Interesting. I've done In Store Pickup on iUP and they send me a box separately to return it, I don't have to do it right in the store.

You didn’t have to for store pick-up recently? The only time I did was in 2022, and the guy helping me informed me that they only send the box for delivery orders. For the store pick-up, I had to transfer the phone right there so they could return my old one.

When I completed my in-store pick-up order today, I received the same text message I got in 2022, recommending an iCloud backup 😞 didn't get this for my most recent upgrade.

I was on in at 8:05a EDT, ordered the Air, immediately got a 09/25 date. 10 minutes ago I cancelled that ordered, reordered it with a 09/19 delivery date.

Now, I am willing to bet most (all) of those 09/25 dates get revised to 09/19 as well.

I had the same problem with the Pro (Orange). At 503 AM PT the store let me in and it immediately said shipping to arrive 9/25. But I could pick up in-store on 9/19. So I'll end up picking up in store on the 19th. Works out better that way anyways to be honest - UPS/Fedex always ends up delivering the new phone at like 3 or 4 or 5 PM on launch day anyways. I'll have it earlier in the day this way. I'm just not looking forward to having to swap my phone in the store and have it take an hour or two. (do they have USB-C cables that can connect the two phones to make the transfer faster?)
Wow, you must have a ton of stuff on your phone. I upgrade every year, & it usually only takes 10-15 minutes to transfer via iCloud.

I ordered at 7 AM central from ATT, a 17 PM 512 GB orange, & it indicated a delivery on 9-19. I imagine the 256 GB models will become scarce more quickly. I ordered an Otterbox case yesterday at 9 AM, & they had shipped that by 11 AM. Otterbox is my version of Apple Care….

For store pick-up, being forced to return the phone at the same time in-store will be a big problem as I have both mine and my partner's iPhone for the upgrade. I hope I can keep the old phones and return them later.

I ordered my 17 Pro within seconds of preorders becoming available in the UK with delivery on the 22nd September, but that is to the Scottish Highlands where deliveries almost always need an extra working day to arrive. In store pickup isn’t really an option - my nearest Apple store (Aberdeen) is a 300 mile round trip.

The rural location must make for some fantastic views…

Huh, I placed my order for a 17 Pro at 5.03 and was shown a 9/25 delivery. After seeing another post I went to the Apple.com site at 10.04 PDT and ordered the same thing, after canceling the other order, and it allegedly will be here 9/19. Whatever, it’s coming soon. Yay. I should have slept in.
I just confirmed this for the very same phone I bought this morning. Crazy. If I didn't have the iPUP and a trade-in, I'd cancel and order again. That said, I hope/suspect Apple will fix this.

I ordered a 17 Pro Max a few hours ago with an in store pickup date of Sep 20. Seems like they are selling out super fast here.. There was only one Apple store in my area that still had pre-order pickup for Sep 20. Every other Apple store says they are unavailable

Today is always my tired day waking up to order my phone (I’m an early riser so 10 is late for me) but looks like it was worth it this year. Orange must be popular though, blue pro max still avail for next Friday

Sept-25 deliveries are being updated to Sept-19 as we speak. Just updated for me over the last hour, was 8:03 am IUP order for a 512GB blue PM. 👍🏼

I've traded in my previous phone the past two years at the Apple Store but not at the same time I picked up my new phone. Unless something has changed since last year, you have 2 weeks to do so.

Mine said Sept 25 too, but when I log in to check/change the order, it says Sept 19, which is launch day.

I was a little annoyed at the checkin process because it seemed like the Apple Store app was frozen, since it didn't flip over immediately at 0500 PST. So I quit it and got back on, and wondered if I had lost my place in the queue or something.

Perhaps they were being conservative/cautious with the delivery dates because they didn't yet know how many units were ordered. I had planned on staying home on Sept 19th to fend off any porch pirates, and was annoyed when it looked like I was bumped back by 6 days. Now it seems like everything is as it should be.
