You think its apple stopping tesla from providing carplay?
I think they both hate each other. Let’s be real, it’s 2022 and we cannot even name a single product or feature Tesla and Apple have worked together on. Let's be real here

Odd how even long holdout Toyota eventually settled on CarPlay, yet Tesla is still shrugging their shoulders. Then again, didn't they also not have FM/AM radio for the longest?
Musk is being a child because of the rumors that Apple chose not to buy Tesla when it supposedly was offered to them years ago. Besides, Apple, if they do produce a vehicle themselves will be directly competing with Tesla.

Elon Musk HATES Apple in general.

That’s the main reason why they will NEVER bring any integration with Apple ecosystem.

(Heck, from what heard from my close cirlcle, there was one proposal that Musk suggested where it would block ANY Apple devices from connecting via Bluetooth and pop up would appear suggesting user switch to android phone. Tesla board had other plans since that would DEFINITELY bring DOJ’s attention)

Besides, Musk is SUPER afraid of Apple Car, a “device” (yes, Apple car is considered a device, despite being a car) that will most likely destroy Tesla in long run.

While I miss CarPlay and the Tesla infotainment center isn't the greatest, I wouldn't hold out from buying a Tesla just because of the lack of CarPlay. I bought a Model Y long range last year and it's one of the most fun cars I've driven. I usually buy a new car every 3-4 years and I've owned many in my day, and this is one of my favorite. This is my first EV, and I don't see myself going back to an ICE car for my daily. I'll still keep an old project car around just to wrench on but I'm a convert. That being said, I do wish my Tesla had CarPlay.

Some electric cars that seek to directly compete with Tesla, such as the BMW i4, BMW iX, and Porsche Taycan, offer heavily integrated versions of Apple CarPlay, as well as other Apple services such as Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, including support for features such as time-synced lyrics.
If this is correct, I'm surprised. Obviously a passenger can use the system too, but a basic safety principal of infotainment systems seems to be that they don't allow anything that could distract the driver more than momentarily whilst the vehicle is in motion (no video, no web browser, no scrolling text etc). Any information should be available at a quick glance. Of course there's a degree of subjectivity there, but I'd suggest that any driver activity involving time-synced lyrics wouldn't include paying sufficient attention to the road.

Meanwhile, I wish Apple would hurry up and develop an Apple Music app for Android Automotive on my Polestar 2.

It's funny how non-corporate people are on this forums. "Tesla" as a corporation doesn't hate anyone. Same with Apple.

What really happens in real life is that CarPlay (or AA) just isn't a priority. Everyone has limited resources, and you set your priorities by what your customers are asking for. Personal dislike can affect priority, but that sort of "I hate Apple" doesn't really matter unless it comes directly from the upper echelons.

Are Tesla owners clamoring for CarPlay? Probably not. Tesla's selling a ton of cars, and the lack of CarPlay isn't hurting them at all. Ergo low priority.

Oh it’s worse than that. The teslarati hate Apple and Android. They think Tesla software is the best and hate that people want options.

I’m not joking either. Look in forums where people dare to ask for CarPlay.

Let's be honest. Some of the "hate" expressed on this forum for non-Apple products and companies can be just as bad or worse.

If you're talking USD, you can get a brand new Tesla for as little as $46,190 MSRP; and possibly even less if your state has EV tax credits/rebates.
Specially if your in a loan on a $25K ICEV + Gas. Savings adds up fast over the term (if you can home charge). I honestly don't miss CarPlay. Stuck a Autosonus iPhone/charger & holder in my Y, and that took care of the times I wanted my phone in front of me.

Never had battery issues in the past but my past two phones have had the batteries destroyed within a year and I’m blaming CarPlay even with smart charging features. On my 12 mini my battery health was at 86% 7 months in and apple told me this was completely normal. They still win because I upgraded to a 13 pro. I won’t be using CarPlay, even if my anecdote seems inaccurate.

so now you can "hack" Teslas to implement CarPlay ... what's next? "hack" it to make autopilot do things? this is scary, what automakers will learn from this is to lock down their systems to prevent this stuff from happening, rightfully though when it comes to autonomous driving features ...

My Polestar 2 EV uses Android Auto as its platform. I have all Apple products including iPhones and really have not felt left out not having Apple CarPlay instead of Google Play in the car, although there is a bit of a learning curve for me. They are adding Apple CarPlay later for whatever reason. At least it is not a Tesla :)

? Tesla can't even get FSD working (Musk told us we'd see full self driving Teslas in 2020) and you want them to work on implementing CarPlay? ?
