Shipped!!

Ordered on the 29th, went to processing on the 17th, and then shipped sometime in the wee hours of the morning!! So excited, also, for anyone who's been at processing for a while (I was there for almost two days), when it switched to shipped, the tracking info shows that it is already on its way.

So excited!!

Ok has anyone seen this. My order still shows Processing Items but it is not showing a pic of an iMac it's now showing a shipping box? The cancel button is still there. Just hope it's a good sign.

The same happened to my order status. The next time I checked I saw the iMac again. 27 days of waiting so far...

My best bud ordered on the Dec. 7th and his should be here Monday. His first Mac.
My credit card also has a hold on it as of this AM. I'm hoping that's a good sign. Ordered the EXACT same config you did on the EXACT same day --"the black hole day" ;)
We shall see....

Ordered december 24th (transaction made), shipped today!
so almost exactly 4 weeks between ordering and shipping.

Fellow "black hole" resident here. Mine is almost that same order, but I sprung for the 680 video. (For no justifiable reason...) No authorization yet. Still "Processing" - exactly like it was on Dec. 22. I made a call to Apple the other day. No offer to upgrade shipping, no superdrive offer. They were still confident that it'd be "January" and she assured me they were shipping in the order received, which this thread has shown to not be true. Basically it was a wasted 28 minutes.

Got Charged

It still says processing but my card got charged! Very excited here, ordered Dec 22, discover:

3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
3TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5
APPLE MAGIC MOUSE
Apple WL Kybd (English)+UG
COUNTRY KIT

Mine says shipped arriving the 23rd according to FedEx. Only my credit card has been charged though. I charged the other half with debit and that hasn't been taken out, wonder why?

Hmmm...well, I refuse to get my hopes up too high until I see it change from Processing to preparing to ship.
I also called Apple twice in the last week but got the same response you did and NO offers for freebies (I really wanted the upgraded shipping or wired numeric keyboard  I just got the same reassurances you did. I was very polite and so were they.
I definitely don't think they are filling them in the order they receive the orders (obviously we all know that based on this forum!)
My theory is that the order they fill them is based on multiple factors: BTO vs stock configs carried in stores; what type of upgrades are involved; Geographic location order is going to; date of order and which factory/facility that order got routed to for production.
The only thing that puzzles me is why some 3 TB fusion drive iMacs with the 2 GB graphics card ordered after ours (Dec 26-30th) shipped before ours--different factory/manufacturing line:confused:
where's your iMac going, BTW?

I wasn't angling for freebies. It had been a while since I'd even looked here. But it seemed she knew nothing that wasnt on my screen. " If it says ships in Jan, it'll ship in Jan"

After seeing the out of order shipments, I looked for patterns here in the shipped config. Maybe the 3TB or the video or the hotter cpu is scarce...nope, no pattern that I could find. Ordering them by destination makes no sense as that us left to FedEx or UPS or whatever. She said they were surprised at the demand. Wait two years between refreshes and add in the holiday, and that demand seems easy to predict. If they'd just put usb3/ivy bridge on the 2011and not screwed around saving half of an inch if space above our desks, they could have had my money sooner.

Mine will (eventually) make it to the area of Nashville, TN.

Another 12/22 order. My went to shipped sometime in the wee hours but according to Fed Ex thay actually picked it up the evening of the 18th. As near as I can figure, it might be on Flight 90 headed for Memphis at this point. Apple says delivery, 1/25, Fed Ex says 1/24 but I am hoping for Tuesday or even a slight chance of Monday. One can hope although my karma has not been good on this order.

totally agree with you, roberlipe. I could not find any patterns either which drove/continues to drive me nuts! Interesting that she knew something more but would only say "if it says ships in January, it'll ship in January"
Curiouser and curiouser...

I have an interesting idea regarding a factor that may affect how orders are processed.
You'll find Apple is providing random builds to their retail store while fulfilling our online orders.. (And the stores themselves have no idea when they will come through the doors) I'm guessing factories are pushing out machine in no particular order, but are in relations to the destination because if you check your order, it has a COUNTRY-KIT( guessing power cables and documentation). It would make more sense analyse each country's demand, rather than strictly fulfilling via chronological order.

That is certainly a reasonable possibility. Doesn't explain how folks in California that ordered the exact same config 5 days after me already have their iMacs, though, since they should all theoretically have the same Country-Kit...unless we also factor in that there may be more than one factory making the BTO machines. If the BTO machine orders are randomly assigned to one of two (or three) factories and some happen to be more efficient (or less behind) than others then that might account for some of the discrepancies???

Hmm, maybe for the first leg of the trip, mine is heading to Canada though...
Yours should be delivered to your place by the 24/25, and mine is (hopefully) arriving on the 25... Did your order make any progress today? My order has been updated since this morning...

When I called 1-800MyApple on 1/15. They gave me upgrade in shipping. It was suppose to arrive on 1/21 but it came today:D

Also when I used the link for tracking from the email it STILl says the my computer is in Shanghai. But when I checked the link that was given via text. It had the correct information. You may want to make sure about the tracking

Thanks! I should've called apple too

Barring an enormous blizzard and winter storm combination I'll have mine on Monday. It became a Canadian citizen on Friday and made its way to Winnipeg, via Calgary overnight and will be on the truck on Monday! The pneumonia is improving and while I won't be able to lift the box myself I have arranged help once its warmed up :D.

As for the process itself. It wasn't pretty and I can't believe how unorganized it appears. After spending the amount of money we have I had hoped for better. Better acknowledgment of our orders and the reasoning why we've been fibbed to would be a good place to start. I know on Monday when my helper rips open that box it will all melt away, but I hope if Apple really cares they'll do something better next time.
