Having the same exact issue with my iPhone 7 Plus. Pre-ordered at 3:09am. Got the dreaded Reservation. Went to complete my order today, telling me that I can't purchase the iPhone because of a "deposit."

Have been bounced back and forth all day long between Apple CSR and Sprint CSR. Each point the blame to the other.

Sigh. Lol.

I had to give up on Sprint support they don't have a clue. I am hoping the Apple tech will call back tomorrow. I will also call Sprint again tomorrow around 1PM central and post back here. Actually, now, the problem is even worse -- it shows that I have no items in my bag when I try to get to the checkout page. Part of me hopes that's because Sprint took their system down to fix their bug. But not holding my breath. I will post back tomorrow with any news.
same shithappining to me...

Potentially (?) a big update. Just got off the phone with a "Senior Apple Sales Rep" named Jess who actually read me an internal memo that stated that Apple is currently performing maintenance on the Apple Store to resolve an issue where customers are being stopped from ordering due to incorrect deposits. Estimated time to fix was 2-3 hours.

you JUST got this memo???

I just got off the phone with the Apple representative who just read it out loud to me, yes. I'm not sure when SHE first got it, of course.

I got this message but hit the back button and filled out everything again and resubmitted it and it worked fine.

sorry i know this doesn't help much but all i can say is that we switched from pay outright to apple upgrade when we redid it.

I have also been in touch with an Apple Sales Support Representative and she is not aware of any specific fix coming in a few hours. It looks like that comment was posted roughly 2 hours ago. I just tried and I'm still getting the carrier may require a deposit so we can't complete your order error message. I also just reread the reservation email and it says the reservation is only being held until 12 PM PDT which means at least we have until 3 pm East Coast time. Going to try again in the morning.

Literally had the worst experience ever with apple and sprint. Woke up at 3 am to order my phone and get an error message, same as the first post but I have a reservation number blah blah blah 24 hours to complete the purchase. Try to complete the order and it says I'm not available for an upgrade even though I know I am because I went to sprint not on a contract and my 4 other lines got new phones over the summer. So I decide to try again later and go back to sleep. Later tonight after dinner I call the number given at the error message. After waiting on hold for THREE hours I finally get an apple rep. She was very nice but had no idea what to do. Her solution was to call sprint so we called sprint together. Rep from sprint was extremely rude and had no idea what Apple or I was talking about, it was like she was on another planet. We are now at this point 4 1/2 hours into the phone call and Sprint is blaming Apple and Apple is blaming Sprint. Sprint has confirmed that my line is eligible for upgrade but Apple can't do anything. I get managers from both companies on the line and neither of them could help either. Apple manager promises he will call me back tomorrow after a total phone call of 5 hours, but he can not guarantee that I will keep my reservation as he doesn't get in tomorrow until 2 pm and my reservation expires at 3. By far the worst experience I have ever had with Apple and it's still not over.

Agree and I feel for you. I lost the whole day chasing Apple on this and they have been unhelpful, not even interested in taking my reservation number down. They promised to call back and never did. Combine all that with the fact they are limiting upgrading buyers to stock available in store on day 1 and this is not a shining moment for Apple.

I tried waiting for as long as I could, in hopes that the systems would resolve itself, but nearly 24 hours later, the system is still screwed up. Sprint doesn't know anything, Apple doesn't know anything, so in a last ditch effort, I e-mailed Tim (with Phil on copy) about what's going on, and I included a screen capture. Not that I expect him to do anything, but if it can at least be read at a higher level (by his team or whoever) than the people reading it now, hopefully something can get done. I encourage others going through this to do the same, especially with all our reservations expiring soon.

[doublepost=1473489169][/doublepost]They fixed it! I was able to order my iPhone with a 16th Delivery!
what model did you order that you got a September 16th date? I was quoted September 26th when I made my reservation but when I was finally able to get through the Reservation email fiasco a minute ago it said it would be delivered Oct 3. My order was reserved at 3:06 am for a Sprint Jet Black 256 7+

I've still got the empty shopping bag glitch. Sigh.

Try going to your reserve email message and clicking on that link and follow the prompt to log in and see if that works
