Add more lines of resolution, get less battery. Not the phone I'm looking for. Nobody in the real world cares about 828 vs 1080.

Did you own the Plus series? The Plus series had fantastic battery life with a 1080p display. If its not the phone you are looking for, then don't buy it. Many people care about a 1080P display in 2018/2019.

Yes, I’m getting around 2.5 hours more than my iPhone 7 Plus. And that’s with a new battery from Apple. I’m a heavy user and the iPhone XR is thd first smartphone I’ve had that’ll easy last the whole day without charging.

That's awesome. I had the same experience with my 7+. All day battery life.

Count me in the same boat: the incredible battery life alone "justifies” my savings of $350 over a 256Gb iPhone XS. Or... should I be paying a premium ? /s

Maybe following your own advice and move on, it’s just a phone

I can get nearly 2 full days of heavy use out of my 8+ so it seems battery life has been improved in recent iPhones.

I usually start my day at about 7am. If I didn’t top up my battery it would often be dead by around 6pm. “Heavy use” must be different for different people. The XR is the first smartphone that lasts me from when I get up to when I hit the sack.

As long as the individual is happy with the battery life of their phone and it lasts the day, it doesn’t matter 1 iota if another phone is slightly better or worse.

I’ve still got 58% on my 8+ at bed time after using it all day including for navigation for an hour so I’m more than happy the battery is good enough. The XR is more than likely slightly better in that department but it’s insignificant for some if they are getting more than they need out of another phone.

I would say that approximately 2.5 hours more battery life is not “slightly better”.

Of course it will not matter to some. But for others it’s very significant. A dead iPhone is no more than an expensive paperweight. I don’t work in an office and can’t work with a paperweight. In the past I’d carry around a backup battery but I really shouldn’t need to do that. It’s a load of hassle.

I didn’t actually suggest what it was slightly better than though, so have no idea what it’s 2.5 hours better than? lol. In all seriousness though it doesn’t matter to me as I’m not affected by a dying phone.

OK, maybe I should have said - appropriately 2.5 hours more than an iPhone 8 Plus.

Believe me when I say this, I’m not trying to pick on your post, but this is not true what you’re saying above. Consumers do not care about 1080 P displays in phones, maybe for TVs when it comes to a higher resolution they might appreciate that, but not for phone displays, when _Most_ can’t even tell the difference between 720 P versus 1080 P. And I say this being that I can tell the difference being a ‘tech enthusiast’, but the average consumer walking into Best Buy looking at two phones with a 1080 P and 720 P can barely tell the difference.

At that small screen size most won't be able to tell the difference between 720, 1080 and 1440. Maybe those with a trained eye.

I too came from the iPhone 7 plus, the XR battery life is such a paradigm shift. All day battery life matters.

If you cant see the difference u got to visis eye doctor... 720p vs 1080p is clearly visible on ip8/ip8plus so it eould be vidible difference on screen of Xr size

It’s only obvious if you are looking for it though. If you are looking at text closely to see blurred edges etc. I’ve got an 8+ and when I compared it to the XR I didn’t see a huge obvious difference. It may be different for others.

Thanks, but I have 20/20 vision. Perhaps heed your own advice?

Yeah, if your face is less than half arm's length to your phone's screen and you were watching high contrasting video, such as Planet Earth that is locally stored on the phone, you may easily make the differences out. Downgraded adaptive streaming video? Fat chance.

Boy, are they getting desperate, it seems. This came in a mail few moments ago.

Maybe making iOS 12 this good was a bad idea after all?

It doesn't matter maybe for some people. It's all about getting the best value/benefit and of course if you are buying a phone that cost $750. The price point is bad.
Another news today about one Apple XR supplier losing almost 15% in revenue last month.

Considering the 40% discount if you trade in a 7 Plus....yes.

Its pretty much unprecedented in Apple history

I’ve seen multiple reports online about Apple telling suppliers to cut back on production. Is it too early to call the iPhone XR flop for Apple?

It flopped for me. Sticking with my SE until Apple comes out with a smaller phone than in current lineup. Meanwhile, Apple’s stock has dropped substantially since XR came out. So yes, it is a flop, as are the other gigantic phones.

If they want to sell me a new phone, produce one I want. Big apple user, love the ecosystem, but make a decent smaller phone, that’s all I ask.

Aren't the iPhone 8 or Xs not small enough? They are still available....
