Heh. Signed up for three months at 6:30 eastern time, been searching for the app all morning.

To the questions above: they will ship the ATV (4th gen, 32GB) via FedEx, but give a 2-3 week estimate. Single-sign-on does not work with DTV Now; ESPN was the only app I tried that would accept DTV Now credentials.

They only promise SD quality video via the iOS app (I assume you'll get HD where appropriate via computer or set-top box), regardless of whether or not you're getting the free data use from AT&T. Pretty good for mobile, though, from my limited testing.
Single sign on will be available in the next release of iOS / tvOS

Working fine in the Chicago area.

Also, keep in mind that DirecTV said locals will only be accessible on mobile and desktop, not on streaming devices like AppleTV and FireTV.

That being said, ABC and my regional CSN Sports work on the AppleTV.

Does DirecTV Now have CSN Chicago and CSN Chicago Plus?

Now it won't me login in to my other ATV4. I keep getting this message.

And now my second error of the night. I am only using one stream, and keep getting this error.

I'm having this error too. Seems to every 90 - 120 seconds sometimes longer sometimes shorter. I'm also having some issues with movies that are in my "continue watching" cue. Seems a little buggy but that is to be expected. So far it seems very promising. I'm happy. They need to hurry with some fixes though.

1) I'm not renting a box for each TV from the cable company.
2) The prices are lower on average than a cable package (even with a bundle).
3) All prices go up.
4) Ala carte will never happen, and even if it did, it would be more expensive than you realize. You complain about 100 channels for $35, but that means that the channels I do want, I pay $0.35 per month for. If ala carte were ever to become a thing, you'd be paying at least $3.99 - $9.99 per channel. They would never sell you a channel for by itself for $0.35/mon. Never, ever, ever.

People don't watch networks. They watch programs. Hence, they spend more time channel surfing for something satisfying than actually watching. Most people return to the same few networks/channels to watch the few shows they like. It's why DVR features or OnDemand options are necessary and popular. Otherwise, when those shows aren't on, people mostly channel surf like raccoons rummaging through trashcans.

You can buy a show's entire season on iTunes for roughly $30. At that rate, you could watch twelve shows you actually want to watch for the same yearly cost as cable—without the clutter, ads and scheduling requirements of traditional tv.

Better yet, have patience and you can watch the majority of shows on Hulu and Netflix for even less $.

Likewise. Also getting an error 60. We're allowed two simultaneous streams but I've only been using one device at a time thus far. Had no issues at work with Chrome. Came home, tried the app on both iPad Air 2 and iPhone 7, got the error 60's a couple of times despite one stream. When the streams were working, the quality would be fine for a minute or so, then go to crap (easily noticeable if there is any text on screen, like a channel watermark), then be fine again, then freeze. Day One is gonna have some speed bumps no doubt.

I agree with there being speed bumps and understand for a new service ...just wish they'd "comp" you for the day(s) the service is down/unusable with these errors that still count against your trial period.

Just in case anyone's looking, local channels are not available in the Corpus Christi, TX market.

Don't think I'll be keeping this, unfortunately. We use it to watch the news mostly and it's only $10 add on to our current cable provider. I tried a Mohu antenna and I'm too far away for it to work.

i am trying it now, got one of the key channels to watch local nba games, also nba tv in the package. I want to see if is good enough to quit comcast cable. Looks promising so far.

Anyone with ATT Wireless and/or Directv satellite use the same email to sign up for Directv Now? Any issues/problems?

We use a different email for each service because we had major issues when Directv (which we had already) merged with ATT a while back. Just want to make sure there aren't issues cancelling Directv satellite if I am use the same email.

Hell I jumped on that. Normally the Apple TV is $150, this is $105 and comes with 3 months of live TV. That's a steal. Even if I can felt the live TV I saved $50 on the Apple TV lol
Can you cancel in 3 months and keep the Apple TV or do I have to pay a cancelation fee?

I current have AT&T U-verse but will likely drop it in favour of Directv Now.

The only thing I will miss will be access to the Pac 12 Network.

As a USC alumni, I will miss my Trojans there.

...for about 3 months*

*then it switches to the normal price of $<much higher> plus this fee and that fee and this other fee.

But enjoy the cheap bounty while it lasts. If it helps any, try to forget that's it's AT&T behind this whole deal.

