Looking at Google's recent style, going flat is a new thing to go? I can't wait to see a new look!

I have seen the Windows Phone UI, and I assume iOS 7 will look the same.

Why would you assume it will look the same? They're two different companies with different views on how a mobile OS should look and function. The only reason they mentioned wp8 is because of its flat design which is something iOS 7 will have. That's it. It will not look nor function like wp8.

I think the app icon UI will still be there. I don't think Apple is taking the Windows Phone route especially with such poor response from the market. Apple just need to add more features that is transparent to the user (i.e. features or information that don't require the user to dig deep into apps or settings).

To be honest, it seems like Apple doesn't want to do much. Alot of people use the "you don't need to fix something if it ain't broke" approach to analyzing Apple's new products, but honestly their products are getting old.

They don't. Don't wait for a new way of home screen in your iPhone boy, the mayority aren't graphic artists or nerds. People want something that works. We are a very small group and being small means our wishes are never going to be fulfilled. My sister love her iPhone 5 my wife says her iPhone 4 is better, they don't know what is a processor and they don't know what is an icon either.

Apple feed thouse heads not ours. You want something nerdy? Go get an Ubuntu box or better yet build your own linux box and install Fedora I hope you like it.

iOS 7 will be taking advantage of retina with great icons ( same ones but designed) and some colors on menubars. That's all. Why? They dont want to scare people, they want them were they are now.... Buying content.

I'll just leave this here...

Flat. Not flat. Whatever.

Just give iOS a user-accessible, shared-file system already! How hard can it be to give it an app that does the job of Finder in OS/X??

And an option to use an external pointing device like a mouse of touch pad. Not so critical for iPhone, but would make iPad more useful.

After six fruitless years, you should probably let those ones go.

(Answer: not hard at all, but they ain't gonna do 'em)

Well I hope it's a nice update.Maybe it will satisfy the A.D.D."I'm soooooo BORED with iOS.I need some sparkles or something."whiners.Or maybe they will hate it.I don't care much, any more than I care what color my hammer is,as long as it works well.Yes I'm boring, can't help it.

The new Yahoo weather app is probably what Apple will do with it's weather app. Also people won't be able to say Apple copied android since it incorporated Yahoo weather into the system.

That's a clue right there.

;)
Somebody gets it. +1 for you, dude. I have a feeling we will see more of this Yahoo Weather app look system wide.

I don't get the compulsion to constantly janitor WiFi and Bluetooth. If I was going to live forever I might find the time to fiddle with those settings, but as it stands now, no way. In about two seconds there'll be a better battery and location monitoring that'll make it moot anyway.

How about brightness? There's a reason why practically every other smart on the market has quick settings for the ones you mentioned and brightness. I'd like a better battery on the iPhone, but Apple tends to make the phone thinner instead of giving it a stronger battery.

Well this is the new skin on the OS that everyone has been asking for. I suspect it will look very nice. There is stuff you can do with a Retina screen from a design perspective that you can't do with a lesser screen. Flat does look better in retina. Look at the new Yahoo Apps. Look at the weather app Dark Sky. Look at Twitterific. These modern clean designs look great on the iPhone.

So I think this will be a nice change.

I *thought* I was bored with iOS so I bought an HTC One. Played with it for a week. Used Google services for everything. Each to their own but there is something to be said for the simplicity and elegance of the iPhone and iOS. Sure, Android offers much more customizing but I flat out *guarantee* you that the vast majority of smartphone users don't give a fat rat's arse about customizing every single little detail of their phone. They want a phone that works out of the box and to that extent the iPhone is still unsurpassed. Read in an earlier post that some dude's father called him a bunch of times when he first bought his iPhone cause he couldn't figure stuff out. I had to laugh. Thank God he didn't buy an Android device or he never would have gotten off the phone he couldn't figure out how to use.

So is there room for improvement with iOS? Duh. For instance, I would love to see an OS where the user can choose whether or not the icon for a downloaded app populates to a screen. Maybe it's my minimalistic nature but I'd prefer to keep all apps in a sandbox and only put those icons on the screen that I choose to put there. I'd also like to see some form of "snackable content" like BlinkFeed in the HTC One. IMO, BlinkFeed is freaking awesome and the single feature I will truly miss. Not enough to keep me using the One but awesome nonetheless.

How about a new type of app. Maybe call them iApps. When you depress the open app for say 3 seconds you are given the option to have them populate to a screen and you can define whether they take up 1/3 or 1/2 of the screen or the full screen. The app will refresh at a preset amount of time or upon swiping down. What think you? I'd tap that but then again I'm a news junkie.

All I want is to choose default apps for email, browser, maps etc....

Dude, yes! One of the major reasons I choose to jailbreak. That, and SBSettings. I really hope they do something similiar AT LEAST to SBSettings, I literally use it more than any other tweak, usually to qiick turn on/off flight mode and wifi (I am not allowed my phone to be in my space at work).

Oh, I sure as hell hope it won't function like WP8. Wouldn't mind if it looks like it, though.

I know that Apple and Microsoft are different in the way you describe, but this didn't stop them from having similar-looking GUIs in their operating systems for computers.

In the HTC one's defense. It does work out of the box, and you do not have to customize every detail if you don't want to. At the very least having that option is awesome.

I've fooled around with a fair amount of Android phones and IMO the One is the best one out there. Yes. It does work out-of-the-box but the devil is in the details. Would take more than a few lines to explain what I mean. That said, HTC has done an incredible job with the One.

Exactly! Everyone is different and anecdotal stories are not necessarily illustrative of a pervasive problem. Now, don't get me going on how often my mom gets confused about passwords! How many times has she reset her password for iCloud??:D

Ah yes. Passwords is another good one. My mom started writing them down. I tried explaining to her how silly that was. Needless to say, I won't teach her how to do mobile banking. ;)

nothing wrong with iy now.

last thing we need is for it to look like win 8 mobile or android. I hate both of those. Besides.... MAC PRO MAC PRO MAC PRO (the protest begins)
