I’m debating doing the exact same thing. The most exciting new thing about the iPhones this year are the colors of the regular model. I’ve set my 14 pro max at 60 fps to see if I can deal with it lol
I actually caved. Today I’m trading 16 Plus for the Pro. I could not get over the 60hz 😭

Weird. Mines not doing today. It would fall over every time last night when doing it. Mine working again 🤣

Edit. Just realized I had HDR ON. It works fine with HDR enabled but not without.
I can’t seem to replicate this. I’ve tried 4K30 with and without HDR, zooming and focusing with each camera, and not even a stutter. I’m on 16 Pro.

However, I did find a bug that completely crashes the Photos app 100% of the time. Take a Live Photo, then edit it to pick a different live frame, selecting Make Key Photo. After that, switch to Adjust and press the Auto adjust button (magic wand). BOOM, crashed. Every time. iOS 18.0 on 16 Pro.

For me, just the 60hz drove me crazy.

The 16 plus is a damn gorgeous phone. If anything I’m grieving it a bit 🤣
Yeah 60 Hz is rough when using my iPad, after using my Pro phones for so long. But I don’t use the iPad enough to justify buying a Pro. The phone, however… I could never go back, haha. 120 all the way now.

I did. I setup my 16PM exactly how my 15PM was and when I added a case, I could not notice the screen difference. The camera control really isn't a "oh wow" feature and isn't worth $1300. The 16PM feels heavier as well.
I would question why you even bothered upgrading from a 15PM. Beyond the camera control button there isn't much difference.

I didn't return my 16 Pro Max. Improvement over the 14pro I've had for 2 years. Like the 15 pro, is is very light for its size with the Ti frame. Screen looks better than the 15 with the bezels. Zero difference in weight between the 15 pro Max and the 16 Pro Max. Apple store person had the 15 pro max to hold at the same time. No one can convince me they can feel 12-20 grams of weight increase.

If the 17 removes the dynamic island, I will buy that one next year. My prediction is, it will not.
Personally I like the Dynamic Island on the iPhone. I have seen the Google 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and I would like for Apple to skip the hole punch display cutout for the front facing camera if the technology allows them to hide everything behind the display without sacrificing on quality or functionality.
If the current technology is not good enough then they should keep the Dynamic Island until the technology is advanced enough so they can introduce an all screen display without any cutout for the front facing camera.
I don’t have that problem or any other touch response issues with my 16 pro max.
I think these problems are mostly software problems.
What happens when the touch responsiveness issue is simply an iOS 18 problem that gets fixed in an update?
Exactly my thought.

Why would you replace a year old phone to begin with?

I imagine because there's a newer, better one. At least, that's my motivation. For something I use as frequently as I do, having the most capable device is of value to me. I imagine it is for quite a few other folks.

Yes, after 6 days of using it as a main phone (TT & NS enabled), I could not live anymore with the uniformity issues (from left to right) and yellow-tinted display (Samsung G9P). Now I am glad to be back on my ol' good 14PM (featuring a G9N cool temp & perfectly calibrated display).
P.S. Action button & Camera control - both were kinda useless to me due to their bad positioning.

Just two days ago you posted
‘100 percent happy - insane battery life and nice camera upgrade. Glad that I skipped 15PM last year.’

Indeed, but only today I have managed to thouroughly compare the screens side-by-side and see how much of a difference there is.
Also edited the quoted post in the other thread, thanks for bringing that up.

When you have to compare directly with another device to see tiny difference than its not an issue - at least for me.

The whole uniformity and yellow-ish, not so bright display is the "audiophile" syndrome in my book. Its something that only the "so called" experts will tell you its so bad because they saw a 0.1 mm difference compared to previous devices.

Oh and all those "tinted" and "not so bright" display is a topic that come back every single year so, I don't take those very seriously since I've never had an issue with my phone display so I must be an extremely lucky guy if I read all those posts here.

When comparing my 16 Pro side-by-side with my 15 Pro, the 16 is noticeably warmer in tint and dimmer at the same brightness level (50%). I noticed it without the comparison, so I charged up the 15 just to check and it confirmed my suspicions. So I wouldn’t discount anyone pointing these things out.

Yup. Went thru three different 16 Pros and they all had worse displays than my 15 Pro Max. Unfortunately I had already traded in my 15 PM so kept the last 16 Pro as I’m tired of trying.

Blue shift on tilt, uneven yellow tint display. Significantly worse than 15 Pro. Apple dropped the ball on the displays. There’s some that are great, as some demo units on the Apple Store look pristine. But it’s a lottery and I keep getting shafted lol

I can confirm now that I am much MUCH happier being on the pro. I loved the 16 plus a ton and if Apple does bring 120hz in the future to the fun colored phone I’ll probably switch again, but my eyes now have rest

Congrats to the pro! One of Apples trickiest predicaments right there. Many would get the regulars if they had 120hz imho, but then on the other side they would probably gain bigger market overall.

that is an odd shift, but yeah the 15PM looks warmer to my eyes there in that example.
The off axis shouldn't be abhorrent as soon as you stray from straight on like looks like in that second photo

my 16 pro does not do that

I’ve got pretty good eyes so luckily can go between devices with 120hz and 60hz without really noticing the difference in refresh rate. So glad I’m not in some of your positions on this as it must be quite irritating.

Just returned the 16PM. The swipe and touch issues coupled with the size and weight make it a no go for me. Gonna wait to see if they fix the touch issues and order a 16 pro.
