Hard decision because coming from an 15 Pro Max to 16 Pro, the battery drop off will be very noticeable....
Coming from a 15 pro max to a 16 pro, and now having using it about a week, the battery stabilized a few days ago and my 16 pro is actually giving me better battery life than my 15 pro max with 87% battery health. This works for me.

For me 16 pro max is not an option due to the even bigger size this year. So just evaluating the 16 pro with my 15 pro max to see if the smaller size and the pretty decent battery works for me. And the small size so far, albeit still a bit on the heavy side and feeling a bit more dense than the pro max, has been overall more pocketable and wonderful.

Have also experienced a very good stability of the battery life latest week, so that’s hopeful!

Interesting point with the pro feeling more dense in its weight compared to the max. Have thought about it, and of course I wish the 16P was even lighter, but have perceived the weight to be assuring in a way and as expected. Still feels ” light” to me.

I know I’m gonna sound like a weirdo but I feel like Pro’s weight gives it more… luxury feel. And I like it a lot; lighter phones doesn’t appeal to me.

Exactly, reason why I've put some lead pieces under my case, for me perfect luxury starts between 400 and 500 grams, only then I have a feeling like I'm holding a gold bar in my hand and such a brick is much better for self defence, like you think you got hit by a phone, but it was a half a kilo of pure hate.

PS. I have a full trunk of cement in my VW car too, feels like a Rolls Royce!

We perceive differently, perfectly ok of course. I think I know what you mean, there is something with weight that completes the whole impression. For me it also has some connection of assurance, even if it’s completely not fact based 😂

Ok, joke aside, I think the point was more directed towards small ”subtle” differences and subjective expectations of luxury/”top quality”. Not to be confused with actual quality.

A lot of effort.

I finally gave up with the regular Pro and have an appointment to swap it for the Max this afternoon. I’ve realized that I mostly use the regular Pro two-handed for typing anyway, and I have an easier time reading text on the larger display.

I’ve held onto a 13 mini as a backup phone, so I guess it makes having the larger Max as my primary phone a bit more feasible.

I like the 16 pro, especially because it fits into my Lululemon shorts and trouser inside pocket and I know the max doesn’t because I tried my partner’s in there so that’s my selling point. Also fun fact is that the screen size on the 16 pro is actually larger than the one on the 6 plus which is kind of mind blowing …

brilliant answer, made my day! I didnt realize i needed a brick of a phone until I read this profound statement of reason and rationality. 🤣

I also switched from the 15 pro max to the 16 pro and the 16 pro, while at around 15-20% by the end of most days, its been a great size and similar functionally and nearly close to the battery of the 15 pro max.

I realized that while I also have a 13 mini for those moments where I need something light, like at the gym, I hated switching my esim back and forth and had to switch back to my pro max for any reasonable amount of time given the limited battery of my 13 mini. The 16 pro to me is a nice balance of pro max and convenience of the mini, that I dont feel like I need a second small phone around to switch to when I dont want a brick to weighing down my gym shorts and for just overall convenience.

I have an ipad pro 13 also when I need to sit down to watch large durations of media which works better.

So those who switched to the 16 Pro have no regrets? I still cannot make my mind on which phone to go for...
I would try the 16 pro for 14 days and see day to day if your battery needs hold. The screen at 6.3in is fairly large now, and the convenience of pro max functionality in a more manageable size day to day is something I'm appreciating since I switched from a 15 pro max a few weeks ago. I do feel the battery life, while was unsatisfying for me when I tried the 15 pro last year, is reasonable enough this year on the 16 pro to make the switch. Hope that helps!

You can always get a larger phone for better battery life every year, that's no question, but at what expense of inconvenience and finger gymnastics is the question.

Wouldn’t say ”gave up” though, you did the right thing and tried it out and came to a conclusion what does work better for you. Hope the max will be great for you!

Really getting into the 16 Pro now, passed just about 3w! Where I’m coming from it’s just perfectly balanced in size imho, as it optimises in-hand day to day manageability, comfortability with the almost edge to edge screen, with the system efficiently producing battery life not far from even 14PM. This at least my experience, and I might have been lucky to not see much of the touch screen issues, battery drainage or iOS instabilities/bugs. (For info: mine is a August build). For the current proven iPhone tech I would argue it’s just the optimum size to balance most parameters keeping the pro features, with that I mean that it could probably not be smaller. The tiny increase up to 6.3” with decreased bezels is the enabler striking better balance. Talking about which, noticing the smaller bezels for sure, can’t believe it took them so long to get there.

It’s not perfect, thinking of the very bumpy ride with users reporting concerning issues from launch (which to certain extent also have effected older generations), iOS needs to get on top with stability, efficiency and smoothness (read non-buggyness here too). Which is the case every year and something we kind of gotten use to every new release. If I could have wished for any more, it would have been to have it even lighter. Can’t have it all 😂

You're not missing the bigger screen and battery?

No, personally I can’t go back to the bigger size of pro max again, this is how I feel at least for the moment. It’s just too cumbersome to deal with on a constant basis. I got the 16P to compare it with the 14PM, and very quickly I just refused to pick up the 14PM and haven’t used or missed it since.

Personally because I’ve always had the pro maxes.i tried to like the 16 pro . I ended up returning the 16 pro and have the iPhone 16 pro max 512 gb in black titanium being delivered to me this Tuesday. Ordered it on Friday, 10/18/24.

I’ve always had the larger size phone since the 6 Plus, except for the iPhone X, but there was only one size. This year, I was positive I was going to go with the Pro because I have been disliking the larger phones. However, on launch day, they had a 16 Pro Max for pickup so I went with it (and my 16 Pro) for pickup. Tried both for two weeks and I was basically set on the Pro until two nights before the return period was up, we were out with a bunch of friends and seeing all the big screens around literally made me instantly think I’d regret downsizing. So I returned the Pro and kept the Pro Max. I have come to regret that decision so much. A month into this phone and I still think it’s too too heavy. I don’t have small hands, but I just don’t like the weight of the Pro Max in my hand at all. I should’ve stuck with my gut instinct. So I’m back to stalking the nearest Apple stores waiting for a 1TB white Pro and then I’ll just sell my Pro Max probably at a slight loss, but I know I’ll be happier.

Still happy with my decision to keep the 16 Pro instead of the 16 Pro Max. I’m coming from a 15 Pro Max.

However, I’m starting to miss the battery of the 16 Pro Max. Today my 16 Pro has been kinda draining too fast. Every time I check it’s gone down much faster than I expected.

Hope 18.1 improves the battery drain.

What made you return it btw?
Doesn't the size of the Pro Max annoy you..

I opted to get an iPhone 14 Pro install of the pro Max model because I found it to be the perfect size for me and I still do. Having said that, I opted to get the iPhone 16 Pro Max because I wanted the larger screen this time around making reading on it easier on my aging eyes. Sure I could have enlarged the font on the smaller pro model, but I didn’t want to do that. The Pro Max model is exactly what I need at this point in my life and I’m glad I made the purchase.

Don't you find the weight tough to deal with or do you have large hands?
