I just ordered my 16GB black 3G iphone yesterday and when i check the website i'm # 27 in the queue now i see a few people that ordered on 7/14/08 and it appears theirs havent shipped out yet and some others did after that date, does the site update daily? i wonder why some peoples order shipped already when they ordered on 7/17/08 or could those be the white iphone version?

The white iPhones are shipping much faster than the blacks due to the high demand of blacks. You can expect to wait awhile. I ordered my 16-Black on 7/14 and it has yet to ship. But good news is that my store is catching up and has shipped all but two 7/13 phones. It's been 8 days now (within the 7-10 day range I was quoted, and which seems to be pretty accurate) and the hold on my bank account was removed late yesterday or this morning sometime. Once it gets put back, its suppose to have been shipped or ready for shipment.
The hold your account expires after so long but ATT will put it back on independent of your order. When it changes from a hold to a charge I think your golden.
As of today, my store has three 7/12 orders left. Yesterday I was #84 and now I'm #69 so it looks like those of us who didn't order 16GB black are moving steadily

Sure. I've got 2 orders in front of me. 1 I believe is a 8gig from 7/14 and the other I think is a 16g-blk from 7/13. Mine is a 16-blk on 7/14.

Well, I finally received my 8 GB iphone that I ordered the day after launch.
To those who are waiting and, like me, did not own the 1st gen iphone ... OMFG this is the best phone EVER! Everything about it is so polished and smooth. All the things people complain about, e.g. no MMS, no copy/paste, no dedicated keyboard, are really very minimal compared to how much better the overall experience is. I've owned the TREO 650 and Tilt and they are pure crap compared to this phone. I LOVE IT

No mine didn't ship an order 2 in front of me did. Now just 1 order that I think is an 8gig.
The one that did ship I believe was an 16-blk like mine and the backorder didn't flip on that order or mine. I've not seen any orders flip today.

If there are lines that say "No Order #### found Or ATT server is slow...." then it will skip those and not count them, which is why sometimes your position is higher or lower.
Mine finally shipped today and will arrive tomorrow! 16gb Black for those not following the thread. It went from being backordered to shipped, so hang in there! My store had lots of orders and they seemed to be fulfilled in a completely random order until yesterday when orders ahead of me appeared filled and I was listed as number 1 in line - last night.
I almost feel bad for this.... But I never joined this thread because I haven't really had all too long to wait

White iphones are definitely shipping faster. I ordered from 5th avenue NY store yesterday. I am thinking 10 days. And started looking at cases. I love the tools and have been following the thread closely. (There wasn't much movement between yesterday and this morning. (Something like 87 people in front of me.)
But HOLY SH*****. My order says shipped? I had to pinch myself. Anyway it is showing that it will be arriving tomorrow. I hope I am not getting a return.
I have to get moving on getting cases.

I ordered my black 16 GB the afternoon of Thur. 7/17. I only learned how to check where I am in the queue yesterday and I was 72. Then I was 63 this morning. Now I am 55.
I was told 7-10 days. Hopefully I have mine by the end of next week. As much as I would love to have one in my hands sooner, I just don't have the time or motivation to camp out at an Apple Store.
