i dont smoke, and i never will......but i dont object to people doing it, they certainly have the ability to make their own descisions, and i dont think it requires my input.

Ah, a realist. Thank you for being one of the smarter beings on the planet.

Anyway, I smoke more than a circus monkey. I don't give a good godamn if people don't like it. My choice, my life, suck it up. :D

Well it isnt our choice, to "suck" up your smoke ey? If u go and only smoke with cigarette buddies, then fine. YOUR choice affects more than just yourself...think about that ;)

Do you smoke?

I did for more than 30 years, then quit on 2/22/2002. Its amazing how your attitude can change. Two weeks ago, in Calgary, I went into a bar where they allowed smoking. I had forgotten how distasteful bars that allow smoking are. Wanted to leave before I finished my beer - but I was with a bunch of people from a conference I went to - so I stayed and we all complained about the smell for a while. Seems you can't smoke in bars in most of Canada now. One beer and most of us were out of there.

I can understand why you're angry but I think it's misdirected.

From the sounds of it, some very inconsiderate people have smoked near you and it's bothered you. Punch them by all means, shoot them in the face if you like, they deserve it by the sounds of it - Why should they threaten your health?

You're saying that all/majority of smokers are like this which really ticks me off.
The problem is that a vast amount of smokers do take this opinion. You can barely go into a pub without leaving it smelling of smoke.

Used to smoke a lot of tobacco of all kinds when I was younger. The old lungs couldn't take it any more so I quit about five years ago. I've been smoking frosty green buds every day for nine years though. :D

WTF?

If you want to smoke, that is totally fine by me, just do it outside. I am glad more and more places are banning smoking indoors. You do what you want but at least give other people a chance to breath clean air.

Um, sorry, but I'm kinda proud that I don't do drugs and/or smoke, so it really doesn't bother me that I have "no idea". I'm actually glad that I don't know what they are and how to use them. However, I'll you one thing. I couldn't even look at half the things you smoke, let alone light them on fire.

I'm sure that it's a good thing that you don't smoke or "do drugs" (although depending on one's definition of this phrase, your statement should be considered questionable at best). I agree that smoking is a rather unfortunate affliction of the species and can have absolutely disastrous health effects. My "no idea" comment was directed at the fact that marijuana intake gets a bit weirder than buds in a tray, and the video at the other end of the link is an example of that. I was not attempting to offend your moral sensibilities. However I feel that it is disappointing that you use the phrase "do drugs" in the context that you do, as if the subjects of eating Kiddie Aspirin, smoking Marijuana, or banging Smack bear no neccessity to differentiate between them.

I'm not sure what this means exactly, unless its a reference to red/green colorblindedness. I will say though that lately I haven't been lighting my bud on fire nearly at all; I try to stick to a combo of hot-air convection vaporization and those nifty glass knifes. Much higher efficiency per weight, better flavor and much less carcinogenic. :)

Amen! Touting your consumption of controlled substances--aka drugs--is another sign of your stupidty and insecurity.

i just saw a few clips from a new film "Thank you for smoking"

i think everyone should see it --- just good satire all around

On a side note, the government have just introduced a law, where all cigarette packets have to have graphic pictures of the detrimental health effects. They're really gross - gangrenous feet, diseased lungs, blocked arteries and mouth cancer.

It will be interesting to see the effect they have. I have heard some people say that because of the pictures they want to quit. But on the other hand I've heard others saying they're just going to by a case to put them in.
We have those images on cigarette pack for quite some time. I think it would be about 2 years? Give me the chills everytime I see them. Also, here, the government increase the tax on cigarette again and again, I'm not sure how much it cost over in the states, but it cost about US$6 for 20 sticks now. Most probably, they are going to tax it out of existence.

Respond, don't react. Think things through and form an opinion, don't repeat lines you learned from your DARE officer. See things from multiple viewpoints. Is it worse that I choose to smoke marijuana as an adult or that a parent can force a misbehaving child to take legal pharmaceuticals for the purposes of behavior modification? What is your opinion of the legal pharmaceutical industry in general? What is your opinion of the potential of medicinal uses of marijuana? How do you feel about California's Proposition 215 versus the federal Controlled Substances Act of 1970? Can you justify the legality of tobacco and alcohol versus the illegality of marijuana? If you have such a high regard for intellect, let's hear a well thought out opinion or two.

While I personally don't smoke pot, (I've tried it, its just not worth the lying to parents/cost/hassle versus the effect) I agree that it should be legalized, and that forcing riddalin and anti-depressants down the throats of young kids is just as bad as any illegal drug. As seen in Holland after their legalization, there would be a rise in use, then a steady decline.

The fact that I can walk out the door of my school, go halfway around the block, and buy any drug from oxycontin to shrooms to crack to pot (in a good part of town too!) speaks to the complete uselessness of the current drug laws. Change needs to happen.

No and I really can't stand to be around it.

I grew up in a house where my dad smoked heavily and I truly believe that it stunted my growth. I turned out to be 5' 11" but i know I had a couple more inches in me.

I don't smoke habitually. I am one of those people that will have a cigarette when having a drink out at the bar if someone else lights up.

Drinking? I don't know how much I drink compared to everyone else out there but I think I probably drink the average amount for the average drinker. Which very easily could be on the side of "too much," I suppose. But I never think about it.

I no longer smoke pot (it's been 18 years) but I, too, don't have a problem with it. I think it should be legal or legalized in some form/fashion for sure.
