can you go to an att store and walk out with the tv there? or is this online only with the 2-3 week wait? I don't want to airplay crap to my apple tv 3 for this to work. or should I just go buy one to test anyway, and order up as we have 2 rooms in need; and I tend on kicking comcast X1 to the curb.

Yes. I did that this morning and watching on my new Apple TV all day.

I just wish I could sign up. I keep getting an error even though my bank says there's no issues or reasons why the charge shouldn't go through. :(

I have PS Vue and pay $45 plus $15 for their HBO add-on totaling $60/month. Seriously thinking about switching because I could save $20/month by going with their $35 plus $5 for their promo deal plus HBO. My only issue is no DVR. I know that it will be here next year but I fear that once they get the DVR function, they will make you switch to their "new" plans to take advantage of it and you would lose out of the $35 promo

The way I look at it, you can't consider what the "future" will bring--good or bad. If there's no commitment from me and there's also no commitment from them then its a wash. You can switch back to PS Vue or anything else if that becomes a better deal and if AT&T changes the terms/channels/functionality in the future (i.e., goes back to acting like a carrier).

Anyone else gonna use this on tv and Fire TV stick with AT&T Fiber (1 Gbps) and an antenna for local channels? It may be a bit annoying to swap between the 2 inputs, but it's gonna drop the bill by $60/month and finally get rid of annoying cable boxes. As long as SSO works, this is gonna be fantastic. Somewhat disappointed with DVR functionality not being there (although, I really only want to be able to pause live tv for more than 10 seconds - use Hulu too so I don't care about recording shows), but hopefully it will come in the next few months.

One thing bothers me on the Fire TV and ATV is that if you want to go back to the previous channel it is not easy. Having to go into the guide everytime is a PITA
On ATV just swipe left and right to go up and down through the channels.

I've read a few posts here and elsewhere on the web with people not going for this because there's no DVR.

What's the difference if you don't have DVR about they allow you to watch the previous shows on demand? I understand if some shows aren't available but people have been dismissing this since before today without all the details.
VOD isn't the same thing. VOD doesn't let me fast forward or rewind. I'm not talking about just commercials but I can't even fast forward through the program. Sometimes I get half way into a program and have to stop watching. Right now I hit the record button on my DVR and watch it later. I'm able to fast forward through what I've already seen. Watching something later on VOD won't let me do that. I watch a lot of sports. Often I rewind and watch one play multiple times. You can't do that on most streaming services I've tried.

I'm also concerned that this isn't really different from when Dish and DIRECTV started. They ran ad inserts in newspapers in the 90s with the same deals. Same type of tiered channel lineups and it looked like the cheaper option to cable. Then after they acquired a solid customer base the prices went up and we find ourselves here now. This doesn't look any different. Except now they have more control of what you watch and how you watch it. Also you have to pay for internet service and that's another variable you don't have a lot of control over.

I'll keep waiting until someone can provide live streaming that I can control and watch what I want when I want.

God I wish there was ANY other provider here. The only other one is ATT's Uverse (DSL) which is limited to 12Mbps, and yet also includes a cap. I've got 3 kids that stream Netflix/Amazon/YouTube non-stop. We went over the cap this month (since they were off of school for a week for Thanksgiving break) and I had to relent and pay the $50 premium for true unlimited. I will never pay for any Comcast service other then internet because of this.

That really, really sucks. :( It's amazing with the advent of 4K streaming and the ever-growing popularity of digital downloads for game consoles/PC that NOW is the time to enable the caps in many/most states?! Like.... seriously? Even with CenturyLink fiber, the cap is an appalling 250GB a month UNLESS you get the gigabit plan. 250GB? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

"According to CenturyLink's "excessive use policy," the company has capped customers on 1.5 Mbps or slower lines at 150 GB a month. Customers on lines faster than 1.5 Mbps enjoy the luxury of a 250 GB monthly limit."

If CenturyLink dares to cap gigabit, I'll probably finally lose it.

I'm getting so desperate to leave Comcast I'd abandon Apple's entire ecosystem and go to Google's for some Google fiber. Not really, but I'd have to think about it really hard lol.

