Does anyone remember if shipping was free the previous time this phone was in stock? I think Apple typically ships phones for free and so it is a bit weird they are charging $8.00 for shipping.

They have charged the $8 dollars each time for the SE. It is weird.

The last batch from February 14 was without shipping charges - I bought. I made the same enquiry here, in reverse.

Thanks to Mac Rumors for posting this availability update. I was finally able to order the ONLY iPhone that I wanted — an unlocked iPhone SE 128GB Space Gray.

For those who aren’t aware, these smaller iPhones are great cameras when attached to a spotting scope for long focal length nature photography, i.e. digi-scoping.

I finally hit when there are still SEs in stock, and me without my credit card -:(

Your card may be available for use under your Apple account - try it. There are some still available, even the coveted 128 GB Grey.

I'd consider picking one of these up if I thought I was going to stay in the Apple ecosystem. As it is, my iPhone 6s and 2010 MacBook Pro will continue to get me through the next year or two, after which I may very well migrate to Debian Linux.

Even if Apple does an about-face by next year and releases a Mac Pro and MacBook Pro that interface properly with people and their peripherals, that don't have a half-dozen quality issues... I still don't know if I would stay. I expect my hardware purchases to last me 5-10 years, and I will not throw my lot in with a company that keeps jerking its customers around.

Buggy software and buggy hardware used to be something you came to Apple to get away from. Sadly, Apple's reputation is far removed from what their current offerings are. (Not to mention I've had my eyes opened of late regarding the true cost of the walled-garden society. Little encroachments now make bigger encroachments more viable later on – and we're not just talking technology, here.)

I got mine from the last clearance batch, and I just noticed now after the exchange period (not that there would've been a way to exchange) that it has a dead pixel. Can Apple Stores still fix the SE or am I better off buying one of these and selling the dead pixel one? I don't see why I couldn't just get this one fixed but I don't know how parts are still being supplied. I'm assuming they would just replace the screen?

Oh, look. Tim opened the junk drawer in his kitchen again!

The rest just went on Craigslist.

Agreed. Seems like it is free pick-up in store.
[doublepost=1550608727][/doublepost]Does it matter which carrier model I choose since they are labeled as unlocked? Having a hard time choosing between T-mobile and AT&T.....thanks.

I bought a Verizon iPad Air 1 back when they came out. I can get the $20/1GB/30days plan for it. I bought an "unlocked" iPad 10.5 a couple months ago. I can't get that same deal for it. It's "not eligible". So it might make a difference what plan you can get. No clue, though. I don't have no stinking phone. :) I would/might get one of these if I didn't think it would stop getting iOS updates in the near future.

So many new models among refurbished. Why are they sitting in stock, and nobody is buying them? Turns out SE is not popular as few MacRumors members want us to believe.

The fact these are sitting in inventory is the first clue that your specious conclusion is incorrect. Apple does not stockpile product -- they are textbook just-in-time, manufacture-on-demand, delivery. Some of these phones were manufactured in September, the month Apple pulled them from the shelves. So this was more likely a last minute decision on the part of Apple to withdraw them from active sales to promote their new models. Otherwise, the cost of sitting in a warehouse for 5 months is much higher than simply discounting them and pushing them out the door directly from Apple. The fact that these sell out in a matter of hours after being listed on Apple's obscure Clearance site, for 4 times running now is pretty telling that these have some popularity. As for Apple's plans it's anybody's guess.

Wish I had a crystal ball so I could see into the future; if this is Apple's last 4" device I'd definitely pick one up as a backup in case my current one up and dies on me.

But if there's a new 4" iPhone waiting in the wings, no sense in me spending the cash on this.

I picked up one as a backup and I'm happy I did. I fully plan on buying an SE2 if one were to be released in the near future too, with no regrets. At this price, it makes an excellent travel phone, among other things.

I wonder if by releasing carrier specific ones they can start to not only collect data on who wants to still buy them, but now on what type of carrier they sell them to. By collecting not just sales numbers, but also carrier information, they can better tally who's genuinely interested in the product. I got one a few rounds ago, and couldn't be happier.

This will be Royal waste of someone's $249+tax for a phone which might lose support this year.

Reasons :

1. Inflate sales numbers.
2. Wild guess but laughable assumption - keep those people in the Apple ecosystem who might leave Apple soon.

Don't know what these highly paid geniuses at Apple are thinking about marketing. They have miserably failed at understanding peoples need in US. They expected those giant phones to be loved in US too. Giant phones is a thing in other countries like India and China. As that's the only device people have there.

This is a great size, with full screen it will be perfect overall phone. That will a great hit in US. This SE size phone should be the only phone they release as their flagship now that China has given the boot. Go back to your old days of one flagship device.

Apple relied too much on China and in the process ignored US customer's needs which was a SE size full screen phone. And while you are at it, please get rid of the ugly notch. Hate it.

The 6.5" model outsold the 5.8" by 2 to 1 in the U.S. last December. Giant phones are wanted by everyone and everywhere.

On a phone that is $271 or $328 (or so) after tax, $99 for AC+ is a lot for a low priced phone.
Well, you'd think so. But plan ahead. If that phone breaks down, and you have AppleCare, they have to give you a new phone (refurbished probably). But say 18 months from now, they won't have any iPhone 5s anymore, so they will have to give you the cheapest phone that is at least as good as your 5se. Which would be an iPhone 7 today, but probably an iPhone 8 in 18 months time.

Unfortunately not unlocked. Cricket Wireless, last September. I have seen unlocked ones sealed on eBay for around $200 though. Although you risk the chance that its AppleCare is depleted or that you won't even get what you paid for to begin with.

Right. So you paid $150 to be locked into a Cricket Wireless account which requires you to likely pay far more than the retail cost of the phone had it been bought through Apple new. Definitely not as a good a deal as what's being offered here.

I paid $8.00 for all of mine. It can be waived if delivered to an Apple Store.

Agreed. Seems like it is free pick-up in store.

They're all the exact same model. Apple has had the carrier's remove the phone information from their database, so there are no restrictions.

Apple will likely just do a swap in the store. My understanding is the SE is still being manufactured for sale in other territories. So some new stock is likely made for US warranty repairs which are covered for another year. Either way, there is likely a fair amount of new stock on hand at this point given the SE's reliability record. So depending on Apple's policy with respect to the dead pixel, probably taking it to the Apple Store. You will most likely take a loss selling it on eBay with a defect.

Please keep posting these every single time they come into stock.

I gave into temptation with the SE as a backup phone last month, just before they started showing up at apple.com. I went with the ATT Prepaid one, only 32GB, but it IS a backup phone. Netted about $150+tax, with the downside compared to these that I have to wait another 5 months before I can unlock it.

My previous backup phone was a 7+, and this is a better size for backup use. And that frees the 7+ to either go to some family member at some time or be used as a trade in if I decide on a new phone this fall.

Would these make a good LTE hotspot? I guess, according to the recent article, they won't be as fast as the new ones, but that's OK.
