Set an alarm for 4:55am to get the app fired up for the pre-order. The app didn't let me order until 5:10 and the delivery date for my orange 256 pro max was already 9/25. Went through with the order anyways, but by 8am this morning I had a change of heart and decided I'm not really that interested in this years models so I canceled my order.

Was chatting with my brother and a friend of mine about the pre-orders a few moments ago and they both mentioned that they also bailed on ordering today due to a general lack of interest. They (and myself) have had launch day iPhones since the beginning. We even waited in line together for the all-day cluster-F that was the 3GS launch.

Purely anecdotal, sure, but it really makes me wonder how many people are just going to skip this generation. I honestly never thought I'd sit one out, but here we are...

I skipped as well.. I really want the 2TB, but not a Pro Max anymore. Besides, not really feeling the design, and the lack of a black color option was also a deterrent. The 15PM will do :)

The Air and Max have completely different audiences. For those like myself who find the Max overkill (I had the Pro Max for a year and downgraded to the Plus), the Air gives us a nice screen size, all the camera we'll ever need, and a cool, new, light form factor. This wasn't built for people who love or need the power of the Max. Hypothesizing which one *seems* to be selling better is a fool's errand and rather pointless.

No that is NOT the reason. It seems a LOT of us on the Upgrade Program had this same issue. May order for the 512GB PM Blue model was placed 1 minute after the hour and did the same. I could find (and can still at the local store) for hours the same phone available on 9/19. I sure hope Apple fixes this but... no way to know if they will.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I’ve been using the iUP for years, and this is the first time it hasn’t displayed express delivery on the release date. Since I have to travel on the 24th, I’ve opted for store pickup, which I detest because I have to return my old iPhone right there instead of sending it a few days later, allowing me to check if everything transferred correctly.

Yeah I can see that. I get the Pro Max every time specifically because of better battery life. As slick as the Air looks, and as much as I would rather carry around a lighter thinner phone, running out of battery is always the biggest concern.

This is the first year I was not able to get iPhone on delivery day because Apple couldn’t authorized my ApplePay. Did all the right preorder selection including ApplePay info. Had preordered iPhone 17 Pro Max, Orange, 512. As I kept trying with ApplePay…delivery dates kept sliding to October. Switched to silver finally approved but delivery at end of Sept. Today was an extremely bad experience
If you wanted the orange, why did you switch to the silver?

I get it. I wouldn’t likely update my phone if it weren’t for the iPhone Upgrade Program.

Opened the app store app 5 seconds after go live and got a 9/25 date.
This is 8:01 am ET in Toronto? Which model and capacity? Just curious. Meanwhile in Canada:

I think they just want more people going to the store to sell you accessories 🤣 everyone in the US seems to be getting the 25th for delivery and the 19th for pick-up.
Most, but not everyone. Some in both Canada and the US got a Sept. 19 delivery date.

Ordered pro 512 blue apple upgrade (Verizon) at start of pre orders and got 9/25 delivery. Just cancelled that order and place a new order on the Apple website instead of app and 9/19 is my delivery now. I also noticed my credit card wasn’t charged for 1st order, but was charged right away for 2nd. 🤔 IMG_2746.pngIMG_2747.png

Should have tried that earlier 😞 also on the iUP but delivery was showing the 25th. Verizon charges $40 for activation? I could understand new lines but upgrades... T-Mobile would never 😂

So the bizarre 9/25 forced delivery date is a financing related issue. If you try to buy outright the same model with no carrier it delivers on 9/19. If you checkout with monthly installments it bumps it back to 9/25.

But if you pay monthly, and pick up in store, then 9/19.

Ridiculous.

EDIT: now it is working for 9/19 delivery for everything (this morning was 9/25) - so I have no idea what's going on.

They one to get all those previous ten iPhones from people in the iUP the same day to resale as soon as possible 🤣

Huh, I placed my order for a 17 Pro at 5.03 and was shown a 9/25 delivery. After seeing another post I went to the Apple.com site at 10.04 PDT and ordered the same thing, after canceling the other order, and it allegedly will be here 9/19. Whatever, it’s coming soon. Yay. I should have slept in.

What problem is that? A whole six minutes? The horror!
No, the horror is that you cannot get the phone on Apple Stores after 6 minutes they started the ordering process. But they will ship to my home. I have 6 Apple Stores within 20 miles from my home and none have phones available.

Out of curiosity I just looked at a white 512GB air, pro, and pro max. The air and pro listed 9/19 as of right now for delivery or pickup. The pro max shows Oct 6 - 13 for delivery.

Even if your order says 9/25, they will most likely ship and be delivered the 19th. When I went to order it even said I could pick up my phone from a local store on 9/17. I went back to change it and it said 9/19 again.

Interesting. I've done In Store Pickup on iUP and they send me a box separately to return it, I don't have to do it right in the store.
