But the thing is, I grew up on the science fiction that said amazing technology will keep getting smaller and smaller.

I never imagined it would reverse itself and people would be walking around with flatscreen TV next to their head. By choice.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy how we seem to be heading back to the earliest cell phones which were enormous. I loved the very thin flip phones that were developed right before smartphones took over.

I really like the size of the earlier smartphones. I had a LG phone that was about 3 inch screen. Then a Samsung that was 3.5 inches before I got the iPhone 6 at 4.7 inches. The LG at 3 inches would be my perfect iPhone size. Won't ever happen, so just have to settle for the SE at 4 inches and be happy it exists.

I have two SEs and live in the UK, but I’m happy if anyone in the US manages to buy one of these SEs because MacRumors alerted them as to their availability.

I think it’s a shame some people apparently can’t see the value for others because they had to spend a few seconds deciding they weren’t interested in the story, and so therefore think no-one else should be...

out of curiosity, i jumped on ebay and looked at sold listings for new unlocked space gray 128gb. surprised to see several
sold for big bucks, up to $650!

I'm wondering why there almost has never been iPhone 8's available in the refurb store. I've been checking consistently for the past 8 months and only during a short stretch around last November were they available. I wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger on an 8 at that point, and figured they'd eventually be in the refurb store as consistently as the 7 ... but boy, was I wrong.
I have been watching the Refurb tracker emails and it is true that whenever 8s land in the refurb store buyers quickly scoop them up! I think these buyers must be trying to resell them online at a higher price.

Heck yeah baby!!! Just copped a second 128GB black Verizon SE. Gonna ####break this thang & keep it as a spare. Screw these big phones, I'm gonna pick it up in full tye dye, shoot a video with my existing SE, and watch them all melt as I explain why their current offering are complete and utter garbage!!! Weight matters, and one handed use matters! The meek will inherit the earth!!!!

Don't worry guys, we are working on a way to revert all the SE phones back to iOS 9, even the 128GB ones that came out for iOS 10. THE BEAST WILL NOT BE SHUT DOWN

Not that it is available now, but isn't the Verizon unlocked version the most universal of the iPhones?

Adding a SIM makes this a universal GSM phone, doesn't it?

It’s more about the consumer behavior and what they use their phones for.

Remember that some people did think your preferred 3-4” phones to be too big compared to their flip/feature phones back then as well.
- when phones were used to be just to make phone calls, smaller phones is desirable. Size was just due to limitation of technology.
- then we have texting. You see phones then are getting larger to accommodate a keyboard and larger screen
- now a phone has become more than just calls and texting. For many, it’s liteerally the only computer they have and with them to do everything, from entertainment to productivity. Thus the demand for larger canvas (screen) to accommodate those uses.

So it’s not a regression. The tech is moving forward. Look at the actual hardware of an iPhone minus the battery, and it’s really really tiny for a computer. The tech does get smaller. It’s just the canvas (screen) that’s bigger. Until we get to neural projection, larger screen is still necessary unfortunately.

No they are all the same model, regardless of carrier. So the Verizon is no different than the ATT. They will all work the same when a SIM is added on any carrier. The only difference is that the ESNs were all locked to a specific carrier, and that lock has since been removed. These may include a carrier specific SIM, but now I'm starting to wonder if that's true -- I haven't bought a carrier-locked phone since my original iPhone.

$299, 128GB storage, brand new, latest iOS supported, 1 year warranty - enough said. The next 128GB iPhone is iPhone 7 at - $549. ($250 price difference)

Apple reluctant to bring the iPhone 6S/7 to this level ($299), otherwise they will sell like hot cake as well

Good to have $299 price point (with decent storage capacity either 64/128GB). Let us see what happens Sep 2019.

I just replaced the screens on a few iPhones, and it's really amazing how small the logic board is. It seems that connectors and the SIM tray take up more board space than everything else. It's really a marvel of engineering on so many levels. Just the fact that they can get that kind of graphics and CPU performance with a minuscule power draw and no fan is really unbelievable.

I wish there was some way to turn old iPhones into tiny general-purpose microcontrollers. You could just glue them to the side of something and they'd work forever, in any environment.

This comes on the same day that I dropped mine in the toilet. It's not even a year old. The Touch ID sensor is now faulty.

Should I buy one?

I was just thinking about this, and truly it doesn't make a lot of sense based on how most people use mobile phones. A larger screen doesn't really improve texting, which is likely the predominate use of a phone. In fact it makes texting with one hand worse. Given that's most of the use, texting, facebook, e-mail ... a much larger screen doesn't really improve anything. You don't need a larger screen to listen to music, or podcasts. You don't need a larger screen for maps with turn by turn direction. Googling lists of things and information doesn't really require a larger screen. About the only functions where a larger screen is helpful is for photos and movies on the go. And for those who only have a phone as their computer, I can understand why someone would want a giant phone. It's true that holding it up one's head is getting less and less necessary, so it doesn't quite carry the stigma it once did. But for some, such large phones do present practical challenges. I saw a woman the other day at the gym wearing her iPhone XS Max around her waist like a belt buckle, and it was almost wider than her waist.

I think what perplexes me and others, is that while a large number of the population, maybe even a majority, prefer super-sized phones for various reasons, given the predominant use of phones by many, it's hard to imagine Apple won't address the segment of people who don't rely on the iPhone as their primary computer, have other devices in the Apple ecosystem to better address some needs, and/or don't use the iPhone as a significant video device, preferring instead a device that addresses their most common needs in a package that actually fits in their clothes and pockets.

The supernatural forces are acting in step to guide you to a great iPhone!:apple::)

All colors still available - go for it.

:DI will not ask the "other" question that comes to mind.

Apple just wants to force larger screens on everyone at gunpoint basically because they need to sell "services" and having a larger screen means you become more disconnected from the real world and glued to (((Apple's World))) where they can upsell you on more streaming content because it's easier to see videos on larger devices and they can line their pockets by enslaving you to the device instead of making the device a slave to it's owner. You must not allow yourself to be brainwashed into it, or you will lose your soul and wake up one day and realize you sold your life away, and that would be a sad day

If we have to destroy Apple so be it, the fate of humanity is at stake. It is not being run by visionaries, but by bean counters

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've waited for this for so long! At last! I just copped the iPhone SE 128GB - Space Gray - T-Mobile SIM (Unlocked) for $326 total with 2-day shipping.

Best smart phone on the market. This little device can do everything I used to do on my iPhone X, without any of the annoyances of a slippery soap-like feel and atrocious Face ID.

That's what it comes down to for me. I had a 2009 iMac and upgraded to a 2017 iMac. Spent $1600 on it and I use it all the time for web browsing, videos, etc. I don't need the phone to do the heavy lifting for me in this regard. I understand people who use their phone as their only computer would prefer a very large phone screen. But that doesn't mean the rest of us should be left without good options. I am glad the iPhone SE exists and I'm glad Apple brought it back temporarily.

As of right now ...

Apple is THE ONLY manufacturer (I think) publicly selling a 4” smartphone. If not the only one, heir the only one that has a 4” smartphone that runs on their latest smartphone OS. His is HUGE value!!

My son yet again broke his phone we’re its damaged. Hopefully there is enough SE’s in stock in Toronto so that I can buy him one.

If not then the 7 at 64/128GB will have to do.
