Ordered on 12/19. 3.4GHz/i7/8GB RAM (plan to upgrade myself), and 680MX. Today's the first day I've checked status. Of course it's still processing. My wild guess is 1/22 for delivery, though the very end of the month wouldn't surprise me at all

This thread keeps on being incredible.

So many people pissed off because Apple over-delivered on its promises with some users, while "only" delivering on its promises to others.
So people get pissed because they are getting what they were promised, while other people are getting what they were promised of a little earlier than expected.

I'm glad someone else has explained why this is happening, it's not like Apple having a list of bad and good users, it's just called logistics 101. I also fail to understand how can you possibly expect phone support to explain you that your imac was built in factory X but worker Y failed on assembly line Z and now your iMac is being built again. While you're on the phone why don't you ask for a ticket to China so that you can oversee the whole supply chain for yourself?
Don't you find very normal that they tell you "your order will arrive on or before when it was told you it would arrive the moment you ordered? (and by the way, what the hell are you complaining about???)".

My opinion is that people should complain if the promised delivery date is missed: but until then, i think complaining is borderline to crazy. Be happy for other users getting their earlier, they were luckier than you and that's ok, it's not bad corporate behavior on Apple's side.

I will be pissed if my delivery date slips by a week or more, but until then, what can i complain about? that i'm getting what i paid for while others have been luckier and got it earlier?

Cook is notoriously an idiot that does not know anything about logistics, i suggest some of the whiners here apply for a job at Apple and explain him how to run better something so simple like an under-pressure iMac production line.

Or, just cancel your freaking order and make them pay!

while i can't speak for anyone except myself, I am frustrated that there is no update on when my order could possibly ship or be delivered...just the very vague "january". honestly i'm seriously contemplating canceling my order. I'm not in the US and because Apple doesn't ship to APO I have to add an additional two weeks to whatever the expected delivery date is...so unless they pull a miracle off I won't get my computer until February. Unlike many other people posting here I bought it out of necessity as my laptop recently crashed. So I have to weight going a month and a half to two months without a computer or slumming it and buying a cheap pc to last me until apple can get their production together and deliver in a reasonable amount of time.

I feel your pain, although I am currently in the US, I've been computer-less for about a month now and it's seriously not helping out my freelance work being a graphic designer and recent college grad. I've debated canceling my order as well, but my only hope is that within the next few weeks orders will be shipped faster than expected (I might just being having pipe dreams though). I went through the same dilemma ordering my iPhone 5 on it's first pre-order day and I've been nothing but satisfied after it's arrival, so maybe everything will work out and we'll all be happy campers at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later. :)

what a tease ...

I just got my 32gb of ram from OWC. Now to wait the weeks for the computer to put the ram into! :)

thank the heavens someone understands what it's like being without a computer and suffering through this wait. i just imagine how beautiful it will look, the graphics, the large screen, the lightening fast fusion drive and i TRY to convince myself it will be worth it. Maybe if we do a fast production dance they will churn out several days worth of orders each day, lol.

I understand you'd love to have your iMac right now, that's fair, but why do you complain about the "January" date as if Apple let you down? Didn't it say "January" when you ordered? It's exactly like if you were feeling cheated because your iMac has a 27 inch screen and not a 30''! It's right there on the specs, you're fully fine not to like it, but no-one has cheated you.

On a side note, they're telling January and nothing more for a very obvious reasons: they know they might give it to you mid Jan, but they also know that they might give it to you late Jan, depending on factors they can't 100% predict or control.
So, what do you choose as a manager? Tell the customer 15th Jan, hope for the best and then have your customer outraged if you find yourself unable to deliver or tell the customer Jan and then either pleasantly surprise him or keep the promise? Is it so hard to get?

The hard part of this is that there is indeed a risk that they WON'T be keeping their promises. The supply chain is obviously tight, and if you are in a life-dependant situation i wouldn't bet my job on receiving my iMac by Jan 31st.

Speaking for myself, i have a delivery window ending Jan 11, i have no problem if they slip a week over or two (not that i like it but i won't suicide), but it's becoming more and more likely that they're gonna miss the promise.

Good news: Apple is still promising January shipping for new orders. Bad News: Barely a trickle of shipments in recent days per "the spreadsheet". I was hoping to see some post holiday shipments on there when I woke up this morning.

Me, too. Seems like there's been not much activity there or in this thread since last Friday.

Problem with financing

Hi!

I have a question for you guys.

I ordered my 27inch on the morning of Nov 30th. At that moment, Apple was expecting a dec27-jan4 delivery.

Unfortunately, my Apple Financial Services code expired during the time Apple processed my item (****** long). So, i had to call TD Bank to make sure everything was ok with my financing (and it was). I called Apple on dec. 31th to make sure that i didn't lose my place in delivery queue. They told me no but my order went from Preparing for shipment (on dec. 29) to Processing since dec. 31th. It is stucked at this status since 3 days.

What should i do? Call again ?

I was supposed to get it by jan.4 and now it says JANUARY. It seems like i've been put at the end just like i ordered it yesterday..

Ordered mine on december 7th from apple.com. Maxed out except for RAM (ordered Crucial Kit) Located in NJ. Still processing order...I"ve been like an addict checking this forum and my apple account for any updates....Not fun....

Anybody know if Barclay will accomodate the special financing even though my account hasn't been charged within the 30 days? I'm hoping they'll honor it still once I show them the order date on my final invoice.

I wrote an email to Apple last week and received a call today from a senior.

She told me that there is nothing they can do to speed up delivery at the moment until my iMac arrives to Europe. Anyway, she checked and my iMac is now produced and ready and I'll see a PFS soon...

Ordered on 12/06 maxed out expt. RAM

Happy new year to all :apple:

Yeah, I'm hoping that since it is now "January", the ETA might get a bit more specific with a range of dates. I'm also hoping for a bit more of a ramping up than we have seen so far.

Yes I too was hoping that with January arriving those that have orders placed would now get a range of dates as to when delivery might be.

Any bets when new order delivery changes to February?

Huh. In the weeks I've been checking order status, I haven't seen this before ...

yeah I'm wondering that too but the official terms say you must be charged within 30 days to get the special financing so thus far it's a no but maybe if you call them and explain the situation

Apple "a company without products to sell"

What do ya think? catchy? :D

I ordered Dec 8. Same as yours except 1tb HDD (have external TB disk enclosure and disks all ready).
I've had several conversations with two different Apple CSRs who both have assured me that the 30 day zero interest with Barclay will be honored even if it takes longer than 30 days to charge the card. For what it's worth.

I'm trying to be patient. Apple has not lied to me, misrepresented anything, and gave me a free wireless keyboard (I ordered the usb one with the numpad, then tried to change it to wireless: they gave me one rather than have me lose my place in the queue!).
I'm just feeling a little impatient, is all. Dammit. I'd just like to see a little movement, but I suppose EVERYONE is entitled to a holiday!

Ain't that the truth. I remember walking into my Apple Store a few weeks after the Keynote and there being no iMac's on display. They really did jump the gun on this announcment. They really should of held off till they had manufacturing figured out. Imagine if the iMac actually sold a lot. I mean if it was as popular as their laptops the delivery date would be up to April by now.

Called Apple store today and they have a small stock of the base 27 I want to buy. They said they cannot put anything on hold :( Wonder if any will be left in 4 hours when I get out of work.

Apple Care

Does anyone know if Apple Care kicks in from purchase date or ship date? I ordered my Mac with Apple Care on Dec 7 and it's still processing, I could protentially lose 1 month of coverage.
