Based upon the arrival and departure scans of your tracking number you can see when it left China, when it arrived in Anchorage (where it goes through customs) and when it leaves Anchorage. I can't remember if there is a "Customs scan" or not. Lets guess not for now. So with those times/scans you can figure out what flight(s) your baby is on. After a few dozen people get going on their orders there will be a wave of "hey my Apple Watch is on flight zyx leaving China now so should arrive in AK at xyz" yada yada. Then everyone shares links, flight tracking sites, how they got their tracking numbers before they were posted to the Apple site, all kinds of fun. If you want to see it all play out go read an old launch thread. Look for one thats over 500 pages (yep you read that right - 500 pages). The T-Mobile iPhone 6/6Plus thread is 883 pages: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1776383/
Likely won't see movement until Sat/Sun at the earliest. Keep in mind that even coming from China I've seen one of my orders leave China Wednesday and still make it to my door on Friday morning. And I've seen an order not do anything except prepare for shipment until the night before then it popped up in Ontario (local hub) the night before, took a quick 2 hour ride to Sandy Eggo, then to my door by 10AM.
The biggest reason that stuff starts to "move" around Sat/Sun is volume. They have only so much room on a plane. So if you have to ship 2 million packages, they need several (dozens?) of planes. Not to mention trucks and planes to distribute from the hubs to local, then to your door. So they'll start shipping plane loads perhaps as early as this weekend. Its really fun to hear people wring their hands knowing their package is only "an hour away" at their local hub, and they have to wait days until the launch date. No, Apple won't allow the carrier to release them early. Contractual obligation AKAIK.
This is one of the big reasons I stay up to pre-order - just love to watch these theads... so much fun. "Watching" the plane with your package in it "land" is pretty fun too, but is kind of taking it to the nerd extreme. But hey, I am one...

THIS.
It's always nice to revel in the collective excitement/anxiety of the community. I did it for the 6/6 Plus launch and had a blast.
