries between those dates directly from Apple which is absolutely baffling.
 
For what it's worth I have a 4:10 AM confirmation email with an October 5 delivery through Apple.

Yea so I'm hoping the Apple estimate is a gross overestimation and the Oct 5 people (myself included) will actually get it closer to 9/28 or so. Fingers crossed =/
 
3 phones order thru Apple.com on 9/14.

We returned my younger sister's iPhone 4S and preordered her an iPhone 5 and she has a delivery date of October 5th. Luckily for me I was prepared on the 14th to preorder mine at midnight. :)
