This is nothing compared to the Pebble Steel. They gave everyone a date when it would ship, then the date would come and they would push back your date a few weeks. They did that 2 or 3 times. Everyone was super pissed. Fun times. As long as I get the thing on 4/24 - 5/8 people won't have to die. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY want it on 4/24.

I also went back and searched through some of my old iPhone orders. My iPhone 6 Plus had the exact date. My 5s had a range of a few days, but I think that launch was whack and no pre-orders. You could only order on the day it became available in stores. I tried going to the store on launch day in NYC. Fail. Ended up just ordering it online after waiting in line at a Vz store for two hours only to find out that they wouldn't sell me the phone off contract. I almost switched to Boost mobile on the spot out of spite. But then I calmed down and realized that the 5s was basically the same as the 5 and I could wait a couple of weeks for it to come in the mail.

You can't really compare the Pebble to the :apple:Watch in this respect though considering they are a far smaller company. They don't have the same resources as Apple does.

You will need to go in the store to do this if you didn't originally order with the watch.

Actually, you can buy it online or call the AppleCare directly.

I called Apple to add AppleCare to my watch but they cannot add it until you have possession of the watch. During that call, the AppleCare rep told me I could just buy it online after I've received the watch instead of calling back. I didn't ask how long after receiving the watch I'd be able to add AppleCare, but I imagine there is a window.

The window for AppleCare + is 60 days

Thanks for posting. I was wondering how that worked purchasing after the fact.

How many got a 3:01am confirmation email? I haven't seen many state that time, mostly it's 3:03 etc.

I was fortunate to get a 3:01am for the SG 42mm.

I'll take any thing but space grey. I'll stick to my 3:03 with Milanese SS 42

Delivery Date

What was explained to me when I called in asking about switching out models, etc was that they would not be available in store and that there was a good chance that it could still change ahead of the 24th.

What apple has done differently this time around is removed overnight shipping. The reason it is Apr 24 - May 8 is to allow for ground shipping / international shipping. To upgrade to Overnight shipping - its 16.00 she said - which I did.

I think apple is going to end up making a temporary adjustment to the return / exchange period now that people have gotten out and tried on the watches and decided what size works best for them.

What? I have never seen an option for upgraded shipping speed. This doesn't sound right, for every Apple Product Release Apple ships out the product to you on release day without charging for upgraded shipping.

So, they don't offer overnight shipping and you upgraded to overnight? That doesn't make much sense.

Sounds like you paid $16 to get it the same time as everyone else.

That doesn't make any sense. Had no option for anything other than standard shipping.

Fail. False. You are either lying or got the equivalent of rickrolled by whoever you talked to.

answering questions...

Where are you tracking from/through customs?

Can you give us the link

Based upon the arrival and departure scans of your tracking number you can see when it left China, when it arrived in Anchorage (where it goes through customs) and when it leaves Anchorage. I can't remember if there is a "Customs scan" or not. Lets guess not for now. So with those times/scans you can figure out what flight(s) your baby is on. After a few dozen people get going on their orders there will be a wave of "hey my Apple Watch is on flight zyx leaving China now so should arrive in AK at xyz" yada yada. Then everyone shares links, flight tracking sites, how they got their tracking numbers before they were posted to the Apple site, all kinds of fun. If you want to see it all play out go read an old launch thread. Look for one thats over 500 pages (yep you read that right - 500 pages). The T-Mobile iPhone 6/6Plus thread is 883 pages: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1776383/

anyone seen any movement yet? Im wearing out my thumbs checking the order status.

Likely won't see movement until Sat/Sun at the earliest. Keep in mind that even coming from China I've seen one of my orders leave China Wednesday and still make it to my door on Friday morning. And I've seen an order not do anything except prepare for shipment until the night before then it popped up in Ontario (local hub) the night before, took a quick 2 hour ride to Sandy Eggo, then to my door by 10AM.

The biggest reason that stuff starts to "move" around Sat/Sun is volume. They have only so much room on a plane. So if you have to ship 2 million packages, they need several (dozens?) of planes. Not to mention trucks and planes to distribute from the hubs to local, then to your door. So they'll start shipping plane loads perhaps as early as this weekend. Its really fun to hear people wring their hands knowing their package is only "an hour away" at their local hub, and they have to wait days until the launch date. No, Apple won't allow the carrier to release them early. Contractual obligation AKAIK.

This is one of the big reasons I stay up to pre-order - just love to watch these theads... so much fun. "Watching" the plane with your package in it "land" is pretty fun too, but is kind of taking it to the nerd extreme. But hey, I am one...

I was always told that launches (including this one) do not offer expedited shipping. If expedited shipping is available, Apple will pay to ship the fastest way possible to get launch products out, but all launches (at least is the U.S.) are calculated on standard ship dates.

shh...they took his $16 to overnight a package that will be sitting in a local hub for 2 days prior to delivery.

He probably paid $16 to upgrade his charger to overnight or something and didn't understand. It's not the watch itself.