Lol CNN has no viewership left. That's not the issue, I assure you.
Not even close to being true.

Why are people so worked up over local channels? Get a good OTA and a Tablo DVR. You can record the local affiliates and with ATV, use the Tablo app. With this and streaming service, I never have to change inputs since everything i use has an app.

Because not everyone lives close enough to receive an OTA signal. Or they might not get good reception for other geographical reasons.

I think Directv should be more upfront and just call this program "Directvnow/beta". (They should stress the beta part) At least for the next 3-6 months. Cause that is what it is right now. They give you an Apple TV to test out their app for three months. In exchange you keep the device if you agree to prepay for the first 3 months.

But they should stress to all new customers that the service is in "early beta stages". This way someone signing up not familiar with live streaming services to much, should have more realistic expectations given to them. It would alleviate much of the complaints from some ppl.

I don't think a regular channel surf was the question/complaint but rather toggling (swapping) back and forth between two channels not near each other. There needs to be an easy way to do this. Many of us swap between two channels. I do it quite often when watching news. Some people do it with sports.

Does DirecTV Now have CSN Chicago and CSN Chicago Plus?
CSN Chicago, no plus.

Is this for real?

If I don't get mother****ing NBC on the Apple TV I'm going to be livid.
[doublepost=1480552949][/doublepost]Pretty terrible launch day. I've been selling the wife, parents, and others on this for weeks.
Unusable on AppleTV tonight. Not happy.
Seems to be a mixed bag, some people have NBC, and some don't.

There's really one glaring issue with this - only 2 streams. For a family, that's not a lot. For a single person, that's fine. They really need to up the streams to at least 3 or 4 for the price. Problem is, if we want more than 2, we have to pay $70 a month which defeats the purpose of getting rid of cable.

I am doing this sans the Fire TV. The Gigafiber is scheduled for install this Saturday. Lifetime price of $90/mo or less. Dropping the Xfinity Comcast 200 Mbps that will essentially be the same price after promotion ends. Even though I constantly call Comcast to threaten to leave, reducing my bill, this deal is will save $40/mo WITH the deals. For the faster speeds alone it will be worth it. I am now researching a house antenna, like from the 80's, as I have a coax line plumbed from the roof area to master control box, that ties into the amplified splitter. This will eliminate multiple ugly antennas on each wall, and tie into existing wiring. From what I'm told, DVRs will be available later 2017. I set all my AppleTVs up yesterday, and although I'm not happy about constant input switching, I'm going to use the TiVos with the OTA antennas to record off the broadcast channels, as 90% of what we record is through major network. It will take a little to get used to, but will provide way faster internet and a more unplugged opportunity. When the TV app is more powerful through Apple, I may then drop DirectTV.

I couldn't sign in on 3 devices yesterday without receiving a message that only two streams are allowed. Not sure if it is one of the technical issues being reported.

The good news about most of the issues Directv is having is it will make most of you cancel their service. Which means less stress on their servers, and a win for those of us who decide to stick with them for a while. Lol!

Yeah last night was a total mess. I kept getting the error about too many streams (just one), "the service is unavailable", and just random freezing at times. I think they are just getting slammed with people because of the Apple TV offer.

I am sure the demand has something to do with some of the issues. But, I have a feeling you can only be signed-in to two devices at once. Hope I am wrong.

If they couldn't handle the demand on day 1, will they be able to once millions more inevitably sign up? Apple TV gets error code 60 and Fire TV gets error code 40 is basically what I dealt with last night. I think between the 2 devices, I got to watch about 30 minutes of content. Not a good start...

Yeah, it seems to be having trouble on the server end right now. East coasters getting home and hammering the service, I bet. Give it a few days before panicking.
DON'T TELL ME WHEN TO PANIC!
YOU'RE TRYING TO CONTROL ME!
IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT ARE RUINING THIS COUNTRY!
I MUST HAVE MY TV NOW AND WHENEVER I WANT IT, BANDWIDTH BE DAMNED!!!!

(just in case, yes, I'm having fun...)

Glaring issue for some. More than enough for me.
