yeah, I'm on the iPhone app. According to their website, when I put in my zip code (which matches my billing zip code), I should see these as live OTA

Network Affiliate
Fox KDFW-TV
NBC KXAS
Telemundo National East

I don't see any of these in the "Guide" portion of the iOS app.
Someone posted in the DirecTV NOW forums earlier with a similar issue (not DFW), a customer care rep said they would be working soon.

OTA channels only work on Browsers and FireTV/AppleTV. Mobile devices do not get them from what I've read.
Locals on mobile and browsers, not on AppleTV and FireTV.

If DirecTVs past is any indication, that $35 promotional offer is gonna be a permanent fixture.

...for about 3 months*

*then it switches to the normal price of $<much higher> plus this fee and that fee and this other fee.

But enjoy the cheap bounty while it lasts. If it helps any, try to forget that's it's AT&T behind this whole deal.

I even see this perceived "grandfathering at $35" thing much like grandfathering unlimited data deal for cellular service. Again, enjoy it while it lasts. We should all know how this will play out.

Safari requires Silverlight, so not sure if PiP works because I am not installing Silverlight.

Tip: Use Chrome in application mode:
/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --app=https://directvnow.com

Of course you could make an alias of this or use Automator to make it even easier to launch...

I got Fox and NBC on my FireTV this morning, don't have an Atv4 yet so I'm won't know til I have one.

I just checked I do have local channels ABC, FOX & NBC on the app too. But I'm on Wifi at work, not sure if that makes a difference.

The At&t Grandfathered Unlimited was good for a few years before they started throttling people on it. I think the $35 will hold for the first year but then increase to $40 but you'll receive more channels. Most likely CBS... and nobody has mentioned that the CW is missing so that and probably a few more less watched stations... I mean it's free on their own app but that's kind of a pain in the ass to not have on here.

I'm really surprised that El Rey is only on the top tier. That's a channel that nobody really watches and they need as many eyeballs on it as possible. I'd expect that to be moved to the basic tier within the next year too.

You understand no contract right? Day one and already this stuff /smh

ABC and Fox stream live on all platforms for me, NBC on-demand only AppleTV, and live on iOS.

Yeah, I have all networks on mobile, LTE and Wi-Fi.

Seems to be mixed results.

I like this, but the problem is that cable companies (Comcast in my case) charge very nearly as much for just Internet as for Internet plus cable. I think I'd save like $8/month by dropping cable but keeping my internet. (Granted I only have basic cable)

I have the same issue with Comcast - removing basic cable would actually raise my monthly rate to keep the same level of internet service. And when I looked into adding additional channels my bill would almost double - the only reasonable offer they had was for their X1 box with a contract and pricing that expired in 2 years in addition to renting boxes, etc...all of the icky stuff that I'd rather not deal with.

According to all of the channel guides and even a DTV rep I should see both CSN Bay Area and CSN California as Regional Sports Channels. I am only seeing CSN California. Any one in Nor Cal able to confirm if they can see CSN Bay Area?

I do understand that. But I also understand AT&T. When was the last time AT&T delivered a huge value for consumers at their own expense... and then stuck with it? Various analysts are speculating that they are probably losing money at these prices. If true- or if it's close- how long is AT&T going to choose to do that?

More simply: the bait looks delicious right now. Where's the hook*?

*again, this is AT&T.

Just signed up for DTV Now. DTV gave me a special pricing for their sattelite service that expires in July because I have ATT wireless. But once that expires I will cancel DTV and just keep the DTV Now service. Better bang for the buck. Plus I don't watch that much TV anyway.

Has anybody been able to download and use the directv now app on an Apple TV 3rd generation? I need to get a one for a second and I'm hoping it will work on the 3rd generation to save a little money.

Two days after the initial announcement, AT&T's new streaming television service DirecTV Now has officially launched on the iOS and Apple TV App Stores as a free initial download. [Direct Link] The service will allow customers to stream and subscribe to various channel bundles that range in price from $35 to $70, "with no commitments, no equipment, and no installers."

Specifically, the bundles start with 60+ channels ($35/month), 80+ channels ($50/month), 100+ channels ($60/month), and 120+ channels ($70/month). A seven day free trial is available for customers to check out any of the packages, and a limited time offer is knocking down the price of the 100+ channel bundle to $35 to entice new users into subscribing. Premium channels, like HBO and Cinemax, can be added onto any package at $5 per channel.

AT&T is offering new subscribers a free Apple TV if they purchase three months of pre-paid DirecTV NOW. The new streaming service is also available to watch on the web, and on Android and Amazon devices. The company promises a seamless viewing ecosystem across all of a user's devices, so they can pause a show and pick it up on any smartphone, tablet, or web browser that supports DirecTV NOW.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.--Alphonse Karr

As expected, there’s no benefit to viewers other than the ability to stream to mobile devices. Otherwise, it’s the same business model as traditional cable tv… the few channels you want bundled with half-ass networks that have only one noteworthy program each. Don’t have kids in your household? Too bad. You still have to pay for a half dozen kid channels. Don’t follow politics? Too bad. There’s three C-SPAN channels anyway. Ask yourself… are the few channels you will watch, worth $35+ a month? And that price… it’s very temporary. Content providers raise their costs yearly. In turn, AT&T will raise their price.

Your argument holds no water.

1) I'm not renting a box for each TV from the cable company.
2) The prices are lower on average than a cable package (even with a bundle).
3) All prices go up.
4) Ala carte will never happen, and even if it did, it would be more expensive than you realize. You complain about 100 channels for $35, but that means that the channels I do want, I pay $0.35 per month for. If ala carte were ever to become a thing, you'd be paying at least $3.99 - $9.99 per channel. They would never sell you a channel for by itself for $0.35/mon. Never, ever, ever.

And besides, the concept of the "bundle of channels" is not inherently bad or flawed. Good bundles, at good prices, that are not tied to 2 year contracts, and do require useless cable box rentals, and are not slaved to horrid UI's and remotes....are GOOD things for all.

No contract. If you feel like you're getting screwed, cancel the service. Simple pimple.

Aye, I added HBO for $5 and then freaked the hell out when I saw they didn't have all episodes of their shows available. But then I logged into HBO Go.

All better now. I put down the knife.
So you just put the DTV Now log in on HBO Go app and it will show all shows?
Weird that DTV Now doesn't offer it on their app.

Does anyone know if I can do the7 day trial and then still sign up for the 3 month prepay to get the AppleTV?

THIS is what Apple should of tried to do from the beginning. Signed up for the 100+ channel w/ 3mo prepaid for a free AppleTV (that alone makes this a steal). I can now buy an AppleTV for any room I want to add a 'receiver' to without paying the absurd price the providers ask (ironically, even DirecTV).

Finally looks like pay TV providers days are over. The only scary issue is that now most internet providers are now putting caps on their service. I'm limited to 1TB with Comcast, and have gone over that cap once already. This won't help that situation. I wish competition like GoogleFiber was available here, but politicians get bought out and block this from happening. Sigh

I know, the Comcast cap coming into effect now is utterly idiotic. I waited about a week over here in Seattle, to let my nerves calm, and then canceled Comcast and went with CenturyLink gigabit. No caps.

Tempted to jump on this deal, too. Seems like a good idea!

Service is crap I hope I can get my money back. FXX keeps buffering and then giving me Error 40 and no my Fire TV stick is not rooted.

So far no issues streaming for me on my At4. The odd thing that does happen is I add a show to my favorite watch list. And it disappears for some reason. I add it again, and it disappears again. Same thing with my favorite channels. I add a channel to my favorites, and it seems to remove them. Not sure why.
