My $2.99 / mo Disney / Hulu plan just sent me an email it’s going up to $12.99 October 21st. Will be canceled long before that. o_O 📺💰
Will see if new cyber Monday deals come along after that.

they don't have enough regular content to be worth it
I’m torn. You aren’t wrong about Disney+ not having enough regular content to be worth it, and these very frequent price hikes across streaming services really makes me want to dust off the Jolly Roger. At the same time, anyone with young children are doing different math to determine the value of Disney+

I have AMEX credit that I use for the ESPN+ Hulu bundle, yet I will be cancelling.

At this point, Captain Hook will be able to help me watch Disney shows and movies at any time I want

On the verge of cancelling now my wife has watched "everything".

It won't be a political statement because I don't like how people only bother to protest when a talk show is cancelled. Yes, freedom of speech is the bigger issue, but there have also been bigger issues where few have bothered protesting.

None of them have enough regular and fresh content to be worth it. 90% of the content is just regurgitation. And of the 10% that isn't, it's moronic and of little interest to anyone with a brain. Disney, Paramount, Peacock and most of the sub brands fail completely. Humans are incredibly disappointing. Their appetite for stupidity is astoundingly immense.

You could argue in an alternate universe if he went the Joe Rogan / Bill Simmons route and just started his own media company (podcasts etc) instead of sticking with legacy broadcast TV, he’d have far more market relevance and value today.

In fact I personally think he should quit now and do that to capitalize on the news.
They would sell out for the payday and soon be bundled with ad on a huge streamer.

Very disappointing to hear about a price hike. Streaming services are becoming very expensive. Thankfully there is no hike yet in my region, but it might happen soon.

Luckily I enjoyed it while it was at just 6.99€, saw all the marvel movies, some other shows… when they started rising prices I jumped ship and, if in the future there are several interesting things to watch, I’ll subscribe to a single month and that’s it.

They hike prices like there isn’t a limit? Well, consumers’ habits should evolve then. They could have lots of people subscribed indefinitely with an anual subscription. They want more? We give them less…

Yeah, all companies keep rising prices, and I really wonder if there’s a limit on the monthly price…

Maybe if they sense that our consumption habits change and instead of a whole year we start picking spare months, they will increase the single month price to encourage people to go for longer subscriptions… I don’t know, apparently “******fication” of services has no limits.

I cancelled my sub on principle last week and I'm realizing that I really never watch anything on that service. Same with Hulu, but I'm getting that included with my Spotify sub.
Yeah, I realized something similar with other streaming subscriptions. It’s strange but when I’m subscribed for several months, I end up forgetting I’m actually subscribed and not using their service.

I love Blu-ray, DVD and VHS (still a bunch of Disney movies that are only found on VHS) for this reason. No ongoing costs or price hikes and I can always watch whether the Internet works or not, whether I have money every month or not or etc. This just proves I made the right choice. No streaming or renting content. I get to own a copy or I might as well join Captain Hook and sail the high seas.
