frustrated - especially when people have ordered in 2013 and their order is flying thru

Spoke to apple to check. Interesting insight to the term "shipping" which is defined different to "delivery"(to the end user)
Shipping just means its leaving the factory.
So when you see "shipping Jan" like me, it could realistically leave jan 31st and turn up a week into feb

I'd would consider selling my place in the queue (line) but you're likely to beat me to the front I you order now

*sulks*
Now I feel a bit better I ordered my stock $1799 on Dec 14 and still processing

Paid for expedited shipping (not sure it makes a difference but....)

Preparing and shipped 1/11/2013

CALL THE RETAIL STORES...

Ordered 12/27. Still "Processing". Called all the stores around me. Found a nicely spec'd machine. Begged them to hold it. Went there and saw the box with my own eyes. Cancelled my order. Bought the machine. brought it home. Posting from my new 27" i7, 1TB Fusion, 680! About to pop in 16 Gigs of Crucial and get Rocking w/ 24 GBs RAM.

Los Gatos, CA

I was just so tired of waiting, and it seemed like another two weeks before it actually got on my desk. I originally bought a Fully Spec'd Mac Mini in October with a Thunderbolt display, but I "broke" the Fusion Drive (Another Long Story). I wasn't going to get another Fusion Drive, but couldn't resist the speed increase - methodical backups are key if you plan to get the Fusion Drive, consider yourself warned... So glad my 2 months of agony are over and I can start cranking out some actual work and make more money!

So apple decided to put the charge through and my cc company, for the second time, auto-locked my card without calling me to question the charge. Apple's website now says I need to reorder. I've been on hold with apple support for a half hour.

I'm beyond pissed off.

Ordered 12/11/2012 from USA WA, charge attempted 1/11/2013 and successful today! can't wait

What? That's weird. Try calling in. The same thing happened with me, Apple charged my account, cc company thought it was weird and closed my credit card. I called into Apple, paid with a new card and now it's preparing for shipment 30 minutes after the call.

On another note, do you guys know if packages go out for shipment during the weekend? Preparing for shipment on a Friday... I hope it doesn't wait until Monday to actually go out. Oh well, either way I'm happy it's changed status.

I called apple and the rep put the charge through, said it processed fine, but that I might slip a bit in the deliveries (he wasn't sure). He did say that he made a note in my file saying that Apple should honor my December 19th order date.

He also told me that people with November 30th orders are still (currently) calling him asking what's going on with their orders.

He also sounded disturbingly like Tim Cook.

Edit: and maybe it was Tim, because it's Preparing for Shipment!

Woke up to preparing to ship! Almost couldn't believe my eyes after 33 days of processing. Card charged and all :D

Created an account just to post this!

Ordered the 10th of December:

  • 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
  • 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA Drive
  • NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5
  • APPLE MAGIC MOUSE
  • APPLE BATTERY CHARGER-AUS
  • Apple Num Kybd+User's Guide-X
  • COUNTRY KIT-X

And it's been stuck at 'processing items' ever since. No money charged to credit card since ordering 32 days ago. No shipping dates or delivery dates, just 'Ships: January'.

Anybody else in the same boat? I've been pretty patient up until this point but I'm beginning to lose too much work so it's getting a little rough.

I've already given Apple a call thinking that the order may be stuck at some point and she didn't really tell me much, only that my order was in the system and will be shipped some time before the end of January!

Call EVERYDAY... I called the Los Gatos Store yesterday at 4pm and they nothing. Called again this morning at 10a and presto, they had "a couple", by the time I got there at 1pm, I was able to buy the "last one". Just keep calling, you might have to drive! But, this whole waiting game SUCKS so it takes less effort to keep calling the stores than to keep checking this thread and the apple store 25 times a day right???

Yeah and I keep checking all my local stores in case they get some in but since it's San Francisco every store has been completely out of stock for over a month.

*sigh*

Oh well... soon.

Same I'm in Toronto Canada I order everything maxed out but the ram I just want my machine soon belt my desk for it going order my ram from crucial today I check like everyday for it to say shipping lol

mamma mia you guys are impatient lol

expect 3 weeks to ship it and a few days to get to you

if it still says January shipping it'll be here before the end of the month I bet

I pray that anyone that got it order on the 26 will be notified tonight or Monday that its shipping :)

So do these shenanigans continue over the weekend, or does the plant not run/ship or does Apple not update? Might be nice to take a breather from this neurosis. Ordered Dec 21, no updates, no card charged or held yet.

Aqueous: How'd you break the Fusion Drive? Would love to know what to avoid.

I had the same luck as many others in this thread and elsewhere in the forum. The local Apple Store got ONE of the high end 27" configurations in stock and I leapt at the chance. It's a really slick machine.

My advice to those that are fortunate enough to be near Apple Stores is to just call every morning to see what they have... It's as much a mystery to the reps as it is to anyone else exactly what will show up when.

Rocking the same 30" right now. Have you ever used anything to color calibrate it? Mine is getting rather out of spec.

Does anyone know if orders that are preparing for shipment have a chance of being shipped out during weekends? Or is it likely I'll have to wait until Monday before any status updates?

Have (2) 5 bay Burly Enclosures that I ran off eSata for years. Updated the Port Multiplier Cards with USB3 and something went terribly wrong - all the drives would dismount and remount randomly. I guess it happened a few too many times in the day or so I was testing and trouble shooting and the machine just refused to boot up again. Grey screen, circle with slash. I tried everything, even target disc from my MBP via Firewire800 and nothing. Took it Genius Bar and it was dead. I didn't have the Mountain Lion Install Disc since it came on the machine, they restored the OS and the MacMini would only recognize the 128Gb SSD, the 1TB was GONE...

Funny thing, am having the same damn problem right now with the Burly's. Going to call Rick at MacGurus tomorrow morning, maybe I need some firmware/driver or I just f'd up the installation crossing some wires? I don't know, if I had $1750 left I would drop it on the Thunderbolt 8 Bay Areca Enclosure and be done with it.

And, it might just be my imagination, but I swear the MacMini rendered faster in LR4... Only played around for an hour or so, but feel let down after spending an extra $800 to get the spec'd out iMac.

Just talking honestly here.

almost here

Ordered 12/12.
Base 27" other than 1TB Fusion.
Left Shanghai yesterday
Through Anchorage this afternoon
Arrived Oakland around 10pm tonight
Scheduled for delivery Tuesday (Phoenix), but I'm guessing that I'll see it Monday if it's in Oakland already on Friday night.

I'm curious - SO many of you have ordered fully-loaded rigs, including i7's, lots of RAM, 3TB fusion, etc. I can't imagine that very many of you are that hardware-needy in terms of what you're using the machine for - are you? I'm guessing it's just a matter of wanting the best setup you can afford, which apparently is loaded. The part I don't understand at all is ordering anything other than base RAM, with the hideous prices Apple charges for more memory, and the ease of upgrading yourself.
