Lol do you know how many more customers apple has and what type of expectation they have compared to these chinese tech companies? I've used/tried these so called 'under the display tech' from xiaomi and they are at BEST half baked. Meaning the tech itself has TONS of compromises in terms of usability and design/function. I have used these phones and guess what it only works successfully 5/10 times.. maybe 6/10.

These 'tech' the chinese tech companies produce is only possible because they're customer base is basically either non-existent (compared to apple's customer base) so they can do sh**ty tech and call it 'the first innovators'. Please don't fool yourself that the two tech giants Apple and Samsung doesn't have a way to create these half baked 'tech' from xiaomi and huawei are doing. Its not really 'advancement' its more like compromises and telling the world that they're first or they're the only ones that can do it. Apple has HUUUUUGE customer base they gotta take care of and chinese tech is NOT going to cut it because it is not that great.

Kind of annoying these chinese tech companies coming out with sh**ty and half baked tech and claiming that they're first and only ones that can do it.. Apple and Samsung has to do it for REAL not just create compromising tech. Because their fanbase is real and sizeable. So they cannot use half baked and compromising 'tech'.

Samsung is the biggest electronics company in the world leading in technology and total domination of the market. Apple is the same but with mobile phones. The tech they are going to bring is REAL not some sh**ty pretend tech. So when THEY do it.. its the real deal.

Don’t kid yourself and ask yourself.. if the tech the xiaomi and huawei are actually great tech then Apple would’ve ordered BATCHES of it. Take a look at the tech Apple buys from Samsung (displays & chips), LG (displays & camera), sony (camera), sharp/Panasonic (camera). Free market is a wonderful thing.

There is a reason why Apple DOES NOT buy from xiaomi and Huawei.. its because its not good. Its not real tech. Apple know its crippled tech. And no, its not because its for national security.. it’s freaking screen tech and to add on top of that, Apple DOES buy from Chinese tech (well its Taiwanese to be exact) they buy HUUUGE amount of chips from TSMC.

Apple not buying 'tech' from chinese tech companies speaks VOLUMES. There is a reason why they're not doing it.

Go ahead try one of these xiaomi and hueewei's under the display camera and finger print sensors.. they absolutely TERRIBLE. Just try one you'll know what I mean. Its not real innovation. The real advancement will come from Apple and Samsung. TRUST me on this.
Hmm, Xiaomi is using Sony and Samsung camera sensors. Xiaomi is not a part manufacturer.
When we are talking about the components, majority of phones on the market, including iPhones, are using the parts from the same manufacturers. There are only a few companies making certain parts. Samsung is unique that they are both parts and phone manufacturer.

I might be in the minority, but hole punch camera is more annoying than the notch. With a hole punch, there’s content around it, so it’s more noticeable.

I liked that concept from a couple years ago where the camera system was squished into the top bezel-

Apple could buy this old tech from Xiaomi/Huawei.
Apple is so cheap when it comes to manufacturing hardware and innovations. But they charge sheets premium price on the name of security and 'FIRST TO MARKET'.

China is Apple's hardware and ideas supplier/

Seems like any non-pro iPhone model will soon become the equivalent of a red headed child- tolerated but forgotten

It's OK being a red headed child, I have already had one for 10 months, the 12 mini and it is excellent. If the choice in 2022 is between the previous year's 13 mini and a new 14 with no notch, call me old school....

I wonder if I’m in a tiny minority. I’m planning to swap my 12 Pro for a 13 mini as long as I don’t lose more than one of the cameras.

Small hands y’see. I’m willing to try the mini for a year and see if the lack of the Pro features and smaller screen size bothers me.

i went from a 10x to a 12pro and wasn’t really feeling the hard edges / larger screen. It wasn’t as ergonomic as I was used to. I am thinking about the mini but I was hoping there would be a mini pro. Same features just smaller screen

Meanwhile my Xs Max has a notch that doesn't bother me, and has 3D Touch which I greatly miss when I use my newer phone. Long press is so.. antique.

I am sure the new phones will be great, but the one feature I greatly desire is USB-C on these devices. My MacBook, iPad, PC Laptop, Android Phone, many cameras, drives, and many chargers are all unified. Yet I am still stranded with non-standard Lighting on my iPhones.

Besides the fact that this IS an opinion, some would say a large notch that fades into the bezel, not noticeable when using, is better than a hole punch that has unusable pixels on the other side of the hole punch, making it more noticeable during use.
Fades and not noticable? Right 🙄

For me TouchID was awful. It barely worked, and I had different models. FaceID is much better, especially at the gym.

Also, FaceID allows for notifications to become readable without having to unlock your phone, something that would be impossible with TouchID.
Actually it’s very possible with TouchID and no, FaceID definitely unlocks your phone to make notifications readable.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews > When Unlocked.

Then Settings > Accessibility > Home Button > Disable “Rest finger to open”.

Now you can just rest your finger to reveal the contents of your messages on the Lock Screen without actually unlocking your phone, unlike FaceID that has to unlock your phone to reveal the contents.

What is the obsession with a notch and the unhealthy, anorexic obsession with thinness? I really don't notice it. Its actually a pretty good used for phone indicator information. Honestly, a periscope zoom lens camera, better battery life and getting rid of the charging port in favor of better water resistance would be better issues for product development to focus on.

Or have normal to poor vision. The SE isn’t the mini. The 12 and 12 pro are way to big for use that requires one to go outside. If you leave your phone on a desk all day it’s good enough, but for anyone who wants a phone will all day battery that isn’t a pain the mini is THE option. The only issue with the mini is that Apple won’t pair it with flagship hardware. So if you want a phone with the best stuff you have to save I’ve being able to use it comfortably.
Flagship hardware doesn’t fit in the mini. And if you use it primarily as a phone, then it’s perfect for you.

In my case, I use my phone for a lot more than just making calls and checking emails. So I don’t mind carrying a bigger phone. I don’t even mind carrying my iPad Pro, although sometimes I do leave it and depend only on my phone do get work done.

Given that the iPhone 14 models are still under development, under display Face ID has not been finalized and could still be scrapped, and in that situation, Apple would likely be forced to revert to a notch-style design. If we don't see under-display Face ID in 2022, it could instead come in 2023.

It's nice to be a "leaker". You say when it does not come in 2022, then it will come maybe in 2023. But when it does not come in 2023, then you say that it will come maybe in 2024 and so on and everyone will quote you on that 😆. That is ridiculous :)

Flagship hardware does fit in the mini, the issue is that the pro max needs less hardware.
