I intended to reply earlier, but am volunteering helping people who suffer terribly from carrying an iPhone 4S which despite being much smaller, weighs a whopping 140 grams. Those people haven't much of a life these days, the weight of that phone crippled them. I dread to think what happens to those poor iPhone 6s+ owners.
It won't be too much of a problem for me, as my wallet is much thinner after ordering a new iPhone 6s+, but I will make sure to change pockets to make sure the weight is not damaging my hips. I will also do some weight lifting to get my hands, arms and shoulders adjusted to the new weight. I am now doing neither of those, instead I will shut up and leave all you lovely people in peace.
I was at the press release of the new iPhones, Im in the ER now with a torn rotator
ANY amount less than a dollar? *hands heavy sock full of coins*

What about ninety-nine pennies?! Muahahahahahahahahaha*coughcoughchoke*ahem
a wise ass, I like that.

I've learned something from this thread. Something can only be deemed to be heavy if it is extremely difficult to lift. If we have two pens and one is made of thin plastic, the other thick iron that you can barely grasp, then the thick iron pen isn't heavy or cumbersome as compared to gym equipment it is considered easy to lift.

Count me in as one of those who wishes they would quit with the "thinner and lighter" and go the "beefier internals and more battery please". And I actually have arthritis, so none of this whining about getting arthritis from carrying a damned phone.

I have tendinitis in both hands and I'm not worried at all with the extra .7 ounces. I didn't read all 5 pages of responses, so I don't know if the conversion from grams to ounces was done.

Sure it isn't much heavier but the point I and some others are making is that the 6+ is already a huge, cumbersome phone and to make it even heavier - even by a matter of grams - is a step in the wrong direction. I'm a 6+ owner and I wouldn't hesitate to swap this for a phone with more RAM but I'm still not happy with the weight of it. It's nothing to do with thin/thick. The 5S was thicker but it was featherlight.

I understand the OP's concern, as the weight increase is significant. However, I like some heft to the phone, makes it feel more secure and gives a feel of quality. However, I can't even imagine packing a 6+ size phone around. I like the size and heft of my 5s.

That's the point though, the 5S has zero heft. It's a featherlight phone. Not only is the 6+ way bigger, it's also way heavier.

5S - 112 grams
6+ - 172 grams
6S+ - 192 grams

Once again, someone is comparing apples to oranges. You're comparing a 5S to a PLUS phone. A much bigger phone period. Why are you not comparing a 5S to a 6S? Oh, I think I know why - it's not as dramatic!

5S - 112 grams
6S - 143 grams

A whopping 31 grams more. 1 ounce more. 6.5 Sugar cubes to give you perspective.

Now, 6S to 6S Plus

6 Plus - 172 grams
6S Plus - 192 grams

Another whopping 20 grams more. .7 ounces more. 5 Sugar cubes

All that weight -

If you start talking like that and equating everything to sugar cubes then we can say that a 4X4 only weighs X number of sugar cubes more than a small hatchback.
The increase in weight of the 6S+ over the 6+ is considerable.

When we went from the i4/4S to the i5/5S we were all amazed how much lighter the bigger phone was. Now the diehards are apparently unbothered by massive weight gains on an already cumbersome phone...

Thanks for the snarky comment....completely uncalled for. The 6 has gone from 129grams too 143 grams so a 11 percent increase and the 6 plus from172 grams to 192 grams a percent 12 increase. To me that is rather significant!!!
Forget about percent. Ask yourself if you can even tell the weight difference between a 20 grams. Most people can hold two objects, one in each hand, and not be able to tell which is heavier or lighter, or if they can, by how much.

All that said, I can respect your opinion even if I think it's a bit alarmist. Get what works for you. If weight is a deal killer, I imagine your current device is perfectly capable of handling your needs until next year. Hell, there are still people holding out for another 4" announcement.

It's about 2 sheets of paper more. If you're not careful you'll look like Quagmire after he discovers the internet.

An extra 20 grams on a device weighing 172 grams is a huge increase and especially considering that the form factor is identical. The new phone is 12% heavier and you guys are dismissing it like it's 2% heavier. Dealbreaker? Not for me but having owned the 6+ for a year the weight bothers me more than the size. No, not lifting it but putting it in a shirt or jacket pocket. It makes clothing hang.

For the added strength and additional hardware I think weight is the most laughable thing to complain about. It went up the weight of a couple coins. After 2 weeks of using it you won't notice a difference.

Of course it's a bad thing that the weight of the 6S Plus is 20 (!) grams heavier than the previous version.
We're talking about a 194 grams heavy little bastard.
My Desire Z from years ago was 180 grams and that was already an uncomfortably heavy phone.
The weight of the 6S is acceptable though, with 143 grams.
Luckily I HATE having humongous phones in my pocket and having to use it one handed, so the weight of the 6S Plus won't be bothering me;)

Why are people only calling something heavy if they struggle to actually lift it? You can have a heavy watch, a heavy pen and a heavy jacket. Anything can be heavy when compared to similar objects. The 6+ is a big, cumbersome phone and the 6S+ is a big, cumbersome phone with a 12% weight increase. That's a lot!

Samsung Note 5 - bigger screen, not as tall, not as wide and only weighing 171 grams.
