They work over the weekends in the U.S. Even deliver over the weekend if the shipper pays the price :)

I worked for UPS for 3 years. They deliver Saturday for a high price, other then that not a single package gets moved. It's in union contract. They will pickup sat although it just comes back and sits in the hub till Monday at 5-6pm

Easy...

Nobody is coming down on you.

It's just that those of us that have preordered new release product over the years have gone through this process enough times that we know the drill.

Obviously those who told you status would change yesterday or today were wrong.

Now trust those of us that are telling you from experience...

Status doesn't change until the week of delivery.

Could it be Monday? Maybe. Most definitely Tuesday or Wednesday.

You will see the forum filled with posts about -- as it always has been -- as it always will be.

My personal past experience was that my products went to "Preparing for Shipment" the Saturday before a Friday launch, so I'm still holding out to see something today.

I'm not taking any of it personally, I just find it funny that we're all speculating here. Today, Yesterday, by the end of this weekend, who knows? No one does...
We can't entirely go off past pre-orders because this one isn't handled the same. Heck online pre-orders and deliveries don't even have to compete with sharing stock with brick and mortar locations this go round.
No one knows how this is going to go down. But I do know it's going to be a fun ride, and I'm going to spend it here on these forums.
And since no one knows how this is going to go down, I'm not speculating with anything. Just sticking to the facts ;)

My past experience with other pre-orders, ships the Saturday before launch week. So in theory if following suit then should dispatch today ready for Friday.

Assuming they are shipping preorders from China, shouldn't we expect an update in the next day or so if we were going to get ours on the 24th?

In the case of the iPhone 6 pre-orders, we received notification 2 days before and the first tracking location was the sort facility in the US. Hard to know for sure, but no reason to get worried until the 23rd.

Pre-orders is a new tactic use by the companies to have The right amount or the closest amount for production.

They also use pre-orders to sell the product even without being out or available yet so they can have the money for the inventory before production for example video games from PS4 or Xbox

Dis is the reality of pre-orders

There are really 2 type of these situations with Apple, some stuff you get notification from China so the status changes earlier and some launches the product is moved from China to the US first and then the shipping notification get sent out.

Apple tends to use the second way when they want everyone to get the item on the same day, hard to say what method they will use with the Apple Watch since even the first preorders have a 2 week time frame for delivery but my money is updates on Tuesday and Wednesday at the earliest.

The truth is at this point we really don't know and everyone is just guessing

Except Apple doesn't charge until ships...

I just spoke to an Apple Store representative over the phone who informed me, with confidence, that earliest orders are still expected to deliver by 4/24 (if your timeframe is 4/24–5/8, of course). He went on to explain that such orders are expected to ship on 4/23, so that it will more than likely be the case that no one will see a "Preparing for Shipment" change in their order status until the 23rd. I know that Apple Store representatives have the reputation of not always providing accurate information, but in my personal opinion, this particular representative seemed to be well aware of this new pre-order process and what customers should expect.

P.S.: Subscribe to UPS My Choice if you haven't done so already. Orders may ship via FedEx, depending on your locality, as is the case for nearly all Apple orders, but it is still worth the effort. UPS My Choice (if you download the UPS app) will send you a push notification, quite literally, the second your package's tracking number is entered into the UPS system, almost always before the shipper updates your order information; it's quite convenient and I rely on it heavily for all packages I know will be shipped via UPS. A word of caution though: In registering, you'll have to provide your address, and only residential addresses can be verified and used; so for those of you who posted your order will be shipped to your college campus or place of employment, you will, unfortunately, not be able to use the My Choice feature.

Best of luck.

I just spoke to an apple rep and he clarified to me that all orders will be expedited now. So I'm am assuming I will receive mine on 4/24! My watch is at the warehouse in Pennsylvania waiting to be shipped! So with that being said, I expect my watch to be shipped on Wed!!!

That's awfully specific... Sounds too good to be true... And given that it's a run-of-the-mill Apple rep, it probably is.

The one thing I find consistently overlooked in this forum is that "Preparing for Shipment" doesn't equal shipped. So in my previous cases, I would get a "Preparing for Shipment" notice the Saturday before a Friday launch then an actual shipment notice the Wednesday before the Friday launch. So again, I am still holding out to see something today. But you're right: it's all a guess.

Reps are not a reliable source of information....

Well I live in NYC and my estimated delivery is from 4/24-5/8 and there is a warehouse in Pennsylvania so I know he told me the correct info!

It was shipped! It was shipped from China to the apple warehouses in the U.S. Or other countries. No we will receive the notifications once it's shipped from those locations!!!!

Its also been said that statuses will change today. Or statuses would've been changed two days ago. These forums have also said Apple is developing a self driving minivan...
Its all speculation. I was just stating facts.

Facts include the date range of 4/24 to 5/8, so you may not see anything until May :)

Your point is....? I am still correct in saying they work weekends, and the OP asked about UPS and FedEx if I'm not mistaken...

Was your watch already shipped from China? Meaning you've already received notification that the process has started?

And does anyone find that the new 'Apple watch' app actually make it harder to wait???? I see it every time I open my iPhone.

He's basing all his info on one of the reps. The same reps that stated the watch will come with with 2 complete straps, not 3 pieces, etc. lol.

You do realize the call center types will say anything to shut you up and get you off the phone right?

They really don't. I've literally driven on Saturdays. It's about 20 guys in a building where 500 people work. It's a very specific thing. The belts don't even turn on