I even see this perceived "grandfathering at $35" thing much like grandfathering unlimited data deal for cellular service. Again, enjoy it while it lasts. We should all know how this will play out.

Yeah, well if I can keep the $35 dollar deal for $100 channels for 6 or so years like I did the unlimited data plan on my cellular service... I'll be happy as can be. Folks like you are never happy no matter what. Like AT&T is the only one that ever goes up on cost and adds fees here and there. AT&T is such a big bad wolf, yet here you are in a forum talking about a new service they are providing.

They already confirmed that if do the $35/100 promo you are locked in that price for as long as you keep that package. :) Which was great to hear and a great deal IMO :)

One thing bothers me on the Fire TV and ATV is that if you want to go back to the previous channel it is not easy. Having to go into the guide everytime is a PITA. On Sling.TV the Roku you push the arrow button. I hope when they make the Roku app for DTVNow they will do the same thing.

I heard in the fine print there's the usual "Channels, features, and terms subject to change & may be discontinued without notice" which always leaves me tentative.

I really wonder if or how long before service providers without caps start putting caps or raise their prices because of this.

Call me a cynic, but all they really need to do is change the package name. That is, add one more channel in 6 months (say, CBS decides to join the party) and call the package by a different name. If you want the additional channel(s) then you can switch at the then-current pricing/promotions. While that may not play well with the subscribers, they've been doing it for years on mobile plans (e.g., you're on an grandfathered unlimited data plan but then phones start offering tethering capabilities; if you want to tether, you had to give up the grandfathered plan and switch to "unlimited plus"). Not always the case, but there are loopholes like that which mean they're not risking too much with promises like this.

That being said, I'm still trying it out if, for nothing else, an extra Apple TV for my bedroom.

But no contracts mean you can drop anytime. Many people were ticked off when Vue dropped the Viacom channels and they cancelled Vue with no contract.

I know, the Comcast cap coming into effect now is utterly idiotic. I waited about a week over here in Seattle, to let my nerves calm, and then canceled Comcast and went with CenturyLink gigabit. No caps.

Tempted to jump on this deal, too. Seems like a good idea!

God I wish there was ANY other provider here. The only other one is ATT's Uverse (DSL) which is limited to 12Mbps, and yet also includes a cap. I've got 3 kids that stream Netflix/Amazon/YouTube non-stop. We went over the cap this month (since they were off of school for a week for Thanksgiving break) and I had to relent and pay the $50 premium for true unlimited. I will never pay for any Comcast service other then internet because of this.

This is tempting for the ATV alone. I'm seriously considering this.

We're paying about $130 or so a month now for DTV.

Decisions, decisions...

thank you very much Auero

FYI one can do the "sign up for 3 months and get a free apple tv" from within the sign up process. I originally thought i would have to go to an Apple store.

This was a great deal. I signed up for $35/month 100+ channel package and prepaid 3 months for the Apple TV. Not bad, still paying for Comcast but might move to internet only, if this service is good.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.--Alphonse Karr

As expected, there’s no benefit to viewers other than the ability to stream to mobile devices. Otherwise, it’s the same business model as traditional cable tv… the few channels you want bundled with half-ass networks that have only one noteworthy program each. Don’t have kids in your household? Too bad. You still have to pay for a half dozen kid channels. Don’t follow politics? Too bad. There’s three C-SPAN channels anyway. Ask yourself… are the few channels you will watch, worth $35+ a month? And that price… it’s very temporary. Content providers raise their costs yearly. In turn, AT&T will raise their price.

I dagree. Had Directv service for 10 years, 200 channels. Many infomercial and shopping channel crap. With Now, that at crap is gone.

The 25 channels I watch is easily worth $35.00.

Does anyone know if I can do the7 day trial and then still sign up for the 3 month prepay to get the AppleTV?

Everyone knows that answer since the question has been asked 10 time already in this thread. SMH.

Yeah I know but it still causes you to be uneasy about the possible disappointment down the road if they choose to change the terms.

that and the possibility of providers reacting to this with caps and price hikes.

Why are people so worked up over local channels? Get a good OTA and a Tablo DVR. You can record the local affiliates and with ATV, use the Tablo app. With this and streaming service, I never have to change inputs since everything i use has an app.

I don't real care if they have commercials, since I am usually on my iPad while watching tv.
