Mattopotamus, you got that right. Unfortunately, I can't get local channels OTA. I had hoped Direct TV Now would be the answer to that in addition to giving me ESPN and CNN. Alas, without local channels, I am 99+ % certain to discontinue after my prepaid 3 months. I'll still have the ATV4 that will arrive via FedEx today, so no complaints, save for still not having found my cord-cutting solution. ☹️
I have had it freeze like that during on demand viewing. Here's something really annoying: The other day I was trying to use the "play from the beginning" feature to watch a program on CNN that had started an hour earlier. At first it seemed to work fine. Then after about half an hour, the video froze (while the audio continued playing). Nothing helped. So I decided to switch channels, assuming that after switching back to CNN I would be able continue watching. But when using the "play from the beginning" or "72 hour replay" feature, it is not possible to fast forward (or reverse). So to get back to where the video froze in the first attempt, I'd have to sit through the first half hour again just to get back to where I was.
This makes this feature more or less unusable if for whatever reason you cannot watch the replay in one go. Even in on-demand content you can fast forward, so there is no reason why it shouldn't work for the replay features too. Fix it, AT&T!

Where is the play from the beginning option on live tv?
It about more than being rural/distant. I live in a suburb just north of Chicago The local network feed is about 10 miles away. I can't get OTA in my apartment without installing an outdoor antenna, which I'm not going to do, considering I rent and coax would have to be brought through the walls. Something in the structure of my building blocks the OTA signal. When a commuter train goes by, my picture freezes and pixelates, and I've tried several different antennas and signal amplifiers. I actually got better signal when I lived 35 miles farther out. Go figure. But sometimes, the situation dictates that OTA can't be used and a service that provides locals are necessary.Do you live in a rural area where an antenna won't work? Most antenna these days, even the indoor ones, can pull in strong signal from 30-50 miles..
OTA is a much cleaner feed than you will ever get from cable.. I get about 57 channels on my antenna.. Some are garbage but some are decent..

It even says that fast-forward isn't available.![]()
In typical ATT fashion I received my shipping conf email today GET READY!Did the three month prepay the morning of launch, and never received the shipping email. My new AppleTV was delivered today.
I might get Hulu instead of DirecTV Now after my 3 month trial runs out. We watch video on demand way more than live, and the VOD library on DirecTV Now has actually gotten worse since the service began. Now some series on my watch list have no episodes available at all, instead of the random handful they had before.Amazing deal to get an atv. I cancelled my cable. Between Hulu and this I'm set
I have Hulu with no commercials and love it. Really wish they did not drop CW. But I also have Netflix and will watch as soon as the series ends (around April or so).I might get Hulu instead of DirecTV Now after my 3 month trial runs out. DirecTV Now website FAQ lists ABC as a third party app you can log into with DirecTV Now credentials, but that's not the case. Only standard DirecTV is an option.I have Hulu with no commercials and love it. Really wish they did not drop CW. However, I do like the deal for live tv options on Directv Now. And this grandfathered in deal is pretty good. Also, I expect we will have access to the main apps using our Directv Now Credentials (via SSO) and they have much more On Demand but "with commercials" so will be using them that much anyway.

CW made deal with NETFLIX to offer their shows right after the season ends and dropped current seasons from Hulu. Maybe past seasons are there but I am only concerned about current seasons on Hulu.Awww..they dropped the CW? So no more DC Universe? That's the only thing really worth watching on it.
Very limited at this point. I am really waiting for SSI Support then will see. But HBO Go was what I wanted right away so I could cancel HBO Now and save $10 per month. So my net cost is $25 per month.DirecTV Now website FAQ lists ABC as a third party app you can log into with DirecTV Now credentials, but that's not the case. Only standard DirecTV is an option.

I just checked the VUE Web Site and the cheapest is $39.99 (discounted from $44.99). And you only get 45+ Channels.Look into PlayStation Vue instead. WAY better service all-around than DirecTV Now, and it has a ton of VOD options, and a cloud-based 28-day DVR. Starts at $29 in most cities, too.
The ABC app on the ATV actually works with DTVN credentials. There is a link to "other providers" or similar that you have to click on the ABC page to get the full list of supported providers. ESPN and Disney apps should also work, but I haven't tried it yet.DirecTV Now website FAQ lists ABC as a third party app you can log into with DirecTV Now credentials, but that's not the case. Agreed. It's really hard to go back to commercials once you get used to watching without them.I have Hulu with no commercials and love it.
I went to the "other providers" section, and didn't see the option. I'll try again in case I missed it, unless for some reason ABC blocks me because my activation code shows I'm not in an ABC owned and operated market....The ABC app on the ATV actually works with DTVN credentials. [doublepost=1481393011][/doublepost]Agreed. It's really hard to go back to commercials once you get used to watching without them.At this point I use Hulu more than DTVN, but I like being able to watch live news and a few programs from channels that aren't available on Hulu. That together with getting HBO for just $5 will probably be worth it for me to keep it. But it has to become more reliable ...
I would check again more carefully. I was able to activate on both my iPad (normal activate) and my Apple TV (which requires going to abc.com/activate with a code since DIRECTV Now does not support SSO. The list is shown before I entered my DIRECTV NOW Credentials. Maybe it checks for my zip code before putting on the list of providers but I would not think so.I went to the "other providers" section, and didn't see the option.
