Good for you but millions of others have the same problem. There is a reason At&t has the lowest customer satisfaction of all the cellphone companies.

Oh I have no doubt about that. I've heard a lot of people having problems with ATT. I'm just going off of my experience and the experiences of those that I know. I hope ATT steps up and does the hotspot feature for free with the iPad monthly plan like Verizon. It'd be nice to share a LTE connection if need be. Good move by them.

maps and coverag

Has anyone seen a truly good map that would allow a buyer to figure out which companies have the best coverage in LTE for the cities they travel to?

Originally ordered an AT&T...but I just ordered a Verizon version as well.

If by march 16 AT&T hasn't announced the hotspot is included in their price (like Verizon), then I'll return the AT&T version at the store. If they have, I'll return the Verizon version.

This way, I get the better of the two versions on launch day without having to wait for AT&T to disappoint (again).

how can I vote, I ordered both? One goes back to Apple.
ATT : has better resell value (works in Canadian LTE), HSDPA+, 3/30 plan
VZ: tethering, LTE coverage is wider, 1/20 plan (I prefer this plan)

I better no vote here to keep parity.

AT&T.
1) I (well, my parents) have been with them for seven years now.
2) Verizon doesn't have *great* coverage in my area.
3) There is absolutely no Verizon coverage in Morgantown, and I'll be moving there this fall.

I went with Verizon, since they supposedly have great coverage in my area. Although, my iPhone plan is with AT&T. Also, I figured I would give Verizon a go around. I think it is a toss up and only then location can be a deciding factor. :)

THIS is why I bought Verizon 64GB LTE white yesterday afternoon. I cancelled my purchase last night and ordered AT&T version after realizing AT&T offers 3GB data for $30 while VZW offers only 2GB for same price. 2GB is not going to be much for LTE downloads. Of course neither is 3GB. Carriers are ripping the consumer off. VZW definitely has more widespread, reliable coverage in Carolinas and Georgia while AT&T is generally good in major metro areas. So I hope I made right decision.

I have the Verizon 4G LTE Motorola Xoom. I've never gone over 2GB (I don't stream music or movies) and that's using it a few times a month as a wifi hotspot. That feature alone is why I am staying with Verizon for my tablet data plan on the "new" iPad.

Besides in the SE (even into the TN mtns) I get Verizon coverage where I get no AT&T at all.

Cheers,

Verizon. My 4S with unlimited is AT&T. I only plan on activating LTE when I know I will be using it in that month (vacation, business travel, etc). Every other time, I'll just tether with my AT&T phone. And Verizon has much more LTE coverage at this time.

Verizon. Their LTE coverage is great in my area and I get a good signal in my office. I had ATT before and could not get a signal in my office.

Not exactly an article on "why" to buy a AT&T iPad, but rather "why would anyone buy an AT&T iPad?"

I bought an AT&T iPad. Just happy with the coverage I am getting.

For as much as people seem to hate AT&T, it seems like that version is the one selling the fastest. I'm on Verizon, so I was able to pick up an iPhone 4S (two in fact -- one for my wife) right after launch with no waiting.

So I ordered a Verizon iPad too... my wife got a WiFi since she'd never use that feature anyway. I mainly got it for the built-in GPS, which doesn't come in the Wi-Fi model.

I purchased the AT&T model because we currently have 4G in my area, with LTE coming within the next 6 months. Verizon doesn't even provide 3G coverage in my area and who knows how long it will take to get 3G or LTE.

Verizon because AT&T exists only outside of buildings in my area. Plus, Verizon has free tethering and corporate discounts.

This may have been mentioned already...

Just remember, if you buy a Verizon iPad and they don't have 4G available, you will be thrown to their slower "Edge" type network.

On the other hand, with AT&T, you will be thrown to a fast 3G network that is quite speedy (speedier than Verizon's 3G network).

yeah so confusing. ATT has that advantage. But the VZ ipad provides more bands(1 more) than ATT. all comes down to personal situation.

I not only went Verizon, I even cancelled my WiFi iPad order and changed it to LTE after Verizon said they weren't going to extort extra $ for hotspot functionality.

My phone's on AT&T and their towers went down during our last power failure -- they had no backup. So going Verizon also gives me a potential network backup, as our area tends to lose power for a couple of days every couple of winters from windstorms.

I don't really like either company, so might as well split my money between them. :)

[Also, if there's no LTE, Verizon kicks you back to EVDO. It's not as fast as AT&T's (cough!) HSPA "4G" that was 3G until iOS 5.1, but it's not Edge-slow either. EVDO is 600K-1,400K Bps down, Edge is 50-100K Bps.]

I have 2 coming one Verizon one ATT... My daughter will take the one I dont keep.. I also see that ATT gives you 3GB for 30 and Verizon is 2GB for 30.. seems like alot more for the same price! Plus their 3G service is faster.. Think Im gonna keep the ATT ..

VZ may justify this due to the included hotspot functionality which ATT doesn't offer.

I had a Verizon PC card for years, subscribing to their 3G service.

A year ago, I began tethering off my AT&T iPhone. Their 3G service blew away the Verizon service. It was night in day.

In fact, the AT&T 3G is much faster than the Verizon DSL service here at work.

AT&T is about to announce a data sharing plan. I am hoping they will also announce a hot spot plan as well.

Thank god that there is at least two of them for competition on this. Imagine if there was only one. oh wait that did happen and att didn't offer hotspot for almost 18 months until VZ did.

I went with Verizon because 4G Lte is widely available in my area (San Francisco Bay Area) as well as the other places I regularly travel too.
On the other hand, At&t sucks here. I also appreciate Verizon's hotspot feature that isn't included (yet) with At&t.
