Based upon the arrival and departure scans of your tracking number you can see when it left China, when it arrived in Anchorage (where it goes through customs) and when it leaves Anchorage. I can't remember if there is a "Customs scan" or not. Lets guess not for now. So with those times/scans you can figure out what flight(s) your baby is on. After a few dozen people get going on their orders there will be a wave of "hey my Apple Watch is on flight zyx leaving China now so should arrive in AK at xyz" yada yada. Then everyone shares links, flight tracking sites, how they got their tracking numbers before they were posted to the Apple site, all kinds of fun. If you want to see it all play out go read an old launch thread. Look for one thats over 500 pages (yep you read that right - 500 pages). The T-Mobile iPhone 6/6Plus thread is 883 pages: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1776383/

Likely won't see movement until Sat/Sun at the earliest. Keep in mind that even coming from China I've seen one of my orders leave China Wednesday and still make it to my door on Friday morning. And I've seen an order not do anything except prepare for shipment until the night before then it popped up in Ontario (local hub) the night before, took a quick 2 hour ride to Sandy Eggo, then to my door by 10AM.

The biggest reason that stuff starts to "move" around Sat/Sun is volume. They have only so much room on a plane. So if you have to ship 2 million packages, they need several (dozens?) of planes. Not to mention trucks and planes to distribute from the hubs to local, then to your door. So they'll start shipping plane loads perhaps as early as this weekend. Its really fun to hear people wring their hands knowing their package is only "an hour away" at their local hub, and they have to wait days until the launch date. No, Apple won't allow the carrier to release them early. Contractual obligation AKAIK.

This is one of the big reasons I stay up to pre-order - just love to watch these theads... so much fun. "Watching" the plane with your package in it "land" is pretty fun too, but is kind of taking it to the nerd extreme. But hey, I am one...

THIS.

It's always nice to revel in the collective excitement/anxiety of the community. I did it for the 6/6 Plus launch and had a blast.

This is where the fun is at

This is the reason that I order Apple products on launch day. There is literally nothing better than checking this forum a dozen times per day. Looking forward to waiting with all of you.

I work for AT&T corporate, each card company works differently but they all have the same concept. The card can either authorize 1 dollar or the full amount. I don't have the exact time frames but they all have a "drop off period" which means that the authorization can either drop off instantly and never show up as a charge or it can take up to 30 days to drop off. The card does not get charged until the item ships. So in that case they will use the same authorization or pull another one. Either way the money will be deducted on shipment. The problem we had with the iPhone 6 launch is that authorizations cancel out after a full billing cycle which is one months time in that case orders were being cancelled out and we would have to contact the customer and approve another authorization because it's illegal for a company to authorize a payment without the customers concent. This may work differently with Apple as they might have an agreement with the card companies and extend the authorization for longer in the case with the June and beyond orders.

I hope this sheds some light on how payment methods work.
No need to worry about orders being cancelled unless it's fraud or billing shipping and card addresses do not match. Common mistake for people who move a lot.

With that being said 4/24-5/8 order here SS black sports band and separate order for green band and charger. I also picked up a MITAgg dock which right now is 129 I believe. Kind of expensive but the dock looks amazing!

For those talking about the cryptogram being one-time use - all of that only applies to Apple Pay for NFC payments.

Apple Pay inside an app uses the Apple-Pay-generated virtual card number as a card-not-present online transaction. It works the same as any other online transaction.

Yes but it is still using an CVV3 code which is how NFC MSD transactions work and card not present. You can't charge an Apple Pay token card with out an EMV cryptogram, an NFC MSD CVV3 (MasterCard Only), or a card not present MSD CVV3 code to go along with it.

Apple Stores will NOT have any stock. Online only.

This is what confuses me about the release date. To me this is implying that Apple Stores will have stock on 4/24 since the ship date for online orders are between 4/24 and 5/8. Maybe the delivery date will be set in stone in a week or so? The way Apple handles release dates are confusing and vague. (ie iPad Air 2)[/QUOTE]

I had an unfortunate situation on Monday where I was mugged and they took my wallet, including the card I used to pay for my watch. Wasn't until I called the bank when I realised that Apple will charge that card and will decline.

I called Customer Services from the hospital quite stressed and explained the situation and the advisor said that I would have to cancel the order and reorder and go to back of the queue. I could have cried at this point. I asked to speak to someone else for clarification and he said they are only going to tell you the same thing.
Eventually I was transferred to the Service Desk and they said to leave as is and when they come for payment it will decline and I can then phone with new card details and will still keep my place in the queue.

I called the next day and spoke to 2 other people and they confirmed what Service Desk said. PHEW!!
Now I am constantly checking emails and Apple Store App waiting for the decline.

Does anyone know when they will start charging cards?

It's really fun, but "literally nothing better"? Damn lol , my kids being born was up there ###

Seven days to 4/24. I don't know about the rest of you, but my refresh game on checking my order status has jumped from 2-3 times per day to once an hour. Looking at my MacRumors history, I found that my iPhone 6 went into "Preparing for Shipment" the Saturday before release, so if we are truly hoping for a launch date delivery, the status should change any time now.

Checking on the hour every hour now for order updates. Still on Processing. Will be happy when the bank is charged and its preparing for shipment. Ordered at 08:02 UK time. First minuet that you could. Hopefully delivery 24. Apple Watch with White Sports Band + link bracelet.

Has anyone been allocated a device yet in their support profile at

Sadly, I haven't, but I am in the first wave of shipments.

Problem is its 730pm now in China, I wonder if they work through the night , I doubt it though

One question on my order it says 24/4-8/5 but next to it it says Shipment 1. Does that mean that I get it on day 1 or does shipment one mean 24/4-8-5?

If you have multiple items it breaks things down into multiple shipments.
For instance when I ordered a new MacBook the extra cables I ordered were batched together in a separate box labelled shipment 2.
