That's huge news! The smaller pros haven't sold like that in a long time. Seems like increasing the size of the Pro Max might have moved some people away.
I think the article was saying both the Pro and Pro Max are doing well compared to the standard iPhones, not that Pro is doing better than Pro Max.

iPhone 16 Pro models dominate lackluster iPhone 16 sales

Yes @subjonas I think you’re right, one have to be careful reading stuff. The titel definitely referred to pro models. Very interesting anyway with such a strong regular model lineup this year.

True it's odd that the Pros would be doing unusually better sales than non-Pros in a year when people seem to be saying the non-Pros are unusually closer in features to the Pros (as I recall). Counterintuitive.

It did to me. I was a PM user since 11PM. After a week the the 16PM I returned it and now rocking the 16 pro. It’s def smaller but getting used to. It so much easier to use and carry. I do miss the big screen but the 16Pm was just too big for me. I also think the 15 PM was the PERFECT size. If I wasn’t on the upgrade program I wouldn’t have even upgraded.

Yep, same for me. When I heard rumors of bigger, I bowed out.

I actually tried it! after using it for a week and then going back to the 15PM it was noticeably heavier and taller.

I believe the biggest factor is weight. Last year, Apple emphasized weight reduction by using titanium, and people appreciated the lighter phones. However, this may have resulted in poorer battery life. This year, they had to incorporate a larger battery, resulting in added weight. Now we have a bigger, heavier phone, which may feel excessive for some of us.

Been using the 16 Pro, it’s been fine battery wise, but suddenly my battery is dropping fast. Not sure what’s going on. Nothing has changed on my side, no new apps etc. So not sure what’s up.

Yes that sounds strange for sure. Been getting good stable battery life from mine short after I installed latest official update, but worrying hearing this. Have seen reports from different directions about bad battery life/drainage and it’s really hard to say much but to me it really points to SW issues.

Did you end up keeping the 16 Pro?

What does SW stand for?

Thanks for the question, for you that wonders the final decision is made. I’m keeping the 16P!

At least on my part the 2w I’ve had it have been a nice and pleasant experience, confirming my expectations regarding one-hand handling, comfort and battery life. Can’t let go of the 16P and refuse to pick up the 14PM again, hand hurts just thinking about it 😂

Thanks all for your good advice, input and discussions! Even if I made my choice I will still enjoy to follow further posts and discussions, and perhaps it can be really helpful for a few more.

A certain 14PM is out for sale this minute 😉

It has been a week now and turning off bluetooth has been a revelation. Battery is just as good as my 13PM was when I traded it in.

Battery life should be better than your 13PM even with bluetooth on though.
It was not. My 13PM would get 2-3 days between charges. With bluetooth on, the 16P would scrape two days but with any kind of heavier use would be 1.5 days max. With bluetooth off, it is 2-3 days like the 13PM.

This solution isn’t practical for most users. Many of us rely on Apple Watches or Bluetooth in our cars, and turning these off isn’t feasible. We shouldn’t have to sacrifice connectivity just to achieve decent battery life.

The solution for the car is the same as the solution for my AirPods. Invest the few seconds to turn it on when you start and off when you are done. I agree that we should be able to leave bluetooth on and still get good battery life, but you have to be practical and make the best of the situation.

Downsized from a 14PM and happy with the decision.

Battery life even seems comparable, which is a surprise.

But all of us with an Apple Watch couldn’t use it. That’s a bridge too far.

How bad is the battery on the 16 Pro?
I have a 16 Pro Max on order but thinking of switching to the Pro due to the size. I have always had Max phones but I am thinking this Pro Max will be too big...

Coming from 14PM, same as you, and for sure this was one of the big questions. Since a week back, after 2 iOS updates and initial set up processes etc, it has stabilised fairly good. Right now I have 14:38h screen active on roughly 50% of battery, would rate my self of being a medium/heavy user. Have Avg Screen active/idle of 8:43/2:33 stated for the moment, with a good amount battery margin in the evenings. Compared to the 14PM I don’t perceive that much of a downgrade tbh, had 87% battery health after 2y mind you. 16P is a very comfortable size…

Yes that's what I am thinking
But I feel I will get the Pro and then miss the bigger screen and battery
Decisions decision
I do have an M4 iPad as well...

Completely understand. Only way is to really try it, which exposed the shift in practise and made everything (decision-wise) very clear on my part.
