Delivery date other than 9/21

i really must be missing something.

to the people who ordered from AT&T, where exactly are you seeing an estimated delivery date? I received only one email from them after ordering saying "your iphone is reserved, should come soon as 21st."

Does anyone of a pic SHOWING that its a october delivery date?
 
I called Apple to try and change the shipping speed of my iPhone. All iPhones, he said, are going to ship the fastest they can so I couldn't move it up to overnight shipping.

I asked about the rumors of the October orders getting moved up and he didn't have any info, but did say it's the latest they expect to get it to me.

I'd be surprised if my iPhone ships this week, but I wouldn't be surprised to get it the week after. That two week slippage that lasted most of the day Friday still seems odd to me. I can't imagine it'll take an extra two weeks to make more iPhones.

What I do wonder is if they are having chip yield issues, and have given themselves a gigantic buffer winder.
 
im so glad i ordered from verizon. they had the preorders up early so i actually preored my phone at 11:55 pacific time zone
 
I ordered 4am EST and shows delivers 5th of October. What incentive is a pre-order when you can get them faster standing in line on the 21st? Also only choice was standard 3-6 days, no overnight.

happened last year with a one day order gap.

ordered 10/8... shipped 10/27

I do not want to wait that long. I want to cry. LOL.

but when checking status online it says oct 5th..!


why did they already charge my card if it is going to be 3 weeks? i thought they dont charge the card till it is shipping..

Bought mine via apple online store,

12:59 AM PST : Oct 2nd 16gb White iPhone 5

13:14:33AM PST : Oct 3rd 16gb White iPhone 5

Really hoping that Apple at-least send me one on sept 21st

My card hasn't been charged yet and mine has been showing the 5th since I ordered. Does your order status still show "processing" or something different? Typically they charge your card right before its shipped.
 
I've had a $6 APL*APPLE ONLINE hit my account recently (it's after an Amazon purchase I made about an hour ago).

I'm assuming this is some holds they are doing, since the only iTunes purchase I made today was 22 dollars of comics.

my card was charged a dollar at the time..but now i have a full $316 charge from apple(also went through on the 14th) but my online status says oct 5th and still processing..

i called apple and gave them the order number and he told me oct 5th..i forgot to ask why my card had already been charged..

the initial email confirmation i got from them said 21st delivery..but by the next morning the online status said oct 5th..
card is charged already though..

All of these details lead me to think you may get bumped up early. I definitely don't want to give you false hope, but that's what it looks like. You should try to enter your info on the UPS track by reference page to see if it may have already been processed. now that really chaps my a$$!!!! i missed the cut off friday morning (actually have/had email confirmation that the 1st phone ordered was coming the 21st but it changed to the 5th... the second phone is slated for october 5.... that's 2 days after yours and you just ordered today!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:
 
yeah..its really annoying..i must agree

i just called apple and asked why my card is charged and i have an email saying it would come 21st..yet i check the status and it says oct 5th..

i will cancel the order tomorrow if nothing changes i guess

Originally showed a 2-week wait + 5-day ship when I ordered so no surprise with the delivery date.
 
an interesting case

So like others, i ordered at 12:01 am pacific time, through ATT - i got an e-mail yesterday around 5pm stating my order was cancelled due to my address not matching the statement..... called, raised hell - basically no help and was told to place a new order.

Placed one with Apple about 6pm yesterday - ship date October 10-16th.

Phoned apple, and they seemed compassionate - placed me on hold and informed me that they were upgrading my order to overnight shipping (after they verified my messed up att order) the lady told me she would be surprised if i didnt get the first week of october.....

told me to check online this week and see what new date ive been given - was also told my order was in their "backdoor orders" for troubled tickets..... fingers crossed i get the device soon.

I really want to kick att.... but now i am hoping work allows me to show up late on friday so i can camp out somewhere maybe?

impatient i know....... it would be great if people would post their "tardy preorder" times so we can see which ones are entering shipment based on the time of day the order was placed. All i keep reading about in the main applecom pre-order thread is the 12:01 orders....

I would get too upset about the late date. Once you are out of the launch day delivery window, you are at the mercy of logistic. There are only so may flights come out from China daily and Apple is launching in a lot of countries at the same time. So their ability to refill shipment to a particular city is very limited and they have to group a lot of orders together to fill up a cargo plane before they can make another shipment from China.

If Ipad 3 launch is any indication, you should be able to find an Iphone of your liking after the initial day morning rush. Tim Cook has a very different philosophy in how to deal with launch day demand. During the Ipad 3 launch, Apple store got daily shipment refilling all the model sold out the day before.. There is no line in most of the stores and the media thought that Ipad 3 demand was really bad. Turned out that Apple sold 3m unit of Ipad 3 in the first weekend. I think we are going to see a repeat this time with Iphone 5. This only apply to Apple store. BB and the like are out of luck if they sell out their inventory. They would have to wait for Apple to restock their shelve and it can be awhile.
 
damn that sucks. maybe if you guys hijack the fedex/ups trucks thurs night/fri morning, you can get your self one this week!!!! :D

yeah if you got 12 hours to wait on line. when i got the 4's i waited on a line for about 4-5 hours and that was just outside the mall and that was just the reserved line. by the time we got to the front door of the mall, the other line across from me was the first come first served and lady goes ive been here for over 12 hours and im not promised the phone. by the time i got into apple someone else was walking in also and he said he was there for over 18 hours and hes not promised a phone if they ran out, ahahahaa

In ordering process was NOT asked if I wanted AppleCare+. I'm trying to get that issue resolved now. The store people tell me I must bring the new phone to a Genius for review...this is crap! I wasn't given the chance to purchase AC+, why should I be forced to go in the store. That's why I pre-ordered, to avoid the store during this launch!
 
I can't quite figure out this statement from Apple: "Demand for iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply and while the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to customers on September 21, many are scheduled to be delivered in October."

I'm not sure if that means those of us that ordered early might still get it, or if all of us October babies are out of luck.

You could always go with Squaretrade which in my opinion is a better option anyways.
