I just inserted my SIM from my iPhone 4 into my 4S and it worked, no issues. Really weird. Didn't even go through the rigamorale of trying to activate it. But :) I suppose.

I Tunes knows the serial number associated with the phone. If you swap out sim cards, will this mess things up in iTunes and ITunes syncing?

Finally activated, After a process of resetting my phone and doing activation via phone and itunes.

Really? Both AT&T and Apple are adamant that this method will NOT activate the phone. Did you buy from Apple or AT&T?

I did this before I even turned on my 4s and it is not working at all for me... Have fun! Tell Siri I will be talking to her soon! lol

got mine to work.........I plugged it into the computer as a power source and it worked first shot (No Itunes). Coincidence ? Not sure.

tried the 611 route, it sent me through to customer service and went with the technical support option.

was only on hold for 1 min before the girl answered and told me that she cannot activate it over the phone and that sending the activation message would screw up the whole process...so annoying.

The first thing I did when I got my 4S this morning was call AT&T to preform an upgrade swap, as the fine members of this forum suggested. However, whenever my phone attempts to activate, it presents me with the wrong number (that being the original number that should have been swapped). After I borrowed somebody's phone in the library to call AT&T, they told me that everything looked fine on their end and that the information had been swapped successfully. This makes me think that the 4S hasn't even been updated with the new information from AT&T. Going on 4 hours now btw...

I got my 4S early thing morning and called AT&T to activate mine and had absolutely no problems. Ported my number over. Very seamless.

I had a slightly different issue where I was able to activate over wifi (or so it said) and get to the home screen. Only, it said "NO SERVICE" in the corner and my old phone still worked.

So after waiting for nearly 4 hrs, I called AT&T's activations number: 1-800-331-0500

After 20 minutes on hold, a CSR helped me out. I had to give her two numbers (ICCID and IMEI) and she set it up. 3 minutes later, my 4S was showing 3G.

She said they had not received an activation request from my new phone/sim... tbh it probably is an Apple problem.

6 hours and no luck

Has anybody in the Ohio region had any luck? Have been on the phone with ATT 3 times now. ATT says it's activated, but no go here. I've been trying with iTunes, without, and everywhere in between (both at once).... with no luck. ATT tried to pass the buck on to Apple, but I read some of the posts and articles online to my operator. Yet again another ATT fail.... am almost ready to give in. Anybody that can help please do if yo have any tips

Has anyone had luck calling Apple? I've been on hold with AT&T for 20 minutes... Have tried activating 15-20 times both tethered, untethered, and over cellular data.

This sucks...

i had the same problem and once i tried to activate my device it said my sim didnt match my account or some BS. i went to tha apple store and the guy told me that prematurley swapping numbers on my sim card messed up the whole process and made it so i hit an error in the activation process. they had to give me a new sim with the unswapped number on it and it can only be changed once the device is activated. ...if only these servers werent so retarded, i could activate my phone and get on with my happy life.

How do you activate via iTunes? AT&T is telling me to do this, but I just set up the phone without it.

I have had my phone on with "No Service" now for 4 hours. Do I have to set up as a new phone in order to activate via iTunes? I have tried resetting my phone 20 something times now and never received any bit of information that my phone was pending activation or that the initial activation process even went through.

I was just told by an AT&T Supervisor that due to "unforeseen difficulties" there is a 24 hour delay on phones getting added. I am very unhappy, especially since I just retired from AT&T. This should have been anticipated, should have already been mock drilled. So I am without a phone for 24? Hours and apparently so are all of you.

This is getting ridiculous. I've been trying to activate since 9:00AM PT and still can't get through after trying every method mentioned in this thread. For those of you lucky ones to have success, congrats.

So does that mean that I'll need a new sim card regardless?
