I actually went with the PS Vue trial and will most than likely subscribe, picture quality is great, there is no buffering that plagued my Sling TV Attempts, and the have both my local sports network and a cloud dvr. I'm pretty impressed for $35 a month. I used it both on the 2nd gen firetv stick and the Apple TV 4 and I give the edge in looks and usability to the Fire stick

If you can I highly recommended going to an ATT store and signing up for service If you were interested in the free apple tv. I called my store last night and they held the last apple tv gen4(32GB) they had for me. Sign up process is the same as online(They do it on their ipads) and they ring out the apple tv no charge. Took me 5 mins, didnt have to wait a month for the Apple tv to ship!

They are shipping must faster than the email quotes. I, like others, already have the ATV through the online process. Like you said though, in store is easier if they have stock.

Notice the mis-spelling in the foot note: ... local channels ... "were available". Should be "where available". This image might be a fake.

I really like the PSVue. But they run West Coast feeds here in California... which is stupid. I hate West Coast feeds. If I wanted to watch something 3 hours later, I'd DVR it. The video quality is the best and there was rarely any lag. Can't say the same for Sling TV and DirecTV NOW. They have both been buffering messes and the VOD features on DTVN is beyond disappointing currently. They really need to step up their game if they want to keep me as a customer or I'm going back to SlingTV. At least I can watch SOME stuff from earlier in the day.

Yesterday I used the "72 hour rewind" feature for the first time to watch a TBS show that aired Monday. It actually worked very well. May alleviate the need for a DVR feature for now. But the on-demand section really sucks at the moment.

I can't figure out how to use it... Is it only for certain programs?

Thanks for the info on the 72 hour rewind. This could indeed be a useful partial substitute until a DVR comes along.

But the list of supported channels seems to be not entirely accurate. NBC Sports, for example, is shown as being supported but is not actually implemented, at least as of now. In general, news channels seem to be supported and sports channels not supported.

Open the Guide and click a station logo. If the feature is available, it will show at the top of the timeline. It's not available on all channels though, and doesn't seem to cover all programs on the channels that do support it. Also see:

Got it... thanks! I figured it out on my work computer, but I saw barely any programs so I thought it wasn't working. Is it the same on Fire Stick? I thought it just went to the channel when I clicked on the Logo. Could be wrong. I don't like the UI so far... it's really not intuitive.

Picked up my Apple TV from the online promotion during my lunch break at my local FedEx center since I'm never home when they attempt deliveries. They're definitely moving way quicker than their quotes. Initial email said I'd get it in 2-3 weeks. Got tracking Sunday, and that email said I'd get it by the 12th. Arrived today 12/7. (Ordered on launch exactly 1 week ago)

I've used DirecTV Now a few times with the iPhone app and it's been decent so far, but I was waiting on this Apple TV to really dive into it on my TV. Since I live in NYC I get the benefit of the local channels I see a lot of people complaining about not getting.

Messed around with both Sling TV and PS Vue (Had sling longer), hoping this is my long term option!

It doesn't look like the on demand catalog is being updated. For me it's unusable for the most part.

Yeah. I was excited on Day 1 but by Day 6 I was over it and cancelled the service. I cut the cord like 4 years ago and didn't realize how outdated live tv feels now after using Netflix, Hulu, etc. DVR would have been great but I'm not waiting for it and the VoD offering is weak.

I am happy with he service and will probably stick with it..

I've been a cord cutter for about 8 years now and have no plans on changing that..

When these services 1st started I had SlingTV and that was a mess and from what I can tell, still is.. PS Vue was pretty darn good but the GUI is a disaster! So far I am happy with Now. Sure it's missing on demand at the moment and hopefully that will come I time.

I mainly use the service for news (Fox News), ESPN, and AMC (The Walking Dead).. I hope they get the NFL Network by next year for football...

I have an antenna to get my locals and they come on crystal clear. I also have a Tivo Roamio OTA for guide and DVR service. I scored the Tivo from Amazon last year when they had the lifetime OTA deal for $299....

Overall I am happy with Now. Hopefully on demand comes and I'd like to see the NFL Network.. Other than that, $35 a month for the Go Big package is gravy!

Does anyone know if there is a trial period? Like if you cancel within 7 days or something you can be refunded?

I haven't read or seen anything, so I'm guessing no, but just wanted to check.

Also, can I use the DirectTv Now log in to sign in the individual network apps? (If so, I'd use the apps to catch up on episodes in the case I missed the 72 hour window)

Thanks for the info!

I already have an apple tv, so I think I'm going to try it out for the trial just to see.

doing the 7 day trial now. I already have an ATV so the additional would be awesome to put on the bedroom.
comparing to my regular DTV- programming is only about 10-12 seconds behind and PQ it looks real good. Whats stopping me from going to DT NOW is that 1. I'm under contract still with DTV -which means ETF and 2. No local channels

Live TV seems so outdated. I'm in the same boat. I'll be using Plex more often than DirectTV on my "free" Apple TV.

was interested in this until hearing about everyone complaining...so...ordered ATT Uverse instead.

This is the setup I am hoping to set up. I still have cable but the FiOS contract is up in a few months so I have time to decide, which is why I got DTVN. I tried Sling but I didn't like it. Sports is the main reason for DTVN. ESPN, YES Network, etc. Glad it works for you and hoping it all works for me as well!

It's great for those who do not need local channels. For me I need at the very least NFL red zone. I really wish Sunday ticket was an option.

Mattopotamus, you got that right. Unfortunately, I can't get local channels OTA. I had hoped Direct TV Now would be the answer to that in addition to giving me ESPN and CNN. Alas, without local channels, I am 99+ % certain to discontinue after my prepaid 3 months. I'll still have the ATV4 that will arrive via FedEx today, so no complaints, save for still not having found my cord-cutting solution. ☹️

I ordered early in the morning. Nothing from FedEx as well. Hopefully receiving soon some shipping info or just right away on my doorstep :).

Just received it this morning on my doorstep without any notification about shipment. Happy camper now.
